Late yesterday afternoon, my neighbor (the 77-year-old father of my trash pickup guy who was here earlier yesterday) drove over to say howdy and to bring me their new phone number. He also brought a dozen fresh, pretty, colored eggs freshly laid by his chickens. In exchange, I gave him about 40 Walmart bags from my pre-plague cache. Not sure why he needs 'em, but now he's got 'em. And I've got fresh eggs. #ReduceReuseRecycle. We social-distanced on the front porch and were careful about how we made our exchanges. A person couldn't have sweeter neighbors!
BTW, if I start saving mayonnaise jars, would somebody please have a talk with me.
I've scheduled another Walmart sidewalk pickup tomorrow afternoon for a few fresh veggies, some items they were out of last time, and substances I once thought I would NEVER buy again, e.g., chunky peanut butter, strawberry jam made with sugar, a bar of dark chocolate, sweet pickle relish, and Ezekiel bread. I figure that if I'm going to continue to learn to moderate (and not avoid) trigger foods, this is the time to work on it. I've got nothing else going on.
By the way, the trick to securing a Walmart pickup time slot seems to be scheduling one at dark o'clock (before 4:00 am). You're welcome.

LOL on Walmart pickup time. DS wants me to do that. However, when I have gone to the store there is NO ONE there. I wear gloves, pick my stuff out, use the self-cash out, throw the gloves away after I leave the store, use sanitizer and wash my hands thoroughly when I get home. I don't think I am any more at risk than having some person who I don't know picking stuff off the shelves for me and loading it in my car (or dropping it off at the house). What do you guys think?
Regardless, no need to go to the store today. We are slightly under halfway through washing the blinds and windows but should get them done by my target of tomorrow. It is nice to get something accomplished. Many of our friends are going home early. Some of them say they might as well be doing chores that need to be done at home while "quarantined". In another time I might have felt the same but I really am still not in the right frame of mind to be sorting through boxes of things with memories of DH everywhere. I did do that with his clothing but that is enough for now.
I touched base yesterday with a friend an hour south of us whose husband also has dementia and was only a bit behind mine on progression. He was in daycare full time and she was starting the process for long-term placement as it was getting to the point my DH was at by the end of last summer. Now the daycare is closed, the process for long-term care placement has to be indefinitely on hold and she doesn't know how she is going to get DH back to Massachusetts (they had flown down). She has been able to get some assistance with him at their home here, but my heart aches for her.
One last thought: they reported lack of smell/taste as an early sign of covid-19. I have had that happen when I am first getting a cold.
Hang in there. Stay safe and don't overdo. Most of all, stay healthy!

I join you in sympathy for your friend. What a terrible predicament. We have some very dear friends in their 80s, the husband has Parkinson's disease. They still do have aides coming in because he is wheelchair bound, and she can't lift him. So luckily they continue to have help, but I worry about so many people in and out of their house. But what choice do they have?
Getting groceries is a conundrum, but it sounds like you are taking all necessary precautions. I think the scale tips the other way if the stores start having more shoppers.
Just to clarify about how to secure a Walmart pickup time slot ....
It's the securing of it that has to happen at dark o'clock--not the actual pickup time slot secured.
For example, this morning at 4:00 am I was finally able to secure a pickup time slot for tomorrow (between 2-3pm). On the last few mornings by 8:00 am, all TODAY'S and TOMORROW'S pickup time slots were already gone.

