  5. Yesterday's Insights: I love clean. Start from where I am !!

My weight jumped thirteen ******G pounds from last WW weigh in to yesterday. I was taken off my Lasix (diuretic ) when my potassium was so low when I was hospitalized with hypoglycemia. (I finished what I had left, running out a week and a half ago.) I met my new Primary Care in the afternoon, thank God !! First, she said I never should have gone off Lasix abruptly. She started me on Spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic. My Fitbit is linked with an ap called Cardio, that alerts when heart rates are above or below thresholds you set. I had five alerts for heart rates over 135 yesterday, one of them NOT being when I weighed in, surprisingly. PC believes my heart is struggling to move all of tha****er. I had the presence of mind to have WW reset my starting number, as digging myself out of a hole to get back to where I began was putting my head in a bad place. Starting fresh, from where I am !! Golly Shel, I miss your wisdom !!

Oh Diane, you need to get that fluid out of your body! I'm glad you have a new PCP and hope she gets it under control quickly. I knew when I saw your range number that something was really off. No one gains 13 pounds in a week unless their body is holding a lot of water.

Weight 129.2, WW blue points 8. I think I am a bit constipated, but I tend to go in cycles especially when not eating as much. My WW weigh-in is this morning. Since I am back in lifetime range I only have to go once a month, but I'm going to keep going weekly for now for the accountability since I want to lose another 6-8 pounds.

The beach was wonderful yesterday with a nice breeze and refreshing, but swimmable water. It would have been too hot to go on the pool where the water temp is 90.

Today my floor is being repaired (a few tiles sound hollow when I walk on them). We may go out to eat somewhere outside tonight. This warmth is tough during the day but nice for outdoor dining.

Have a good Thursday!

I'll do my full post later today, but right now ... jeez Louise, DianeO! What a ... I don't even know what to call it! I am SO, SO GLAD you have a new, smarter PCP. I'm also glad there are potassium-sparing diuretics out there. Had no idea that was a thing or necessary. But yea for Big Pharma!

And yes, I miss Shel all the time. Was just thinking yesterday how much I'd like her advice on this little gout scare of mine. Which I'm beginning to think wasn't really a gout attack. We'll eventually figure it out. BTW, turns out that losing weight can trigger a gout event. Also turns out many people have only a single event and then never again.

Also turns out wine doesn't exacerbate gout. :) Beer and whiskey ... that's another story.

Oh, and the "gout diet" recommended for people who suffer from gout a lot is exactly the way I've been eating for years. Sheesh!

Anyway, back to you, Diane ... I know you and your PCP are going to get this water retention situation under control.

P.S. This morning is my WW weigh-in day. BTW, my scale bounced back up this morning to 137.6. What else is new? LOL!

Weight 191.6 bye bye 180s. Grrr

Lord have mercy, Diane!! That's insane! So glad you have something you can take besides the Lasix. I take a minimal amount of the spiro for my PCOS symptoms because it's also an anti-androgen, which they figured out when long ago they prescribed it to men as a diuretic/blood pressure pill and they grew breasts. So they mostly give it to women now. I hope your floodgates open soon!!

Just therapy today, which is probably needed, but not desired. I bore myself in there talking about the same stuff all the time. But my eating issues are still alive and well, so same stuff it is. I finished the day in a good place yesterday, so at least I didn't let it become a total "throw in the towel" event.

Don't you hate the weight bounces? Down, then bouncy right back up.... very slow losing now that our metabolism isn't Post-WLS level.

I do! But this was entirely my doing with my out of control Monday and Tuesday. I hope I can undo it soon...

It is warm in the sun here today. Kids are spending reading time outside on the lawn in the sun. Well, except for two who want to remain inside, so I'm sitting in the doorway to monitor both inside and out. I'm a little chilly cuz I'm sitting in the shade....

