Thanks for all of your support yesterday ! It really meant a lot and helped tremendously ! Down three (3) pounds from yesterday...water for sure ! Being out in the sun was fabulous too ! The wind is howling today, and they're having an ice event further north. We're so grateful for the new windows, as the drapes & curtains no longer blow with the windows closed.
Paula, it feels so good to have you back !! Ann, your dance class sounds amazing ! Ceci, great job navigating your outing. Peps, it has to be such mixed emotions pairing off your puppies. I am confident in your ability to determine who goes where. Are you going to keep or co-own one from this litter ? DD, your trip to NYC sounds fabulous. I'd vote for staying in the Airbnb in Harlem...such a vibrant place now, with public transit and walking availability. David, hope Adalyn gets to see bees soon ! Yes, after hearing 9, 10, 9 hundreds of times in response to his level of pain, you could have knocked me over Thursday when he responded ONE, with no Tramadol. Liz, hope the shopping trip with DD was successful. Be especially gentle with yourself as you prepare for a challenging week. The urns are exquisite. Shirl, hope the fire danger is lessening. Diane, good for you getting DH to let go of some stuff. Bonnies...please check in...you are missed !

I second EVERYTHING DianeO said!
Yesterday was a very quiet day here. I wound up taking an hour-and-a-half-long nap. Must've needed it. Lately, a big nap like that happens at least once a week. My doc has ordered a new thyroid test for me next week to see if my thyroid Rx needs to be changed. I am definitely less energetic than I used to be.
Oh ... and the results of my annual mammogram last week were "normal." I always worry about that test, because I have the biggest risk factor for breast cancer--two breasts!
I talked to a good friend yesterday who's probably in the early stages of dementia. She's coping now, but gosh, the prospect for her is so sad to imagine.
Gee, I sound like an old person! It?s time I bucked up and accepted that my elder years are bringing all kinds of challenges that used to be theoretical.
It snowed here late yesterday afternoon--not much, just enough to whiten everything up outside. This morning temps are in the low twenties. It would be a lovely morning for a walk in the woods. We'll see if I have the guts for it. :)

Sounds like you are feeling better Diane? Good to hear, though I was surprised your DH was ready so soon to move forward with the other knee. There is something to be said for getting it all over with quickly though.
It is 60, the wind is howling here too and our generator has been running for 2 hours. I do love having it. About 7/8 of our house is on the generator so most important things are functioning. The usual plug for the coffee maker wasn't but I just had to move it and I have my coffee thank goodness.
We ordered the cake and flowers yesterday. I think the flowers are going to be beautiful. Colorful, with textures and blue hydrangeas. Not funeral colors. DH wouldn't want those. Oh and remember I said I refused to buy any funeral clothing...Talbots had a black dress with white piping 60% off so I did get one dress. I think the other smaller dress will be okay.
Pictures have to be finished today and tomorrow. Family begins arriving late tomorrow. And funerals go through next weekend as a good friend of ours died 5 days after DH and his services are next weekend. I am feeling old right now too.
Have a quiet Sunday if you can.

It does seem like attending funerals is one season in life. We go to quite a few funerals now, friend's parents, our aunts and uncles, and now our own generation when my sil passed in May. When my husband's mother died so suddenly at 60, we were in our 20s. My husband said he got great comfort from my grandparents support. They didn't in any way diminish his grief, but, by then, they had experienced so much themselves, their presence was resolute and calm. They showed him he would survive.
Liz I hope the support and presence of friends and family sustain you. And may there be laughter through the tears as memories are shared.
On the flipside, it is a new season of weddings as our children's friends and nieces and nephews are sending invites, and also the occasional same age friend is entering a beautiful second act.
In January I always miss living in California.
Sigh!

Good Morning All, Popping in at the start of my working week..... Had a wonderfully busy weekend. I am yet to go back and catch up on everyones news but shall do so over the course of the day.
Friday I finished work at 2pm as my DSS was dropping off our eldest grandson on the way to a wedding. DH and I had a lovely night with him. He was snuggled in bed by 7pm as he was super tired. DSS came back and stayed after the wedding. It was nice and he helped DH clean out the gutters and install a second downpipe at the front of the house on Saturday whilst I looked after our grandson and cooked etc. DH and I had a nice Burmese meal on Saturday night - delicious. Sunday we met DSD and her partner in the city, had coffee then wandered around exploring. Many laughs and great times. Lun*****hinatown then more wandering. We all went to see War Horse - theatre show - it was fabulous. Very well done. We had bought each other tickets for Christmas. Hot Chocolate and brownies finished the night before we said our goodbyes - hence I did not get on the scales this am - ha ha ha. No regrets though. We did over 15,000 steps though so that will have helped
Today is just work then Im catching up with a friends son who has Asphergers. I didnt get to see him before Christmas and as both his parents have passed and he really doesnt have anyone - wanted to spend some time with him. Plan on taking a gift bag with snacks and treats - plus a couple of home cooked meals to pop in the freezer as he misses home cooking
Happy Sunday to you all xxx

You may be the kindest person I know, Shirl!
