Considering some of the worst outcome scenarios for coronavirus has actually helped me. The more information I have, the better. In addition to saturating my hands in soap and Purcell, I've saturated my brain with reading. And like you Diane, I completely agree with Gov. Cuomo's decision in NYC. Leadership requires tough choices. And having more knowledge, if we still go to NYC in 2 weeks, it won't be with false bravado, but instead be the informed choice with an understanding of what the true risks are.
Two years ago our district hired a new superintendent. He was formerly a Lieutenant Colonel in the army. He has a doctorate in Educational Leadership. At the time I thought, I can't believe they are hiring someone who has never been in a classroom day in and day out. Turns out, he is just what we needed. He's a leader in the best sense. Now, with a pandemic virus about, I feel fortunate that in my work life, there is someone in charge who we can trust. I have a lot of faith in our state government too, and we are so fortunate to be sitting on a large budget surplus.
I continue to follow my eating plan faithfully, (90%) but the scale doesn't budge. I have to remind myself that there were weeks I didn't show a weight loss right after my surgery when I was eating about as much as my house cat.
Ann congratulations on getting to your personal goal, and the perseverance it took to get there!
One of my wise friends once told me, the win that means the most to me is when I win the battle with myself. Keep fighting those battles my friends!
That all sounds good to me, Diane.

Sugar thing at school is going well. Was greeted this morning with a home baked peanut butter m&m cookie taped to my door. The sticky note attached read, "From Hailey Nelson" who is a former student of mine now in 7th grade. She took up baking in 3rd grade with her grandpa and I was encouraging about her new hobby. To this day when she tries out a new recipe she sends me a sample. Very sweet. I LOVE the gesture. And today, I smiled, put the cookie away and decided to "save it for later". It's almost 8:30 pm and it is still in the cupboard.
"You don't have to do anything. This disease is making all the decisions now. You can relax." Profound truth. I remember when Shel talked about that conversation with her oncologist. I am glad you posted that today, Ann. It stayed with me all day and served me well this evening.
Ella has liver cancer.
