Weight 128, WW blue points 10. I'm getting excited about being only 3 pounds from my personal WLS goal (my surgeon's was the top of normal BMI).

Yesterday I finished the slip covers a week ahead of schedule and the entire house is clean. I have a high school friend coming a week from today so I wanted to be done. SIL is going home for a week the day my friend arrives for her oncologist appointment. I hope all goes well for her but it will be nice to spend time with someone who has some energy and an opinion for a change. While I was finishing the housecleaning and sewing, she was reading all day until she started her ****tails at 5. I even did the cooking last night: Air fried cod which came out great, btw.

So in case you don't remember the original colors on my furniture, here is the before and after. The tropical slipcovers were done professionally but I did all the striped ones:

Have a fantastic day!

  1. Within Range: NO ! 10 over !
  2. Blue SmartPoints: 20
  3. General Wellbeing: 7.5
  4. FSF: gambling at VFW, changing handles & deep cleaning cabinets and drawers
  5. Yesterday's Insights: Starting fresh usually involves cleaning. I have to remain open to how to navigate road blocks, as the best solution is not always evident, or the initial option.

Down three and making progress on that count. I cancelled my session with my therapist because I have to get my physical situation sorted first. Our handyman comes Monday, to install the new, larger microwave, which meant purchasing a 12" upper cabinet to replace the 18" one. That got me noticing how dingy the cabinets looked and how much I hated the brushed brass handles. I emptied the two cabinets that have to be removed for the installation. I scrubbed cabinets down and applied orange oil. I found brushed nickel handles I LOVE, and removed and replaced hardware on cabinets. I discovered the old, ancient handles recessed into the drawers and the new ones don't, making the screws too short. The next size up is too long. I ordered break away screws from Amazon, I can adjust to the length I need. I so love it when I can dig in and push through to success. I just have to remain open to how to navigate road blocks, as the best solution is not always evident, or the first few options I consider.

Yes, projects are rarely totally straightforward which is why it is so satisfying when they are accomplished.

I am so glad you are making progress getting rid of tha****er weight. It must be a strain on your heart.

Green SmartPoints: I have no idea. Let's call it "all the points."

Liz, your "new" living room is lovely. It's such an improvement over the original. I'm with DianeO ... you're hired! And DianeO, your own home improvement projects are impressive, too. BTW, I love the learning you posted. Also, I've never heard of "breakaway screws." Ah ... the things I learn on this board! :)

Last night's Mardi Gras party was fun--lovely hostess, good food (the macronutrients of which were completely inscrutable to me), and lovely people, except for one husband who was much too attentive. Why do a few guys act like that, and why do their wives let them?. It's not attractive or flattering, just weird. But I did not let him harsh my buzz.

I finally got home and into bed at midnight and slept until after 6:30, which is close to a getting-up world record for me.

Today my plan is: Take it easy ... hydrate, read, nap, eat salads, do some yoga, walk a bit, and try not to drive to town. It's already raining here and will continue dripping all day, so it's already a Sunday designed for taking it easy.

Let's all have a salubrious Sunday. :)

Yeah, creepy flirty husbands are the worst. At this past Christmas dance one of my friend's husbands was doing that and asked me for a slow dance when he hadn't danced with his wife yet. I told him to dance with her. And no alcohol involved (at least I don't think so), as he is a newly dry alcoholic. I have since heard from others that he has always done this. And they have been married over 50 years!

I love seeing and hearing about the home decorating updating projects. Liz, your sitting area is so welcoming and also serene, much like the ocean on a calm day. Diane, isn't amazing how changing the "jewelry" of the kitchen makes such a big impact. The carpet has been torn up in our dining room for a month while my husband prepares to put down hardwood floors. Turns out the subfloor needed a lot of repairs. I don't mind though, the carpet was so abused, I'd rather look at the clean subfloor :)

A plague on icky flirty husbands. When we visited my bff in her home in Mexico City, she pointed out the husbands who had been icky, and which one had grabbed her ass. While I'm sure I'd never be attracted to a man who thinks like that, nor stay married to one, I feel sorry for their wives too. They, the husbands are probably masters at gaslighting: you shouldn't talk to Judy that way, what, I was only being friendly, you're so insecure, it was just some laughs between friends..double ick.

Sun is shining, time to read the Sunday paper, then a trip to Costco. We need 5000 roles of toilet paper and a gallon of cottage cheese.

Yep - double ick. And even if they can't admit it I bet the wives see it at least some of the time and hate it.

The mall closest to me is starting to look pretty sad. Lots of empty storefronts. I'm actually about 15 minutes from the fabled Mall of America, but I don't really shop there. Looks lime I might have to start.

Where do you all shop for clothes? I really liked Dress Barn, which sadly is closed now. Also Herbergers Department Store (also know as Yonkers, and Carson's) went out of business. I bought a lot of things at Penny's, but they don't carry Nicole Miller or Bisou Bisou any more. I still like their Liz Claiborne line, and their atheleisure wear brand. Macy's seem**** and miss. I like INC., but can't really afford it until it's marked down. When I was losing weight, my dream was to shop at Ann Taylor or Loft, but now that I can, I don't find things there that thrill me enough for the price. I go to consignment stores, and have had some luck with that. I tried ordering some things on Amazon, and probably send 80% back. I just ordered 2 dresses from eShakti. I love, love looking at what they have on their website, we'll see if I like them as much in real life.

What's your go to?

I use ThredUP.com a LOT. Talbots (on sale) for classical and Old Navy for casual. And Walmart for cheap work-out stuff. PLUS most other sources you can come up with, but those are my main ones.

Oh yeah and Lilly Pulitzer but only on sale or via consignment.