160.2
I want to break the 160s for good, but Easter reese's cups say otherwise. Dang that is my achilles heel.
Ann-I think you're right about Walmart pickup. I noticed if I scheduled shipt shopper eeeearly in the morning I could get it! although that might have changed now that so many people are using it. I personally haven't had the best luck with walmart--weird substitutions, out of a lot, moldy produce, plus I worry about handling. So I've used shipt for a local grocery store and a shopper who texts me to ask questions. But it's definitely pricier and I also worry about their handling. Which is why I've been staying away for now. But we haven't much fresh produce left. I would like fresh buns for hotdogs etc but also thinking maybe I should hold out as long as I can. Idk.
Liz-wow I wish you could come clean my windows! I have no idea when they've ever been cleaned.
So much to do. I think I should start a list. Instead I seem to be stuck just perpetually doing the necessary and never making a dent in my list. First thing is I need to switch over closets to spring. Tomorrow is to be 87degrees! But then back in 50s for highs next week. Maybe I hold off. Crazy weather!
DD-I might have to adopt your"travel dinner" idea. I just found a cd of Greek music we bought when in Greece. I have such fond memories there. God willing some day I can go back. We are supposed to have record high temps tomorrow. Maybe some Greek music out on the porch, grilled greek chicken. Unfortunately, though, I have no cucumber, little feta. Hmm.
I'm going to check on my vulnerable elder parents today. Haha they are not amused by that. Taking them 15 bean soup and peanut butter pie.
Might pick up fast food for lunch. Undecided. Tonight we are rolling up the rug and planning to hunker down for potty training tomorrow. Dear Lord help us. Might do a grilled mahi mahi with I think I have some frozen chimichurri sauce. Or might look to see what I can do about a Greek dinner. I guess I could order that! But I still worry about cooties.
Trying to have an uplifiting attitude but I opened up my sheet music and started playing "Waltzing Matilda" yesterday. Anyone familiar with this song? I bet Shirl can answer ;) I know it from the film "On the Beach." If you want a classic disaster film...
But in a brighter attempt, I think we migh****ch The Natural tonight. Robert Redford, yummy. Unless we just enjoy our Greekiness ;)
I'm so happy I did physical therapy when I did. When I started in January, I couldn't even walk a few blocks without wanting to weep from the pain in my hip. I was sure I was going to nerd a hip replacement, but instead it was a all muscle and nerve pain. Almost completely resolved now. I should send my pt a note to tell him how it's going.
I have a dentist appointment on March 31 to get a crown for the recent root canal. I got a text message asking to confirm the appointment. I was fully expecting all elective dental procedures to be cancelled, but we'll see. To me the issue would be is that they'd need to use mask, gowns etc. I'll call my clinic. Maybe they are worried the temporary filling won't support the tooth, and I do need the crown asap. I also have a dexa scan and mammogram scheduled on April 15. Again, not overly concerned about covid 19 exposure, but do not want to be the reason masks, gowns, gloves are used.
The best thing about a long walk yesterday was I didn't spend the afternoon snacking. :) We have another state park selected for today, if it's not raining this afternoon.
There's a fun trivia video game we played with my son the last time we visited him. There's a code you use on your phone, and it makes your phone a clicker to answer questions, and the main screen is projected on your TV. My son thinks we can all get hooked up from our various locations and play together. We'll try this tonight.
Good Morning All,
Bit of a rough nights sleep, awake at 1am and again at 5.30am so I just gave up. Everyone is still sleeping so I made a cup of tea and managed to carry it back to my bed on one crutch :) Where there is a will there is a way
Weight 170.5 - up again but im sure is swelling. My wedding and engagement ring flew off my finger last night. I now have to wear it on my middle finger till I can get it sorted so Im obviously loosing weight. Can tell in my clothes too
Im about to start work for a few hours - those that missed yesterdays late post - yup Im back..... Ive opened the floodgates and my inbox is overflowing so best I start to try and tackle them. I find on the pain meds etc I cant multitask like I normally do- so am adopting the "one thing at a time" practice - so far its working
Just finished watching Self Made on Netflix - was a good series. I enjoyed it.
Not a lot else on for today. There will be 3-4 lots of my exercises, a nap and maybe I can continue to get some things put back in cupboards after the flooring was done. DS did a bit of the laundry with me yesterday afternoon - well actually he did it - I just told him were to put things he he he. Hes my rock and Im truely thankful for his help. DH is over half way through tiling the kitchen so it will be wonderful when thats finished. Things are finally getting back to organised and I like it :)
BB- Waltzing Matilda huh - I have memories of singing it in Primary (junior?) school in the classroom. We wouldnt have been awarded any acolades for our singing but it was certainly done with gusto :)
Ann - Good on you for working out how to get the time slots :) Loved the picture of your eggs - lovely colours. Always wanted a chook who lays Blue Eggs - I gave 2 doz to my best friend yesterday - she picked up from the driveway - it was weird but I said to her I need to be very diligent especially with the likelyhood of my mum coming to live with us
Liz - You are doing fabulous with your Deep Clean of the condo. Well done. Are you still allowed to fly between places? All our borders are closed now between the states.
DD - How is your mum going? I love reading about your family time. I can tell you are a warm and loving family *****ally enjoys spending time together
Diane O - Hope the fact you havent posted means you are getting a little rest. You have a lot on your plate ATM. Please be kind to yourself. I think you are superwoman xxx
Diane S - How is your brother after his treatment?
Leap - How are you all - missing your voice
Miss150 - Same for you - are you doing ok?
Paula - How are things?
Cec - Give that gorgeous Ferg a big hug for me

Shirl you are sunshine embodied. Keep prioritizing your healing.
Early morning cuppa, not gonna lie, I have considered putting an electric tea kettle, cups and tea bags in my bedroom so I don't even have to trek to the kitchen for that first sustaining sip. My husband jokes about a mini fridge. We refer to our inclination to stay cozy in our bedroom in the winter as the Willy Wonka bed :)
