Interesting article and I definitely agree that it is an emotional regulation problem. I can be super good at being organized but I can procrastinate for a long time about things I don't want to do or are uncomfortable about doing. I find that putting those tasks on a list somehow makes me feel compelled to do them. Though I put off doing that to continue to avoid doing them...

Just got back from my clearance rack treasure hunt. I discovered I needed a yellow rain coat that was on clearance, although I'm not sure WHY a spring raincoat would be on clearance in Minnesota in January, but I'll take it. Maybe yellow was just too much for our Nordic souls, because the identical black ones on the rack where not on clearance. Bought a few other things that I will enjoy.

I'm going over to my husband's brother's home for dinner. DH has to work, and his other sister is out of town with her husband, so I am the lone person to rep for our side of the family at this gathering. Always welcome an opportunity to let someone else cook.

Greetings Insightful Ones

Seems to be a day for insight. Liz we are glad you are comfortable here enough to share your grief feelings. Do so as much as you need. Everyone's path is a little different but hopefully all lead to a place of peace and gratitude for a life shared. We are all on this journey one way or another.

DianeO you are indeed the insight queen along with Ann. Fabulous thoughts you all share. I got nuthin today but maybe will sometime.

Right now I am just coming off eating 3 servings of skinny pop. Must remind myself that the bags it comes in are not single servings.

Had a very long gallery day yesterday which I spent keeping track of checks, dusting and walking around the garden when weather allowed.

I am going to try to make some kind of egg-shrimp baked dish tonight. Sick of plain boiled shrimp if you can believe that.

Hope to get DH to the pool tomorrow. He is like a little kid and I have to drag him.

LOL, my brother texted me to ask what it meant in a recipe when it said "cover beans with 4 inches of water"!!!!!! 65 years old and does not know how to read a recipe. He and some other guy were cooking. Seriously?

Well, thats about it. I will report if I find a good shrimp-egg bake (likely not baked under water). Diane S

What did your brother think it might mean? I can't think of anything other than putting 4 inches of water in with the beans. LOL!

Exactly. What else could you do with water and beans besides put both in a pot! He sent me a picture with many pans on the stove. No telling what they were doing. And I bet they don't have a clue on how long it takes to cook dried beans. DS

I hadn't intended to wait so long to post today, but it all got away from me. It was a bit pooped after the week's cleaning-prep and cleaning activities, which are ongoing by ME, and getting closets, bathrooms, kitchen back to rights.

And despite my not being an asshole yesterday, I'd give the cleaners I hired no more than a 7 on a 10-point scale. They didn't do some things I asked for and left parts of the house (and my porches) in a big mess. STILL, it's much cleaner around here than it was before they arrived. The top two layers of dirt are gone, and I'm now working on layer three and even layer four in a few spots, e.g., washing baseboards, which they merely dusted. Geez, people, have you never heard of wet rags?! I'll grant you, not everyone has a trove of toothbrushes and Q-tips to clean out corners of doors, windows, carpets, shelves, etc. In my strong personal opinion, professional cleaning teams need at least ONE person with a generous case of O.C.D.

Anyway ... today I was a bit pooped. I will wind up hitting daily step target of 8,500 steps, but I did only 10" of yoga-stretching. This morning I had my monthly facial, a brow dye job, and a hair styling, so that's a good thing.

Oh, and I found this black bean spaghetti at Walmart that does not suck. And a serving has 25 grams of protein (as much as my GNC morning shake). Tonight I made an Italian dinner with the "pasta," sautéed chicken, Bertolli Hearty Marinara Sauce, and grated Parmesan. It was excellent!

That's all I got tonight, kids.

Hope your day was good enough. Mine was not especially exciting, but definitely better than many that have come and gone.

Ah yes, the good enough day. It can be rather comforting. I like excitement and novelty, but sometimes a bit of the familiar and a comfortable pace are needed too.

The day was a beautiful day and was able to get out and be active. Cut up some firewood for DS and DIL. I do love to cut wood into smaller pieces. This was a 30" hickory tree that died standing. It was pushed over when a large track hoe was cleaning up other areas of the farm a year ago. I should be able to get 3 saw logs out of the trunk and the top will be firewood. Fixed one chainsaw and tore up one. The 3rd one is dull. I will try to sharpen it in the morning. I worked as long as I could then got a hot soak.
