Weight 138 - no gain in the last 9 days which was my only goal (though even a slight loss would have been gratefully accepted).

I agree with Diane S. that we are one pretty diverse and interesting group sharing our life experiences. I think we are unique and lucky!

DH was pretty calm all afternoon yesterday after the doctor put in orders to hopefully ensure that going forward. You are correct on the hospital situation where the hospitalist is basically in charge. I think they are afraid of liability if the patients family complains and also about having to justify the use of a drug like Haldol. DH will be fully managed by the hospice doctor and nurses once he moves back to his facility. I am praying that DH remains calm today and the 1:1 can be discontinued. Once he is safe without one for 24 hours he can leave the hospital. Which means DH will spend his remaining days heavily sedated and asleep most of the time. Much better than the misery he was in even when partially alert. BIL is still struggling to understand and wanted us to push protein, high-calorie drinks. I explained to BIL that considering the state DH has arrived to that prolonging his life is not in his best interest. In other words if he is thirsty or hungry we will give him something but we are not going to pu****

I am leaving for the hospital shortly and worried about 3 things: Did he have a calm night? Will they change the hospitalist so I have to go through the spiel again? If all is well will DH's facility allow a weekend transfer or are we stuc****il Monday?

But I will do one self-care thing - getting my haircut. It is flat without humidity and too much length so it needs it badly. BIL theoretically will spell me at the hospital. If not, hopefully DD can.

Have a fine Friday!

Yesterday's metrics aren't great, but I give myself an A+ for measuring and reporting everything. Boy, it's harder this time than I thought it would be finding my way back to normal.

Still haven't been to the grocery store. That happens today. You can't eat clean if you don't have clean food.

Today I'll clean house some more but will mostly spend the day with my sister who normally works long hours and plays with her grandchildren. She's taking today off to spend much of it with me--a true Christmas gift.

On the topic of which gender carries the greater Christmas load, in my extended family it's mostly women. However, my husband was the world's champ gift-giver. He listened carefully all year to what others said they yearned for (big and small) and always delivered at Christmas. I did all the wrappings (that wasn't his super power). During our early years, he spent days wrapping the house and surrounding trees with Christmas lights. I took care of inside decorations--stockings, stairway banisters draped with greenery, poinsettias, candles, etc. We worked together on Christmas Eve dinners. We both despised putting up the tree and despised even more taking it down. About eight years ago we stopped all that silliness. After he died I gave away all our decorations to my sister who makes excellent use of them. This morning I'm so happy not to to be staring at holiday decorations that must be taken down and stored. One day when I move to a smaller place I might get enthused enough to put up a very small tree, but nothing fancier. Those days of Christmas Decorating Competitions are done.

Further on that topic, this old tweet is again making the rounds this season. Hilarious!

I forgot to weigh in on the man vs. woman Christmas decorating. I was lucky that it was pretty even in our home. DH usually did the big tree and did all the cooking. I did other decorating and setting up the table. DH probably bought and wrapped more packages though I did the assembling of kid toys.

I don't remember a lot about what it was like as a child because my father died when I was 12. I suspect it was still somewhat even as my mother didn't do much of the decorating. I do remember that my father definitely did the outside lights, window candles and probably the tree. My mother did the cooking, most of the shopping and the wrapping.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CECILY!!!

I just spent 90 seconds looking for my reading glasses that were on top of my head. Welcome to 48!

Movie and lunch with a friend today and going to an English Panto with my UK friend and her family tonight.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

LOL - A friend posted a picture on FB recently of she and a friend who were both searching for their glasses and found them on their heads.

I've only recently heard from multiple people stories of having misplaced their cell phones and venting their massive frustration to friends -- while they are talking on their "lost" cell phones!

I'm not yet that bad. But I'm sure I'll get there.

Very cool! BTW, when I first read your post about your missing glasses I read you spent 90 minutes.... 90 seconds? That's nothing. Welcome to my world. Just get used to that **** It happens ALL THE TIME!
