Weight 125.2, WW blue points 29. Some wine so I am probably a little dehydrated. Since I'll be out eating the next 3 days with my friend, I really have to watch it. My goal is to not gain.
Puppies!!!! So great that Mom and all puppies are okay! There is nothing like new life bringing joy.
I don't know what we are doing today. We might visit my friend's brother and/or go to the beach. First thing this morning I am walking with my friends as usual as he wanted to sleep in a bit.
Have a great day!

- Saturday's Insights: Keeping my head in the game is crucial. I will identify more things that work for me to more effectively/efficiently expedite that process (beyond activity, music and journaling) and I will work to habituate methods I have identified. I have to get my head out of the sand about Coronavirus.
My daughters still make fun of how prepared I was for Y2K. As a building administrator, I was always focused on the health and well being of my students and staff. I've become more relaxed and laid back in retirement. After speaking with both science geek daughters yesterday, ( Pharmacist working hands on with patients in Manhattan hospital clinic and Physicist in Vancouver BC who travels around the world) their high level of concern about COVID-19 hit me hard. Both girls see the potential for rapid increases in confirmed cases. I shared an excellent overview on FB today. There is a fine line between panic and being prepared, but I am kicking up preparations. One major concern is that by the time people NEED to self-isolate to reduce potential for exposure, access to many staples may be severely reduced. Yes, I am stocking up on Boost Max, water, protein bars, Eggbeaters and Greek yogurt to freeze. I have Zinc lozenges, Pedialite sticks, extra Tylenol and Rxs. I am thinking about what it would mean to not leave the house for three weeks, if need be, so things like toilet paper are on the list too. Hearing the girls talk about cancelled marathons and conferences as well as their daily precautions (both live in major cities) was a stark reality check for me.
Life is certainly about finding balance and thinking ahead to be prepared for potential challenges and I'd say I am over thinking this except for the fact that my girls are the calm, rational, data driven types and their daily reality is weeks ahead of my region.

Thanks for that information Diane. I do have a lot of toilet paper thanks to a recent visit to Costco, but I could stock up on other things. We don't tend to have a lot of food in the house, since there are several 24 hour supermarkets within 10 minutes, so I tend to stop in every 5 days or so.
It's good to hear the viewpoint of people who know what's what. I just read that zinc at the first signs of something respiratory can help a lot. The article said to use it while lying down so it could coat the whole back of the throat.
I fear for our NYC trip at the end of the month, that maybe museums etc will be closed or flights will be cancelled. There's not a thing I can do though, so I'll not invest too much time worrying.

