Happy new year to all.

DD, I could not just stay up because I had to go somewhere. Especially after a party.

Liz, it is quite common to have to use less medication dosage and less frequent. Control of agitation often catches up to the meds and nursing staff will back the meds down as they are able to. I am so glad his agitation has been controlled. Peace to you and your family.

Adalyn and DD came over today. She was the most affectionate today that she has ever been. She hugged my right knee and then hugged my left knee. When she is good she is very good. She is well today. A great way to start out the year. She even hugged the dogs. Tried to hug the cat. The cat would have none of that.

I haven't really gotten into the WW discussions but I am not overwhelmed by it. If it works for you great. I have done WW in the past. Lost weight. In my opinion it is the best plan out there.

The word of the year for me is vertical. Physically, mentally and diet. I spent a good part of 2019 horizontal recovering from 2 surgeries. I want to spend more time upright. I need to get up now. More later, David

I'm loving the words of the year. I might use everyone's collective wisdom, and make myself a collage containing the words. If you are thinking of one, please share!

Hmm. The word that keeps coming to mind is Equilibrium as I seem to swing wildly between total control and chaos and I don't like the way that feels or the results it yields. Definitions Google gives me for equilibrium are:

  • A calm and steady state of mind
  • A state of physical balance
  • Supply and demand are equal
  • A state of emotional and mental balance

Antonyms are:

  • Imbalance
  • Instability
  • Insanity

A calm and steady state of mind.... sounds lovely. Is this a more mannerly way to say, I don't give a f&$@, as stated earlier by Miss 150? There are many paths to serenity.....

Ha! I love hers, but for me a calm and steady state of mind is more about anxiety, all or nothing thinking, and wild swings of my behavioral pendulum!

Happy New Year to all!

I hope the cash outlay on this first day of 2020 does not foretell the future. Our dryer has been giving up the ghost for a few weeks and finally required a repairman. Repairman said, don't bother! LOL! So instead of spending $500 on repairs, we spent the bucks on a new dryer. Since the washer is 15 years old Ron wanted to get a new washer, too. Sure.... Let's just hemorrhage money! But after visiting 3 appliance places and armed with my research, we ended up with a high capacity Electrolux front loading washer and dryer set. A stroke of good luck has the new appliances arriving tomorrow between 1 and 4 pm.

I have been thinking a lot about my New Year Goals. I'm not able to really put it all out there quite yet. Still a bit of a tangled up, jumbled up ball of thought. Some gut flipping happening today while reading posts. That is always a signal for me that I need to examine something. It is a warning that something is not right within, so need to figure that out, too. It is all related, I am sure.

I did tell the shrink about WW, so I am now committed to following through. I forced myself to tell the shrink about WW because I knew I need an outside accountability besides this group to help me see it through in a timely manner. I should really join on line tonight. Sigh.....

I hope that we all have a wonderfully fulfilling 2020.

My washer dryer set are 32 years old. They are really outdated, but at this point we're curious to see just how much further they can go! They're on a concrete floor in a basement. Maybe they'll rust out from the bottom before they actually break down. I must admit, your shiney new appliances, manufactured in this century, sound enticing.

KEEP THEM AS LONG AS THEY WORK! They used to make them so much sturdier! My Florida set is probably as old as yours as the previous owner bought them second hand. They work great. Nowadays if you get 15 years you are doing well.
