Usually getting my head into something else helps. Except that seems to be my problem right now--I'm dealing with all the menial/tedious baby tasks that I don't even care to take care of myself! But feeding the monster carbs DEFINITELY isn't helping.

So despite the fact that I wanted captain crunch for lunch, I made myself a tuna melt. Not the healthiest, but a better direction.

I hear you BB - Im going through one right now. Seem to want to eat all the time. Moreso at night and its not healthy things either. During the day I am happy to snack on a carrot with hummus or an apple etc - then nighttime comes and I want chocolate or chips - whats with that - UGGGG

I can bring Justice to visit with DH anytime. The robotic cat is a gift from a local theater group which used it as a prop in their last play. I'm not sure DH will love it but someone where he lives probably will.

Here is the website for it which has a video

Good Morning All :)

Cup of Tea in hand and load of washing on. Weight is holding steady at 172.48 even though I deserve a big gain after what I have been eating the past week...... Must do better. Chocolate is not my friend ! Halloween tonight so I hope we get raided and I can give it all away :)

Good day yesterday, got lots done and then DH and I made our annual batch of Balsamic Beetroot Relish. 7 kgs (15.4 lbs) worth. It took a good 4 hours of chopping etc etc but we ended up with 37 medium size jars. I will label them today and pop in the preserve cupboard.

Both DH and I had our sad times whilst making the relish. He spent his childhood doing the same thing with his mum and sisters and had planned to turn (he is a talented wood turner as was his father) a huge wooden spoon for his sisters for Christmas. It makes stirring the contents in the big boiler pots so much easier. I felt sad as making relish and things like this was how I pictured spending time at the farm with my SIL. We preserved cherries last summer together. I learnt a lot from Jan. We all did. The hospital is having a memorial service next Wednesday so I will go with my mum as we will still be up at the farm. DH is trying to get approval to work from the farm that day too. Im hoping he can as I think it will help him a lot. I want to visit her grave this weekend too.

Not a lot planned for today after work. Just some laundry and unpacking my case then re-packing as we leave for the farm tommorrow night. I need to do some tidying but have enjoyed spending a week just being able to catch up on things and also some sleep. It was well overdue.

I best go start work before I loose my motivation - would you believe Im still catching up from being away a month !! Thankful that we were able to have such a special holiday filled with amazing memories but boy does it seem like a hundred years ago now

Love to all

S

Today's high was 34 degrees. The sun was shining, and no wind, so I was still able to wear my fall weight coat. Lots of people already wearing winter gloves etc. Tomorrow high 30s. After the sun goes down, into the 20s. All the little Elsas will really be ice queens. My son and husband just did a video call with me, and there is a dusting of snow in Madison Wisconsin. I guess not too surprising, as they are about 2 hours from Chicago, and apparently Chicago has snow on the ground!

I bought some treats for the party my club kids are having tomorrow. I left them in the car, and since its in the low 30s out in the garage, it's a pretty sure bet I won't be out there having "just one" or ten fun sized candy bars. They are quite safe.

Just to be sure, my work clothes are already hung up, and I'm wearing my jammies. I had Irish oatmeal for supper, and besides loading the dishwasher, I have no plans to do anything. It's quiet here, just me and the cat, but it's not all bad.

Greetings Dear Ones

No weight today nor for quite a few days. The scale requires power so thats my excuse even though power did not go out last night as originally scheduled. All these power issues have everyone stressed and messed up. Texting about what stores have milk and do the traffic lights work. I know I sound like a major whiner but it really has been a mess. And whats worse is the people south who did get burned out where they did not cut the power.

So Halloween is tomorrow and I have a few people over for soup. Its amazing what I have had to go through to get fresh ingredients. Then I left the fridge door cracked last night and had to toss stuff and start over. Costco soup it is.

Liz I can't wait to hear how DH likes the "cat". I bet he loves it since he loves animals. Hope the new doctor goes well.

Shirley how is your knee doing? Hope its healing. Ditto Dave.

Cecily safe travels and have a good trip. One of my best friends went there 25 years ago and met a guy and married him. They are still together and he is a sweetie. She was hiking and he was a teacher escorting students on a camping trip so she joined up with them. They lived in Christ Church for years. Now in Wyoming.

Peps your uncle was quite a guy. I remember studying that New York Times case in law school. What a joy to have known such a person.

Well we have about 30 pounds of Halloween candy. Some of it is crap I hate like "Dots". But there is also chocolate.

DD oatmeal while wearing pajamas is the ultimate in comfort. Stay warm all of you in cold climates. Cheers all. Diane S
