DD is right. We are heroes! Which reminds me that most human beings are trying to be heroes, and some really are.
This morning I hope that DD and others feel more refreshed after a challenging week. Liz, I'm thinking of you packing today for your first solo trip to Florida. I so hope the trip is incredibly restorative.
I don't like this morning's scale results, but I love how I ate yesterday and how active I was. It matters not a whit that I barely missed reaching 10K steps. :)
Yesterday's luncheon was a food success, thanks to a lovely salad bar and some practiced patter to avoid dessert. Last night's dinner out with friends was also a success, thanks to some grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, and a small salad, all of which was sufficiently tasty. I also enjoyed a couple of Honeycrisp apple snacks (I love that apple variety). I'm back on track. Whew! Those two 2000+ calorie days this week freaked me out a bit.
Today will include house cleaning and more leaf blowing. I'll also start a packing list for the Next Big Trip. It seems unreal that I'm actually going to Antarctica ... this is a really big deal for me! This evening I'm attending a beauty pageant for six-year-olds, including a great-niece vying for Little Miss Whatev. I shouldn't be snarky ... tonight might be feeling like HER Antarctica.
This weekend theme brought to you by the O'Jay's ... "Livin' for the Weekend"

Good morning! I do feel refreshed and ready to get some $&!t done today! Last evening was the perfect antidote. I did do one household chore: I had ordered grocery delivery earlier in the day, so at a minimum, had to put them away when they arrived. Before I ordered groceries, I wrote up a few menu ideas, and put them in Myfitnesspal to calculate their macros. I have a plan. I put my vitamins etc in a new place to remind me to take them. I looked at our old dusty recumbent exercise bike and thought, why not do 10 minutes. I'll do that again today. Maybe I'll even dust it! It's a start.
Today after my big 10 minute work out, I will do some cleaning. Tonight we're planning a movie with my bff, not sure which one yet. Tomorrow evening we have theater tickets to Steel Magnolias. But first, finish my 2nd cup of chai tea.
I guess sleep and a good cup of tea can set a few things straight.
I have returned from Lodi (CA Central Valley 2.5 hours east of SF) where the Airedale club board meeting was held. I always think I will have time to do things when I get home, but I really don't have much daylight left. Plus I am tired and don't feel like doing chores! So I'm sitting down checking in here instead!
Last night we had a date night. Was fun. The end of our dinner conversation revolved around my sugar addiction - yes I brought up the subject. However, when I mentioned my thoughts about getting off sugar Ron piped up with a judgmental, "Yes, you do" type of reply. I quickly and calmly told him to stop right there. I said that when he speaks to me like that my first instinct is to shut down and fight back. I went on to say that my instinct in retaliation against such commentary is to eat sugar/crap food as a major F.U. AND to point out all of his failings around food. My goodness, how good that felt to stick up for myself and how great it was to have the message so positively received! Win-win!
So the cat's out of the bag in that department as far as owning up to the fact that I know I need to make some changes. I was also up front about how much I don't WANT to make those changes, but at the same time DO WANT to make the changes necessary to live a healthier and yes, thinner life.
That's pretty much all I got.
I'm with you on the need to make changes in my eating and stick to them. So glad you were able to discuss it with Ron.
