Weight: 160.2. Inevitable

I am heartened by these stories of how we can all help--from making masks to changing distilleries over to produce hand sanitizer to car manufacturers producing ventilators.

Ann-glad that your trip was successful and you got some much-needed interaction.

Diane O.-you're an angel!

Liz-I saw that on facebook. I can't believe another year has passed. But what a beautiful Happy Birthday Elise is having this year. I am glad that knowing she and her dad are celebrating together gives you comfort.

I have made a couple observations through all this: 1) we are a very ornery creature who is content to stay in until told not to go out!! 2) We definitely crave certainty as part of our security and happiness. I think most or all of us would have a lot less trouble with this if we knew an end date. but unfortunately that is the million dollar question. 3) We all have a great need to feel needed, useful, productive. Whether it's checking in on our neighbors, making masks, picking up groceries for someone--it helps to fill that need, 4) We are very social creatures. This is HARD!! So chatting up a grocery delivery person is perfectly acceptable.

My life hasn't actually changed that much. Especially not during the weekdays. But I do miss a break from the kids!! And even more so I just want to plan for the future.

We cancelled our trip in two weeks to Vegas (obviously). We don't have anything else already booked until our August trip to Texas at a timeshare. This is such a cluster. I guess if we don't get to use it we just lose it. So I'm trying not to stress about that. Can't fit 48 hours in a day! Some things will just have to fall. But I'm realllllly hoping things are normal-ish by August!

The reality that there won't be any Easter Egg hunts or waving of palm branches is starting to sink in. There is so much fear and uncertainty and sadness that things have not turned out how we thought they would. But I also believe that part of the message of Easter is that we need not live in fear and uncertainty and that things are not always as they appear.

I think I need to get out and move some today. Staying indoors is making me a little depressed/tired. I fell asleep watching Midway last night. How do you guys think about WWII/Great Depression/Greatest generation? You know me, I'm an old soul. And I spent so much time talking with and listening to my grandparents that this all feels very familiar to me. Not too too long ago because people I knew and loved dearly lived it. But interestingly my husband, who is 14 years older!, said it felt ancient to him.

Today I'm going to make Sunday Roast with carrots and mashed potatoes. Nothing like the smell of a Sunday roast in the oven. And if we watch a movie today, I get to pick. My choice today! I'm torn between "Same Time, Next Year" and "Come September" Curious if any of you all have seen either.

Today's music (a la Ann): Aquarius/Let the Sunshine. Because I'm feelin' groovy and need to borrow "Hair" and what the heck I'll put "Jesus Christ, Superstar" in the queue as well.

Good morning! Yesterday when I went to Costco I went a little crazy. My usual Costco trip is about $125. I spent over $300!! No hoarding, just kept seeing things and thinking, oh dear husband would like that, dear daughter would like that... We should be set for sometime.

There was a pallet of toilet paper being guarded by a very stern looking employe with a walkie talkie in his hand. (Is that generational vocabulary? I bet millennials don't call it a walkie talkie.) He stood by a big sigh that said limit one. I had to force myself not to buy one. We have plenty of toilet paper. I thought about buying some to save for friends who are running low (Peps?), but I decided I should leave it for those who were actually in the store.

We had a social distancing party with my bff's son and his family. I bought a huge box of grapefruit from a student fundraiser a few weeks ago, with the intent of sharing in the break room. They were delivered to my home this week, and let me tell you, a box of grapefruit is a lot for one person. I learned their family was out of grapefruit, so we drove half my box over to their house. They stood in their doorway, and we stood in the yard and chatted. The kids kept bringing their favorite toys to the door to show us. Their little girl pretended to shake hands with my DH through the window. It was good for all of us. DH and I had a reason for a drive, and the four of them (soon to be 5), got to see some new faces after being self quarantined with each other for a week.

I am really enjoying transforming son's former bedroom into my office with things I already have in the house. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

Time to read the Sunday paper and drink more tea. Daughter is scheduled to land in Minneapolis at 7pm. Fingers crossed she gets here safely.

Good Morning, waking from my first night at home. Had 2 good 4 hour blocks of sleep. DH had left the ducted heating on so I woke up feeling cooked at 2.30am. Was able to hobble out and turn it off.

DH cooked a delicious steak, sweet potato mash & pruscutto wrapped asparagus for tea. I really enjoyed it and have half left for dinner tonight.

Weight 172.04 - up quite a bit but suspect this is swelling n lack of effective toilet time with pain meds. People have said that I look smaller so who knows

I didnt do my exercises yesterday and have lost the little mobility I had started to gain. Big lesson learnt. Restarting today and they will be done as intructed. Also had a reasonable bleed along the stitch line so hoping its remained intact.

My day will be filled with napping & exercises plus charting meds.

Love to you all - will pop back later. Brain power is definately fuzzy with all the pain killers

Not much to report. I've started a new scarf, because starting projects is way more fun for me than finishing them!
It looks better in person than in photos!

Other than that, after a slow morning start (went back to sleep until 11 - eek, can't keep doing that), I did clean up and walk the dog. There are so many people out and walking, biking, etc. with their families. And most seem to be giving each other a wide berth. Rain comes again this evening and bits of it forecast for the next several days.

I'm listening to history podcasts while knitting, so at least trying to learn something! I also emailed the volunteer coordinator for our local senior center meals on wheels program to offer my delivery help. We'll see if they need me. I hope they've been flooded by offers, but if not I'm happy to lend a hand.

Tis all for me...

Scarf looks lovely Cec x You are very talented

Good for you offering to do meals on wheels

Im feeling particularily useless - couped up on my bed. Not used to being idle! I have managed to do a few chores whilst on crutches with some help from DS and DH

DH is taking puppies to DS girlfriends workplace at 3pm so she can groom them. They truely STINK! All our cafes are being closed as of tomm - they offered a meat pack for collection at 4pm today as they had to cook the contents of their fridge. We ordered one - not really needed but wanted to do our bit to support the small local businesses. Many will fold I expect. The Major food chains are topping their best sales as everyone continues to panic buy.

Other than that, Ive ordered DH a new monitor as he is now working from home full time. And Im going to have an afternoon nap. Second set of exercises has been done
