- Yesterday's Insights: Getting out of a rip tide and a negative vortex are similar.
Yes, getting out of a rip tide and a negative vortex are amazingly similar. Instead of panicking and fighting, conserve valuable energy and swim at a diagonal with the current, slowly and steadily making your way to solid footing. Sometimes you may have to go a bit further out before making your way back in.
Peps.. loved your allowed myself to be... (insert: hungry, sad, lonely, uncomfortable). Such a powerful and critical component of a healthy life ! We've all found that stuffing those feelings doesn't work. Thanks for the reminder to stop, identify the feeling, then allow it to lose its power by not fighting it.
Ann... you've definitely got it ... a richness to the quality of your life. You consistently strive to attain it, and take the time to recognize it and honor it with gratitude.
Ceci.. so glad we don't have to picture you with a face mask ! Thanks for the Kodiak tip. Our WW coach gave us a recipe that substitutes a box of sugar free yellow cake mix for the flour.
Shirl...so excited to understand more and more of your aussie lingo ! Keep it up, immersion is the best !!
Liz and DD... have to say I am sooo envious of the sun and warmth you are about to encounter. Liz, good on you for all of those donations. I'm sending positive thoughts to you and those TY notes. DD, continue to be impressed by your compassion. Asking students for their input before assigning parts was fabulous !
Diane... have you considered writing a book about your interesting gallery people ? Oh, the stories you could tell !

Pulled another log out of the burn pile. Eastern red cedar. 10 inches on the small end. made me feel productive. Good for making part of another raised bed. I did get some firewood for DS. Almost got 3 saw logs cut before the chainsaw broke. It is in the yard about 100 ft from the saw mill. My little tractor can not even budge it. Hopefully DS has one that will.
Well the EPA component in Omega 3 oils does appear to significantly improve my mood. How do I know this? Because I ran out. I got some yesterday. It was little better by the time I went to sleep. Slept like a good baby.
Years ago I took handfuls of supplements but could not tell any difference. In any of the reasons I was taking them. I take CBD oil, a multi vitamin and Areds2 for my eyes and now the omega 3. As a two for, I also eat tums before bed as a calcium supplement because I quit taking my Zantac. Controls my reflux and calcium too.
Raining here today. We used to say it is a dry heat when we lived in the 4 corners area and it is a dry cold when we lived in AK. The thing about the south is I freeze in the winter because the wet cold goes to the bone. Get outside and move around then your clothes get wet from sweat. Then you freeze all over again. I measure the humidity by how many shirts I go through that day. I would bike ride in AZ when it was over 100 degrees. Try that in the south and breathe at the same time.
We pick up Adalyn today from school. May pick her up early because the rain will keep them inside. That is a good thing about this shop. Lots of room to play.
More later, David

193.2! Back under pre-NZ! I have officially burned off all those peanut M&Ms...
It was so nice and warm yesterday. It felt good to be outside a bit. It's going to get warmer this week. Today I'm heading to the movies with a friend.
Bonus for those on green with those muffins, through the magic of the app, while 1 is 2 points, 2 is only 3! But don't pu****; 3 is 5 (I like to play a game with the app called "What if I ate all of these?"). Nice when the rounding is in your favor. They taste good day 2 also.
Anyway, I've had my coffee. Off to clean myself up for the day.
The rounding is weird on some things.

Today I'm again posting late (for me). This morning's scales said 139 pounds! I got really excited about that. It'll probably go bouncy-bounce again, but it's good finally to be bouncing from the 130s. :)
Now, about yesterday's calories and WW Smart Points ... yes, it's all true, but here's what happened. The luncheon yesterday was lovely. And all would have been ok, but I ate dessert. After I ate it, I discovered that the hostess had bought the dessert, complete with praline sauce, from Colton Restaurant's. I had NO idea what I was eating or how many calories until today! Ah, the price of education.
Completely weirdly, that dessert seemed to have an unexpected (positive) result on the scales this morning. We'll find out tomorrow what the real damage was.
Tomorrow is my WW fourth week weigh-in. My loss won't resemble Ceci's great four-week result, but in my defense I've been working out like a banshee this month and wager I've built at least one or two pounds of muscle that didn't exist four weeks ago. Likewise, I feel darned good about my overall January 2020 weight loss, eating, exercise, hydration (it's getting better!) as all those behaviors relate to our initial reasons for being here. Halfway through my sixth year post-VSG, I understand that my fitness and health are due to my long-haul lifestyle and not about crash dieting to lose as much weight as quickly as possible. P.S. I also understand that I won't be eating Colton's bread pudding with praline sauce any time soon!
My cleaner came back this morning, at my request, and remedied most of my nit-picks about the services delivered, and I feel a lot better about the experience. And I still wasn't an asshole. And so far no one has died.
Oh, and thanks to my fertilizer/lawn guys, my yards, hedges and evergreens now look civilized again, and all my dead leaves are hidden in a compost pile behind a hill. It's really lookin' good around here. :) It's time for the county road graders to come through and smooth up my gravel driveway for the usual $40 donation to the Road Graders Sports Bar Fund.
P.S. Weather here through Friday is cool, cloudy, and drippy. But the weekend will be sunny with a predicted high on Sunday of 66. :)

Good Morning All
Checking in with a cuppa :) Going to be a hot day today and tommorrow with temps ranging between 102 - 105. DS and I have to go and get another load of paving bricks once I finish work. No doubt will be dripping in sweat ! Picked up 560 of them free - a lady about 10 mins from here was giving them away ( I never go empty handed so she now has a jar of our homemade chutney). They will be perfect as the base for the greenhouse DH is building up at the farm. Feeling thankful
Whilst on the subject of giving, I have finally started sorting through some of the cupboards here. Have put it off for so long as its overwhelming. I still have boxes in there for when I packed up this house in order to rent it out all those years ago. Have decided to do a box a day. Open, sort, purge or put away. Its meaning that I am giving away lots of stuff. Yesterday was 5 wall hangings. Sold a set of King Size Sheets too. Will put the extra funds towards the holiday we have just booked with DSS and his family. Going to Townsville, Mission Beach and Cairns for a week in August with them and the grandkids. Should be lovely. I have booked all the flights and accomodation so far.
Have DSD and her partner coming for dinner tonight. I have a Beef Topside Roast out - since it will be so hot I will likely cook it early and serve with a range of salads. Looking forward to seeing them.
Well I had best go and get my work day started .... In the theme of Aussie Slang I will say
Hoo Roo or Ooroo to you all x
(Hoo roo/Oooroo Goodbye)

Weight 132.6, WW blue points 15. Down .8 at WW weigh-in, but since I was up .6 last week, it is a net of .2. Sooooo slowwwww. And I haven't built muscle mass like Ann though I am back in the routine of yoga again.
More TY's written today. I also called to sign up for my Medicare Supplemental plan and found out that the one I wanted has been removed from the choices. I don't understand why so want to look into that. Frustrating.
Have a good rest of your Wednesday!

When I am at work, the energy from the students carry me forward. But this long dark January leaves me so depleted when I get home. So weather service tracks cloud cover, and the facts are presented on the local news: We have not experienced such a level of cloud cover in January since 1963. Luckily, January is coming to a close.
Yes, tomorrow evening we fly towards the sun.
Physical therapy is going well. Improvements in strength and range of motion. Here's to pain free walking one day :)
