I think they're nuts to leave so early! But they love it.
Here's an article on the subject from MI... https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2020/03/27/c oronavirus-michigan-up-north/2922193001/
MI absolutely relies on seasonal income, so I feel for them in that regard. But they have 1.9 hospital beds per 1000 people in northwest MI (nat'l avg is 2.4) and Italy was totally overwhelmed and has 3.2 per 1000. NW Michigan's population is really old like Italy's and not very healthy so I worry about them! But they do live a heck of a lot farther apart, so that might work in their favor...
Good Morning
Popping in quickly as I have been working for an hour and I finally feel like my head is a bit clearer and Im functioning a little like the ol me. Just as well as Im still playing major catch up with work from only a weeks sick leave !
Havent had to take pain relief overnight for the past 2 nights. Im also needing less during the day which is nice. I did however take 2 before the nurse came to take the staples out. Oh la la that hurt. The surgeon hadnt gotten quite a few of the lower ones in straight. Not ideal as she had to dig to get the removal tool under to get them out. It opened up the wound and was incrediably painful. Glad to have that done. Steri Strips and waterproof dressing come off in 5 days time
Weight 171.82 up a but this morning but again Im not fussing - focusing on healing and resting moreso at present
Yesterday I made up a box with DSS, his partner and the grand babies Easter gifts from my Mum and us. Also wrapped up lots of surprises for our 2 year old grandson. Printed some animals for him to colour in. Hes got his own snack box that I filled with treats too. Plus other things to help them all through lockdown. It should be picked up by courier today. Also organised DSD's Easter Gifts - they will also go on courier today. My Youngest son came to help DH and eldest son get a load of wood - so I gave him the gifts for he and his girlfriend. It will be the last time I see him until this is over but we will facetime with all of our kids and grandbabies. And yes I hugged him - This is going to be so hard :( My kids are my world
We have made the decision to move my mum here tommorrow afternoon. We are not quite in lockdown but there are very strong recommendations that anyone over 70 goes into lockdown. I have been preparing her for over a week as she gets rattled with too much going on at once. My DH and eldest son will go over tommorrow afternoon and load all her stuff into the cars and follow her here. I have already done a mail re-direct and shes working through a list. At least from tommorrow she will have some company and we will be able to cook her fresh and healthy meals. My mum coming means my eldest son had to make a decision on which house he was going to stay at - he has picked his fathers which is fine. We as a family have decided that once my mum comes here, we will not allow any visitors here so we can protect her. I am going to text my physio and ask her if we can do the sessions on the front deck so that she doesnt have to come into the house. My mum is my main concern at present. Couldnt bear to think of this horrible disease taking her from us and she already has significant breathing difficulties. Today is my Dads 79th birthday - he has been gone 12 years and will be the first time we dont go and lay flowers at both he and my sisters grave. I made him a promise as I sat with him as he went into hospital for the last time that I would always take care of my mum. I think he would approve at my push to bring her here to us so we can keep her safe.
Well I had best get back to it - Hoping to work solidly till lunchtime today to "break the back" of my outstanding tasks. I will pop back after that
Love to you all x
