Not eating a hostess's offerings is awesome, Cecily! "Guilt eating" ... oh boy, that's a term I'm going to meditate about. Love it.

Guilt Eating! What a concept! I have not considered that a "Thing", but now that you mention it, I've done it. However, I think I used the "guilt eating" as a way to rationalize what I wanted to do anyway! True confessions....

I have often used it as a rationalization too!

It also triggered my desire to apologize for not showing appreciation by eating her pretty food, but I bit my tongue and forced my apology back down. I had nothing to be sorry for! And by not drawing attention to my abstinence, it was a non-event. Any guilt or slight was all in my own head. I think I forget that while food may be the center of my mental universe, it isn't for other people. How novel and freeing that must be!
