It is a great photo. Not only does it captures the man, partner, dad that you know. The photo captures light, pleasures of a smile, action of the ocean and Paul facial reactions to the sun and wind. I like it too.

Off to the movies today with friends to see Little Women. Not my favorite story, but it'll be nice to spend time with my friends. Still on track foodwise. 'Tis all for now!

Cecily, I'd really love a movie review after you see it.

Greetings Friends

Sitting here eating some store bought guacamole. Actually pretty good because it has a lot of veggies in it. No crackers or chips. Thats my effort at healthy eating today.

Our power went out at about 5 am. So I stayed in bed until 11 to keep warm. DH the uber nerd got up and got out these battery packs he bought to plug the refrigerator in. I was also able to plug into it to make coffee. Better than the camp stove. So even though the batteries are ugly and take up space I guess we will keep them. Also having a solar contractor come by next week.

The power outage was due to heavy snows inland. We got a lot of rain here which turned into snow in the mountains and it took down the lines. But it was back on by 1 pm. Not too bad. I have friends who live in the hills inland and they came to the coast when the snow was predicted because they were afraid of getting snowed in and they had a medical appointment. Hazards of rural California living. The midwest was much better equipped to deal with snow and power loss.

Liz I am so glad you made it through the ceremonies and that you have a breather. And that you have family around but not to a smothering degree. The picture of Paul is fabulous. Good choice. And glad you have Florida in a couple of weeks. Lol on the duster leaf blower.

Yep Cecily, give review of little women. I read that when I was about 12 and barely remember it but I have a childhood friend who was named Meg after it.

Still loving the WW stuff. I might need to learn more.

Made a version of that Thai chicken coconut soup last night. The secret ingredient was a small blob of sugar free catsup.

I didn't do much today using power outage as excuse. But I did go by the studio and made a couple of small figures and then hit the organic food store. So life just rolls along.

My brother is doing well with the new treatment. He has a friend staying with him to help out. I am grateful he is not along.

Hugs all Diane S

We're in the middle of a winter storm right now, and yes, streets are already plowed and no power loss. Still nasty out there though, ploughed streets look slippery, so I'll just stay cozy in the house.

Little Women review. I have to say I liked this one quite a bit better than previous iterations of the story. Greta Gerwig is very talented as a writer and director. It was beautiful from a visual standpoint. I had a few quibbles... I think Timothee Chalamet seemed too young for the role, though he's similar in age to the women in the film. He's so slight and baby faced compared to all the female actors he looks like he's 13 (he's a hard to imagine 24). His clothes were all way oversized as though they were trying to make him look older or bigger? He just looked like a kid playing dress up. Plusses, he's charming and quite beautiful. Florence Pugh did a lovely job with Amy. I usually really dislike Amy, but she played her less spoiled and entitled than in previous takes on the book. Saoirse Ronan was brilliant as always. She is such a tremendous actor. One last thing - there are a lot of flashbacks. There were several points where I found it very hard to follow where the story was in time. But overall, thumbs up!

I hope to this soon. My daughter gave a review very similar to yours. I also love Greta Gerwigs work. And Saoirse Ronan, I loved her so much in Brooklyn, she was luminous.

The snow started at 1pm and things got dicey fast. We were going to meet friends for dinner, but we all agreed we could reschedule for a less treacherous night. I don't know why for sure, but I have snacking ALL night. Not good. Not sure what taste sensation I'm after. Biggest mistake, I did not make dinner, so my brain doesn't read, I ate. I just finished a low sugar hot chocolate with fairlife milk. Hoping the protein scratches whatever food itch I'm experiencing.

I probably won't be going anywhere tomorrow either. Wind will be blowing around the new snow, creating blizzard effect. I have some great books to keep me occupied, and will definitely make a real meal. :)