Weight 188.2. A gain of .2 for the week. "Funny" story... I weighed in at 188.2 this morning, but hadn't gone "big potty" (as my friend calls it). I got showered and dressed for my annual physical with my doctor this morning With nothing to eat or drink as he would be doing labs. Before I needed to leave, I finally had to "go", so I thought, what the hell, did my business, stripped down to the buff again and weighed. I gained another .2! I literally said, "fuck you!" out loud to my scale. The extra .2 is not reflected in today's weight number as I found it profoundly unfair and against the laws of bathroom science.
My physical is done and he ordered labs to check various levels like ion, b-12, D, etc. I really love their practice and wish everyone had doctors like them. First off, I walk in and he greets me before the door closes. I head in. He has a little table and chairs in the exam room and we sit down and talk for 30 minutes about every health goal under the sun. They focus on eating, movement, sleep, and mindfulness and ask all sorts of questions about how you're doing in those areas. Very helpful. He recommended a book called, "The Power of Habit" I need to check out. Then a quick physical exam that I didn't have to strip for (yay!), then vitals and blood draws. I was there for 45 minutes and was the only person in the office. I pay $79 a month for unlimited access to them.
He did ask if I was concerned about Coronavirus and I said I find the whole thing concerning, not so much for myself but for others who aren't healthy to start with. He said he feels the same and thinks most healthy people will feel like they have a cold. I did say that I found it surprising how many health professionals are catching it, considering if anyone is washing their hands, masked up and gloved up, it's them. He used to ****** doctor and he said he's actually not surprised. He said it is a high stress/fast-paced environment and they are not always as careful with their protective gear as you'd think. But he thought now that it's here and spreading in communities, he thinks many will step up their protection.
Anyway, they (he shares the practice with his wife and one other doctor) also had their golden retriever in the office. They call her Dr. Dog. Perfection.
That's all. Have a good day, all!
Well, I clearly have the Corona Virus, or at least, that's what I'm going with. Started as a dry hack with scratchy throat. It has progressed to a lovely bronchial cough with much garbage produced with each good cough. In other words, I've got a cold as Ceci's concierge Doc put it. I'm all for concierge docs, too, but it's not on my insurance plan. LOL! Seriously, I hate the other insurance option provided by my district, so I stick with Kaiser. I know how to work the system and have always had exceptional care and have direct contact with my PCP, so it works for me. I digressed. I am home today and if I don't feel much better by tonight, I will stay home tomorrow, too.
As usual, puppy delivery is good for my weight. I am down a whole 4 pounds since last Thursday or Friday or Saturday.... It's all a blur, really.... I could not believe how much water I passed during the past 24 hours. I must have really been retaining water for some reason or other. I am happy to have gotten rid of it, that's for sure. I don't feel dehydrated, so maybe it is a real loss of water that won't return.
Mama and babies seem to be doing very well. Mama is doing exceptionally well. She has youth on her side. She is also a fantastic mama. You never know how a ***** is going to be until she has a litter. Dottie is devoted and I think would be fierce, if one of the boys got into the room with the pups.
I am terribly far behind in grading and inputting of scores because of the events of this weekend. I have to spend some time this afternoon grading and getting paperwork done. Not the most fun job when one feels like poop on toast. I'd much rather waste time staring at pups, reading, watching tv, etc....
Merriest of Mondays to one and all!
Good Morning All
Just back from Bloodwork and ECG as the pre op prep continues. Have a pre-admission apt booked with nurses and physio on Friday morning. Getting real now........ just need to make sure I am as organised as possible.
Took dinner over to DSS's last night. Was lovely to see them all and play with the boys. DH is still in Queensland so I went alone. Tonight I have to meet the builder at my friend (who passed) sons - hes the one I help as he has autism. His Garage roof has rusted thru - I organised a roof plumber but need our builder to go look at the beams etc. My youngest son came with me last week to disconnect all the lights and make it safe in the interim. Hoping that will put his mind a little at ease till we deal with getting everything fixed. Its a rush to get it all sorted while Im still able to drive and move easier but nearly there
Have a teleconference at 6.30pm for our Townsville unit - we are voting on getting security gates at the front of the complex. I am all for it as there has been a large increase in crime in Townsville due to declining job opportunities etc. Hoping the other owners are in agreement but we shall see tonight.
Not much else to report. Head is spinning a bit as I schedule things that I need to get done before surgery. There will be a trip to Costco this week. Another trip to go get tomatos so we can make relish/chutney etc. Need to stock up on dog and chook food so that its easier on DH and DS while Im recovering too. Gardening is on hold as of now as Im not allowed to play in the dirt. I will need to be careful whilst up at the farm this weekend that I dont cut or injure hands etc - so that means DH will be fixing the fencing the steer calf broke himself I guess! Little monster went over the electrified wire fence to get back to his mum - what is it with this calf and weaning ! Sheesh
Peps - So happy that Dottie and her precious pups are doing so well. So sorry to hear you have a horrible cold. Hope some rest will help you heal quicker
Cec - Wow thats great service from your Dr :) Bummer about the 0.2 up after bathroom time - how is that fair !
Diane O - We are seeing panic buying over here in Australia too - some supermarkets are out of toilet paper etc. Its concerning I agree - moreso for those have existing medical conditions - Like my mum who has a weaker upper respiratory system. Guess we watch and wait. I will be picking up hand sanitizer on my travels this week but not going to do as some Aussies are and buy a years worth of toilet paper etc .....
Liz - Enjoy your visit with your friend :) Beach sounds lovely
Love to you all and Im going to try and be a lot more present - rather than lurking

Can't believe your surgery is so close now!
I keep seeing the pictures of Costco trolleys filled with supplies. But they just look like normal Costco hauls to me! People always buy more than they need there! It takes me forever yo get through one giant package of t.p. from there.
