It's summertime down there right now.

Temps on the Antarctic Peninsula, where I'll be, hover around 30 degrees Fahrenheit in December. That's not exactly beach weather, but probably warmer than Connecticut! ;)

Greetings Kids

So far I got the coffee in the right vessel and put my breakfast in the correct orifice. Yay me. Not much going on except I fear the sick friend will summon me. My main plans are bank, studio and hot tub. A full day for this old lady.

Yay Ann, Antarctica. I hear its great. Better go before it melts.

Liz I saw the Justice video on facebook. Love it. So wish I could let my dogs run on the beaches here but they are just too unreliable. Peps, how can I convince my dogs that if they would come when I call they could run loose sometimes? I have trained many dogs over the years; all terriers, and some were innately reliable and some not.

Cool and foggy here. DianeO I love your snow pictures. Rake vs shovel indeed!

Medicare does indeed rock for those of you approaching. Yep, sign up early. I did.

My hands have been hurting a lot lately. Think I will go to the dope store and get a topical creme. Used up my last batch called "Kitchen Sink".

Making Popeye pie tonight. Cooked part already.

Cecily keep enjoying the waterfalls. Yep, there are never too many.

Well, back to whatever it is I do all day. Diane S

I could never let our beagle run - she wasn't smart enough to train easily and of course her nose always ruled. Justice is a smart guy and in general doesn't like me out of his sight.

I loved the video of Justice running. Dogs just emote the purest versions of feelings, joy, friendship, sadness... a dog's soul is a special thing.

Ann, Antartica! Will you be doing any traveling in South America on your way down or back up? Just seeing the Southern Cross in the sky thrills me, what will the sky at night look like on the tip of our planet??!! Amazing.

A few things planned for the weekend, but missing DH. We aren't apart very often, and when we are, it's more common that I go and he stays, since I have more time off in the summer. He's on his way to Boston to visit our daughter, and will be home late Monday night. I'm going out tonight to meet up some people from high school, a few who I haven't seen since my early 20s. At this point in my life, if I had wanted to keep in touch with them closely, I probably would have, and them with me. But I suppose it could be fun. At any rate, I agreed to go, so I will. Sunday it's college roomie lunch, and that is something I very much look forward to.

I feel good about how this week has gone with eating. More in line with my summer eating of delicious, nurturing, whole foods. I will try to string together another week of the same.

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start!!

Yes, I'm flying into Santiago a week earlier and will split my time between the city and the Andes foothills. There's a little civil unrest "excitement" in Santiago right now, but I'm keeping a close eye on it and have registered with the US State Department and am following their security bulletins closely. If worse comes to worse, I'll hole up at my hotel, suntan, do spa-days, and day-drink before flying down to Ushaia and boarding the expedition ship. :)

By the looks of things, everyone seems to be having a generally good day- I'll jump on that bandwagon! No excitement here. Cold and sunny with no wind to speak of. Have been out walking and enjoying the Kurt-bear.

I am holding out on the urge to get one of Shirls pie makers. There are just way too many ways to make up yummy stuff, and all involve encasement in pie crust. No way could I resist. The feast would never end. I don't keep alcohol in the house for a good reason; A pie maker in the house? No doubt same result. (Sighs and shakes her head mournfully)

Another beautiful, sunny and cold day for walking. With winter closing on us fast, I want to adjust my attitude on just what constitutes weather that would cancel walking. Won't walk if it isn't sunny, warm, windless, and dry just does not fit the reality of the season. As Meatloaf says, "two out of three ain't bad", and I need to suit up, shut up, and get out and walk. Good for you, Diane on the new warm jacket.

The tea kettle is calling. Smiles all around in hopes of joy and wellness for all.
