Well, dadgummit re last night's sleep, or lack thereof!

Heading back to yoga class this morning and looking forward to it this time. Yesterday morning I was pretty stiff and sore, but less so as the day progressed.

Yesterday was quite productive. I made phone calls about all kinds of stuff, volunteered eight vials of blood for my upcoming annual VSG review, finally got my flu shot, picked up cleaning, settled a small billing dispute, cleaned the kitchen like a bride, cooked a good lunch and a good dinner and ate both meals at the table, read one of my book club selections. I'm also firmly back in my at-home meditation and morning pages routines, and that's a very good thing.

Right now I'm doing laundry. This morning after yoga class, I have a car repair appointment and more errands. This afternoon I have a philanthropic event related to our local college, a trip to the DMV to get my new driver's license (mine expires next month), and more phone calls to organize this month's medical, social and property maintenance appointments.

Today is day-long rain, then a pretty weekend, then seriously cold weather, including SNOW on Monday and a low of 14 degrees. How the hell did THAT happen?!

Finally, how to look skinnier immediately? Wear these shoes that look like skates, but they're really wedges and add 2.5 inches of length to my chunky, short calves. You're welcome! :)

Today's theme: "Hey, I put some new shoes on, and suddenly everything is right" (There's music for every occasion!)

Wow Ann you're up early!

I'm finishing my colonoscopy prep. Yuck. Who knew not eating for a day would be so difficult for me?! I seriously thought about canceling a dozen times. I actually looked forward to drinking the drink so it would give me something to eat. But man my post-wls tummy didn't appreciate that sugary cool-aid. And I actually feel weak today. I'm such a baby, good grief!

But I'm looking forward to getting it over with, having a nice filing meal, and maybe gaining some sympathy time off! Ha!

Take it easy after the colonoscopy- I was told after first one I could do whatever--and I did, and- I regretted it. Relax and soak up sympathy is the correct prescription.

Oh they are dreadful things ! The prep is the worst ever. Hope it goes well and you will so enjoy the sandwiches and cuppa they bring you in recovery. I think they could be cardboard and still taste amazing after being so hungry

In my experience with colonoscopies here in the states, there's no cuppa and no food. Our senator from Minnesota was instrumental in passing a law that women couldn't be forced to leave the hospital by their insurance company within 24 hours of giving birth. Now they have to give you a choice. This is health care in the U.S.

Wow - its different here in AUS. They are done under light sedation and you generally are in and out within 2-3 hours. Spend time in a recovery chair with a cuppa and sandwich then allowed to go home - not driving yourself of course.

Re births - our systems average hospital stays after un-complicated births of between 48-36 hours in public systems and a little longer in private. Some mothers opt to leave after 24 hours with in home nursing visits scheduled.

US Health Care scares the daylights out of me. I was refused travel insurance for my DVT and PE history - even after appeal- so I spent my time over there uncovered for those conditions - which was a tad stressful. We hear the horror stories over here and it makes me thankful for our health systems. Those who cant afford health insurance still have the option to present at a public hospital and receive top level care. Its a basic human right in my eyes.

In home nursing visits? We had to take and pass infant CPR before we could bring home our premature baby, who used an apnea monitor. I guess they thought we were sufficiently skilled in medical interventions, because the only home visits we had were from delivery drivers bringing new sensor pads for the apnea monitor.

You are correct to be afraid. From what you're saying, and from what my Aussie sister tells me, we would do well to learn from your system. My sister was absolutely floored, that after a car accident, the insurance companies were fighting it out, and not paying the bills, and they started getting calls from a collection agency. She couldn't conceive how this could be happening.

I agree that in a modern society health care should be a basic human right, not a function of one's ability to pay for it.

Wow! When I was born (in late 1945) there were very few babies being born in the U.S. (this was just prior to the start of the post WWII baby boom). The hospital told my mom, "Stay as long as you want. We're all so excited to have a new baby around here."

So she and I stayed in the hospital TEN DAYS before going home!

I have no idea how my parents' insurance worked back in those dark ages. Maybe the hospital's offer was simply complimentary? Could've been!

Shoot! My posting disappeared before I was done!

Those shoes are cute but might look like gunboats on my size 10 feet which are attached to my short 5'3" body. I have to be careful what I put on them.

BB, good luck today. The prep is always the most difficult part.

I just realized that none of my holiday pants fit! The tops are okay but not the bottoms. Sigh...

So last night I felt like I was on a date!?! I met an old friend (male) for dinner at a really nice place and we talked and laughed about all sorts of things. Then he paid the bill. Some ladies at the bar where he was sitting when I arrived looked at me with daggers when he left them to sit with me. He is a very handsome man... I wasn't home until 10, which has been unheard of for the last few years.

DS is recuperating well and hopefully will return to his basement "apartment" soon and vacate my living room. He is hosting a drop-in birthday party for DH on Sunday so we need to get the place in shape. DS has ordered all the food, so I just have to get paper goods and drinks. And pick up DH of course which might involve some sprucing up before I bring him. It will be DH's first visit home since he moved so hopefully he will be ok. I think the distraction of the people will help and he will likely be very tired when I return him back to his place.

Have a thoughtful Thursday!
