It was in the New York Times today. But they also said what you said and that that's based on the numbers that are known. If there are a lot of infected people running around not getting treated because they don't feel that bad, then the numbers change.
"Based on what we know so far, 2019-nCoV seems to be much less fatal than other coronaviruses from recent decades, John Allen Paulos writes in The Times. Scientists have estimated that it's about as contagious as SARS and much less deadly, with a fatality rate of about 2.3 percent.
Still, that would mean the virus is roughly 20 times deadlier than the typical flu, on a par with the 1918-1919 Spanish flu pandemic that by some estimates killed more people than either World War. "If you have 300 relatively close friends and acquaintances, six of them would die," Mr. McNeil said.
But Mr. Paulos stresses that such figures are very much subject to change. It's possible, as Gabriel Leung Writes in The Times, that there are a vast number of infected people who aren't being counted because they have mild or asymptomatic cases. That would suggest the fatality rate is much lower, perhaps even as low as the seasonal flu's."
Greetings Friends
Here I sit, happily munching popcorn that I don't need but enjoy. Sharing with the dogs except Tesla doesn't really want to eat it - just guard it from Chip.
Yeah Ann, I am SSSOOOOOOOO thrilled that Mike Pence is keeping us safe from corona virus, I feel so safe.
There is actually one confirmed case of the disease here in our county - possibly two for a person that came in contact. These people are quarantined in their homes. I think the sick on had been to China. There is also the case of the person who had no travels or known contact that is the mystery patient but that is Sacramento.
So our art galleries are making plans to keep wipes and hand sanitizer around and wipe the door knobs and desk and keyboards often. The Trinidad gallery especially gets visitors from all over the world who come to see the redwoods. So lets hope its enough. But I am not going to sweat it.
Oooh Liz, Key West. What fun. I would love to go there so I want to hear your reaction. I went there once as a teenager and adored the place. We went deep sea fishing and all got sea sick. Brother caught a snapper and we took it to a restaurant that cooked it for us.
Little brother got a really good lab report on his nasty protein disease. He still feels crappy and has to continue the treatments but at least there is some good news.
Meanwhile dealing with conflicts at the studio which require me to referee. Honestly, you would think two grown men would not need a 68 year old woman to settle their differences.
Did the pool yesterday. Some woman was in the pool wearing large diamond hoop earrings! Ok, they were probably paste but who gets in a pool with dangling sparkly earrings?
Later

Who gets in a pool with dangling sparkly earrings? Pretty sure that's me. LOL!
'Cause I'm the one who sometimes wears tutus to yoga class.
Oddly, costume-dressing is ny "flip side." Normally, it's jeans and a blazer or parka. But sometimes I just gotta let my freak flag fly. :)
