Well, our sleep hygiene flew out the window !! Yesterday we did something I swore we'd never do...we bought a 43" smart tv for our bedroom ! December 3rd, DH has his left hip replaced. It is imperative that he initially not be jumped on /jarred by Sadie and Atlas, so he's going to be sequestered to the master bedroom and ensuite for a bit. DH without TV would make us both beyond miserable, so we contacted our cable service provider to schedule an installation before surgery...and they're coming today ! Sunday !! During a holiday weekend !! Argh !!!!
Heading to the gym in a bit to do the strength circuit and some walking. I designed a circuit chart for the Y we go to during the week and need to do the same for our weekend Y. I'm not feeling the positivity Diane and Ann expressed for showering at their gyms. I get the ease of hair dryers and towels provided but I really like my home routine.

Good morning!
Good plan to sequester DH. Justice jumped on DS once this week while he was recuperating from hernia surgery and he was not happy...
Last night we went to the local bar which is only about a mile from our house to listen to another band (we went last Saturday night too). They were fantastic. All the best oldies including quite a few Eagles songs (my favorite). Tons of people and everyone dances. They come on at 8, so being home by 10-11 is easy.
Today is the birthday party for DH. There will be about 25 people though they won't all be here at the same time. I hope DH does okay. I guess it will be a surprise party for him even though we have told him about it several times. Time to finish straightening up the house.
Have a surprising Sunday!

I hope everyone is having a lovely three-day weekend, especially the teachers.
November is turning into a much more socially active month than I'd planned on, which means I'm eating out or letting others feed me more than usual, which means I'm not eating as cleanly as I want to eat. So it's time to figure this **** out and cope better.
Yesterday I met my sister at a country Christmas bazaar in the village where our mother grew up. We saw so many relatives we love and learned about a monster family reunion happening next summer. Some of our other siblings will want to come to visit then to attend, so that'll be an important 2020 event for us all.
Weather here today will be even nicer (almost 70 degrees) than yesterday, so I'll be doing yardwork this afternoon, including some mowing to mulch some of this season's bumper crop of leaves.
Another autumn observation ... yesterday afternoon while deer rifles were booming all over the neighborhood, two bucks were peacefully grazing on acorns under my big oaks. Clearly, they know where their safe space is. :)
I've finally acknowledged that my exercise has gradually declined since DH died, which is why I think it's been hard for me to lose permanently these extra 5-7 pounds I've gained during 2019. The old maxim applies: If nothing changes, nothing changes. Therefore, I will ramp things up in January by going back the pool, joining a gym, and (finally!) hiring a trainer. I have no fantasies of becoming as tough as Devon, but I do want to learn how to navigate this next phase of fitness in an aging bariatric body.
And because today's theme is stayin' alive, let's all enjoy "The Final Strut!"

My family deer hunts, my Dad and my brother's family are up north in what we jokingly refer to as the compound. Not my thing, ever. Back when my Mom was more mobile, she would come and stay with me, and we would celebrate deer opener shopping and going out for brunch.
Yesterday I did go shopping, and then made some attempt to do some decluttering in my "ladies lounge" which is also an extra guest room. I am slowly transforming the small bedroom (it has been an office, a nursery, and my son's bedroom when he was younger) into a closet for me. I initially intended it to be a sort of a sitting room too, but then we were gifted a gorgeous antique brass bed. It's only a full so it fits fine. Anyhow, more clothes to donate, now bagged up.
Today, lunch with my college roommates, and then more organizing. We do not have Monday off, but DH does, so he'll stay in Boston until tomorrow evening.
A school in session Veterans Day ?! How can that be !!?

We will have an announcement that lists which school employees are veterans and which branch they served in. One of our tech people does not make a big deal of it, but over time she has shared that she is an Annapolis graduate and was a JAG attorney in the Navy. At one point, she was stationed on an Naval Aircraft Carrier, and back then, was the first female, let alone female officer, on the ship. But yes, we are in school. I don't remember ever having Veterans day off when I was a kid either. Maybe a Midwest thing? We also don't have Columbus Day off. I always joke it's because we know the truth here, that fool Columbus did not discover America, it was clearly our guy, Lief Erickson. True story. (And of course, in the end, no one could discover land that was already occupied by societies of people).
Yea, Leif! Yea, Native Americans! Yea, your tech Annapolis grad/JAT attorney/veteran!
And yea, you, for teaching tomorrow and almost every other day. :)
I don't do squat anymore. :) And I am so very good at it. :)

And like DianeS, I also love the "lady room."
Reminds me of Virginia Woolf's "A Room of One's Own."

Greetings Fall Friends
Its another classic fall day here; sunny, crisp, leaves everywhere. DH runs the mower over them and mulches them but seems like there are more and more and we just have this one maple tree in front.
Hey DianeO, a bedroom tv is a great thing. Yeah I know its not supposed to be good but I find it lulls me to sleep - makes me focus on something besides inner thoughts. Plus its essential for a person recovering from surgery. DH will have to keep a big pillow handy in case dogs get in. My DH was given an oblong pillow after hernia surgery to hold against incision when moving around and to shield from dogs. Liz your DS might benefit from one.
Not much insight here on the eating weight department. I made popeye pie the other night and it wasn't very good. Had a small quesadilla last night. Chicken pot pie tonight. I just can't seem to get into cooking anymore.
Yeah DianeO, I only like gym showering because this place is new and has private showers; not just gang showers which I hate. I am looking for some sort of shower caddy that I can hang on the door. Consider whether it would be "uncool" of me to use two towels - one on my head and one for the rest of me.
Today's mission is to move a small kiln I have in the garage down to the studio. I got it years ago used and cheap and never used it here. Studio tech likes to fix them and find uses for them. Over the years we have been given many second hand kilns and they usually be fixed and used for something.
The coast guard is very busy today with their helicopters. There is a base very near and I think on weekends they have reserve people in doing training. They do great work and often rescue people from cliffs who get stranded by tides or boats in distress.
Diamond good for you for making a lady room. Fun.
Take care all. Diane S
