This morning, I am incredibly grateful for each of you individually, the group we have built, and the history we have together. It's always been valuable, but it's becoming more precious by the day.
And because I woke up per usual not long after midnight, I have just snuggled up with my First Vegetable of the Day to reread yesterday's posts. DianeS ... you know that book you want me to write about our group? We're writing it now!
Yesterday's trip to Walmart was sweet. It worked. It wasn't perfect (they didn't have sweet potatoes, penne pasta, or canned tuna), but they did have organic milk, high-calorie bread, extra sharp cheddar cheese, bananas, sour cream, full-fat cottage cheese, feta cheese, organic butter, grape tomatoes, and thin crust frozen pizza. Heck, I didn't even have access to all those foods when I was a ravenous teenager. And the young woman and young man who put the groceries in my car at curbside were sweethearts. They clearly understand that part of their service is allowing folks who haven't talked to a human being in real life for days to chat them up. They and their smiles felt precious.
I found a couple of new health metrics to take during quarantine after sitting down with my first cuppa: body temp of 97.5?F and heart rate of 62.
BTW, weight was down this morning--wrong direction. Today, come hell or high water, I'm going to eat 1,800 calories.
Helping Others: My UPS Office manager told me yesterday that she can't find any coffee at her grocery store. Next time I go to town I'll take her a jar of instant Nescafe someone gave us, because if we can't share coffee with those *****ally need it, our humanity is lost!
More Quarantine Resources: This morning I read a lovely opinion piece in The NYTimes by astronaut Scott Kelly: "I Spent a Year in Space, and I Have Tips on Isolation to Share." So simple, so sane, so centering.
I'll leave it there for now. Today we're alive! Let's make it count.

Up here early. Slept poorly. My DS, DD, and two nieces are in direct health care (Syracuse, NYC, Albany NY, Chicago). During our daily check in, DS and I compared notes on how our own family is holding up and the lack of access to critical protective basics is scary. My sister and I decided we were going to sew face masks. Hospitals are now developing patterns for better than nothing protection. I did not have any fabric or elastic at home and I can't get items on Amazon for a week, so I went to Walmart wearing gloves, and found basics to get started until my delivery comes. I spoke with DD and she broke down and shared her fears for her colleagues. She said they are resorting to bandanas to prolong the life of what they have. She will be doing much more compounding of drugs and said a bandana would suffice, freeing up masks for nurses and doctors. As hospitals shift, bandanas are now extremely difficult to find. I ran back out to Tractor Supply, a mile away, and found 45 bandanas to send out to them. Will be sewing today.
Things are tense with DH. He took a dose of Oxy early, and it messed with his psych drugs and impacted his stability on the walker. I'm going to need to move meds from bedroom, in a kind and non-judgmental way.

DianeO ... if you have access to it, would you please provide a link to the bandanna mask pattern? My double-denim stylin' husband had dozens of those bandannas, which I have not donated or thrown away and could convert all to home-made hospital masks. Thanks! :)

One thing that might help is documentation. Time the Med was taken, dose, side effects, then reduce the dose, etc. When you are in pain it is easy to forget when you took it or even forget that you already took it. It takes you out of the pill police role. It is in black and white for all to see.

I started this when I got home from hospital
DH is super stressed about the pain relief as his younger sister nearly died some years ago thru an addiction to Opidids. I have assured him Im being sensible. Needless to say I have tried to have a little less today to make him happy and am now suffering.... That balance is hard to find.
Dear Shirl, I will gently ask, are you taking care of your husband (emotions) to the detriment of what you need? This is the time you gave to heal. Put yourself first. If that feels selfish, remind yourself, too much pain, slower healing, longer it will take for you to do all the things you typically do for your loved ones.
Weight 124.2, WW Bluepoints 10. Should be more or less a real weight as I am definitely not dehydrated (no wine, lots of water yesterday).
Walked a long walk in the am, 3 medium dog walks during the day and a longer dog walk in the early evening. Finished a book. Oh and I did venture to Walmart to get DD a non-drowsy allergy medication and pick up a few other things. At 10 am there were hardly any people. All liquid soaps (dish, dishwasher, laundry) were missing, plus all paper goods, pre-packaged breads and all eggs (and Eggbeaters). So insane!
Today is the 15th anniversary of my dear DD's death. I felt down yesterday and it took me a while to realize why. I still miss her but I'm so glad she is with her Dad now. Speaking of which I had the weirdest dream last night: I was traveling alone and left my purse on a table somewhere. When I returned it was still there but my wallet was missing (with my IDs and all credit cards). I spent a lot of the dream on the phone with DH. He had dementia, but was at an earlier stage so he still had his personality and was trying as hard as he could to help. Two thoughts after that: I felt good that he visited with me; I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures of the front and back of all the cards in my wallet.
We are walking this morning with the group (6 plus feet apart). Since there is no church they want to get out. Other than that it is laundry day.
I hope you all stay safe and not too bored!

I posted this for the RNY daily menu thread last week and thought I would post it for you. It is SO good. I had it over riced cauliflower last night (leftover from earlier in the week). With 1/2 the oil and with lean ground turkey, the sauce itself is 1 WW Bluepoint:
