Ruth Gordon was no slouch! The actress had a career that spanned 66 years. She was staring on B'way at 19 and was a bit of a hottie!

She is one of only a few women to successfully write and direct in the male dominated hierarchy of 40's Hollywood. Talent, brains,- the whole package! My hero. (Ida Lupino is also on a pedestal from that era!)

Greetings Great People

I so love hearing everyone's Christmas stories and traditions. I am grateful to be a guest at someone else's house year after year. The holiday has mixed emotions for me. As a young adult I resented all the work. Then I had a nephew born on Christmas and it was always about his birthday and fun. But at age 17 he killed himself. I had just moved to California and went right back for funeral. After that my mom got weird and we just didn't do family Christmas anymore. So its good for me to have a completely different picture.

The description of all the details or organizing a family dinner is so spot on. I have been both the organizer and the servant in the above. Bringing the cheese tray to someone's house is best.

I like hearing about WW and all these colorful food plans. Eager to hear how well it works and if its a long term thing. Years ago I knew a woman who got kicked out of weigh****chers because she was normal weight and complained too much about how she knew she would go to holiday parties and overeat.

Yep, get a cleaning service everyone who can. I hate cleaning and am glad I don't have to do it.

Sun is out big today. I am hoping to get to the pool after the studio and drag DH along.

Cruising for Christmas is a great idea. Any time for that matter. We did an Alaska cruise and referred to our ship as "The Binge Barge". I had chocolate chip cookies delivered by room service at 4 pm every day. But I never had a big gulp of soft serve.

More pups Peps! Yay for well bred dogs.

Cheers all. Diane S

So sad about Nephew... suicide is tragic, but especially so in teens. Makes me quite sad.

So sad about your nephew even though it was a long time ago. Our next door neighbors where we lived for 20 years lost their 21 year old son to suicide, a good friend lost her 25 year old niece, and our son lost a good friend a few years ago. So exceedingly sad for the families and the lost futures of those young people who couldn't see beyond the present.
