  1. Within Range: yes
  2. General Wellbeing: 9
  3. 10,000+ Steps: 5436
  4. Fitness: pacing and hauling stuff
  5. Self-Care: knitting and meditating while waiting
  6. Fun: seeing DH rolled into his room from recovery

The Ortho is very pleased with the surgery and x-rays taken in recovery. He had been concerned that he would encounter issues related to the healing from compound break of DH's femur while in the service. He cautioned us that the femur could break when the hip prosthesis was inserted. The doctor said the procedure went remarkably smoothly. DH was not able to get up and walk last night, as the spinal anesthesia took a long time to wear off. We are still expecting him to come home tomorrow.

Over the weekend we created a flat Christmas tree that would take up less floor space with a man on a walker navigating around two romping labs. We were pleased with the results, and it is quite stable. I'm leaving to take coffee and food to DH, as they don't serve breakfast until 8, and he didn't get much sleep. The plan is for me to spend the morning, pick up some lasagna for him for lunch from the Italian place around the corner, and then get home early afternoon before the next round of snow. I was gone ten hours yesterday, and Sadie and Atlas need some loving !!

I am so glad the surgery went well! I hope DH recovers quickly and uneventfully. The tree lots great.

And how cool is it that we can get advice here about the role of PT in foot issues?

Yesterday I put up our two trees and two wreaths (all artificial). I haven't put the ornaments on the large tree yet and want to try to do that before I leave if possible.

For those of you who like technology like I do, I've discovered that I can ask the echo dot in DH's room to play music using my phone or iPad from any location. I have a webcam to put in his room so I'll know when he is there to turn music on. But I need one more thing to get it to work - a travel router to allow a secure connection for the webcam because the facility's WiFi is unsecured.

I am with DH now hoping to see the doctor with him this morning. He was good with the PCA getting him showered and shaved. Yesterday I cut his hair and nails. He seems a bit calmer but he paces constantly, apparently at night as well. He has a hard time sitting still at any time including meals. The combination of constant movement and not eating enough is what has caused his 10 pound weight loss over the last month.

Tomorrow I fly back to Florida for a week. I've missed Justice so I will be glad to get back to him and bring him back north on 12/12.

Have a thorough Tuesday!

Just know the webcam is a blessing and a curse. We use one to monitor Sadie and Atlas. It is reassuring and TMI at times.

So glad there were no complications to surgery, Diane! It's hard enough without added stresses...

Liz, the music set up sounds perfect! And yes, the PT foot advice is fantastic. I really blew it off when he mentioned it, but it sounds like it may be helpful. Our group is THE BEST.

Today I have coffee with some gal pals and need to go to the grocery store and maybe think about getting a Christmas tree. I decided last year was it for my artificial tree. One light strand is out (and attached through otherworldly means to the branches meaning I can't figure out how to swap it out) and though it's very realistic looking, it really smells like plastic and every year it irks me. So it'll be donated and I'm getting a fresh tree.

It's raining here again - a promising start to our very short rainy season and hopefully means some greening up of our brown hills.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

Greetings Buddies

DianeO so glad DH hip surgery went well. He will be up and around before you know it. And your tree looks great. Good idea to keep it low profile up against the wall. We all need to be more conscious of obstacles in the house.

Liz glad you are getting DH the attention he needs. Good use of technology. Sorry DH is so agitated. I guess thats a part of the illness.

Wow all kinds of foot pt information. I am about to embark on foot pt next week. I have this condition called plantar fibromatosis that is the same thing going on in my hands - growth of unnecessary scar tissue. I am picking up some custom orthotics today (which I doubt will help much) and go to some pt next week. We can all compare notes on the foot pt. In my case I don't expect much. Radiation is one treatment that sometimes slows the progression of my condition and I sought that but ended up with foot doctor and pt. Cecily be glad that foot doctor didn't want to do surgery. Foot surgery sucks.

Peps hope the pups are thriving.

I am off to Costco to look for healthy food that is ready made. Last night DH ate mac and cheese from a box because I was too tired to cook. Must remedy that.