Ella is like her daddy and does not come out of anesthesia well. She was still groggy this morning. Somehow she managed to hop up on our bed and pass out after I fell asleep. She was pretty pathetic when she got home. Standing around whining and looking miserable. Ron felt so bad for her that when he saw that she was fast asleep and comfortable, he slept on the couch instead of moving her. So Ella and I spent the night together. LOL!

Weight was down a few more ounces today. BUT, I kind of lost my no sugar composure late, late, LATE last night. It wasn't horrible, but I ate 3 mini dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe's. Not even close to one of my normal sugar rampages, so I'm not beating myself up over it. I simply wanted to come clean here. I find that admitting my food foibles allows me to be more forgiving of myself. It's not like I ate a box of Girl Scout Cookies, a pint of ice cream, or had a free for all with snack sized chocolates. Believe me there have been days when 2 doughnuts, a half dozen cookies, chocolates, assorted pastries and ice cream have passed these lips with no problem. I do mean all in the same day! So, in perspective 3 mini dark chocolate PB cups is pretty tame by comparison.

I am noticing this week how deeply rooted my "need" to eat for pleasure is. I don't mean recreational pleasure, but simple mental stability pleasure to feel correct in my mood. I am guessing my dopamine receptors are so screwed up that the lack of sugar or simple, processed carbs is causing alarms to go off in my brain. It wants its fix. I am struggling a bit with that today. I'm guessing the foray into the chocolate yesterday was caused by that.

RON BOUGHT THREE BOXES OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES. Just sayin'... Here's my thing... I fussed about being on the no sugar bandwagon and fell off so I feel "guilty" or chagrinned to ask him to not bring that stuff in the house. Does that make sense? UGH....

Get to see the shrink today. I think it is time. LOL!

Finally back home after yoga class, WW weigh-in and meeting, a long consultation at the USPO about getting a second passport (I have to mail current passport off to a Russian embassy to obtain visas for a September trip to Eastern Russia, and the visas process will take as long as three months ... ai yi yi, those passive-aggressive Russkies!). Unfortunately, I'll need a passport to go to Europe in early May. Hence, I need a back-up passport. Then a visit to the town newspaper to talk about a charity-related press release I'm drafting, then to a book club luncheon and discussion, then to the County Health Department to get a copy of my birth certificate for the second passport application (they printed it off right there!), then picked up my mail at the UPS Store, then sat in the car and made a phone call to correct a bill from my home security company that was incorrect, then came home to log another couple thousand steps. And now I'm ready for a glass of wine! Come on, four o'clock!

Oh ... and the WW scales showed a 0.8 pound drop for the week. That puts me only 0.9 pound from my WW goal. Please, dear Lord, let this 0.9 begone next week, because it means no more dues starting in March ... amen!

That is all. :)

I'm afraid Diane M.s New hobby for the next two weeks is going to be peeing! I lost 17 pounds in two weeks after giving birth to my daughter, and I felt like all I did was shuffle between my newborn and the bathroom. Sure felt better when it was gone, and I hope you do very soon also.

It was -13 this morning, but a very light wind, so I didn't cry while walking across the parking lot into the school. Tomorrow we are promised an unbelievable high of 40 degrees.

This is the first work week since the beginning of November that I don't have at least one IEP meeting scheduled. I had 2 last week, and just finished writing up the last of those this afternoon. That means I have no IEPs in the pipeline until my next meeting next Thursday. Feels liberating!

My weight has ever so slowly been inching down again, and is at the lowest it's been in my too high maintenance range of the past two years. (If that makes sense). If I just go down .2 pounds I'll be lower than I can remember, back into losing "New fat" instead of playing around with the same 5-6 pounds. It's psychologically encouraging, and though .2 itself is meaningless, another . 2 and another, and so on could add up to some progress.

That's all good stuff happening there, DD. Sounds almost silly to say out loud the bald-faced truth that little bits eventually add up to BFDs.

Enjoy your IEP-less week. And the 40-degree weather. That's what the high today around here was, too. :)
