Oh my gosh I'm so with you.

I'm definitely a weigh-every-dayer but got away from that this weekend, now I'm about 5lbs. up from where I was on Thursday or Friday and it's sent me into total crazy town. It doesn't help that the holidays are upon us. I don't want to gain then. But I also don't want my knee-jerk reaction to be to deprive myself, feel like I'm "dieting" and actually gain weight in the meantime in protest all whilst hating everything about what I'm eating (or what I perceive to be not eating, even though my "dieting" has actually thrown me into "overeating"). Does that make any sense?

The surgery helped but since I've been pregnant the last 2 falls/winters and before that I was working out, I feel at the extremely tight end of my clothes. But I also don't want to buy clothes that fit "now."

I don't know what to do. I guess I need to get back to A) tracking my calories/AWARENESS and B) wearing my fitbit. I'm amazed at how much I selectively choose to ignore when I'm not tracking.

I was really really happy 10lbs. away from here but that's when I was working out so I might've been leaner than 10lbs. would look now if I neglect to work out.

Working out. There's an idea. But I just don't know how I'm going to fit that in.

I'm about 8lbs. into the "overweight" category as of today. And while I totally don't like relying on numbers too much, I can tell you that the 150s are my jam, 160s are getting heavier, 170s are not cool for me.

I'm with you on awareness! I can ostrich with the best of them when I'm not doing what I know I'm supposed to be doing. As if ignoring it somehow makes it not real.

Well done doll - and glad you feel you are in a safe supported place to be able to share x We are all here for you and fully understand

I truely understand the frustration. I am a pear shape so anything that will fit over my hips gapes at my waist if not elastic waisted. It can be a huge challenge to find clothes that will sit right

You will be doing a lot of hiking whilst away and that will help to counter your foods. You will also find that both NZ and AUS offer a lot of low calorie options. We dont tend to list calorie counts on every item at restuarants like over in the States but its not too hard to navigate around. Aim to try but also allow yourself treats as you want too - I found that worked for me and I actually came home weighing a little less that when I left - which was a huge shock.

Thank you, Shirl! I hope the same happens for me. But they put out snacks every afternoon and there will be peanut m&ms. Do they think I'm made of steel?! Ha!

An update on shopping. I went to Talbots, JJill and Nordstroms. When I went to Talbots I went into the "woman's" area. A very nice saleswoman made my day when she said, "this is the woman's area, the misses sizes are in that part of the store." I explained my predicament - big across my arms and shoulders, smaller on the bottom. She said "I still think you'll be an XL in misses, but if it doesn't work I can bring you woman's sizes." So feeling confident that I wasn't going to be shooed out of the misses area I picked out a few things to try. One XL shirt was too tight in the arms and bust, so she brought me an X and a 1X from the plus area. The X was smaller than the XL and the 1X fit exactly the same as the XL. 2X was way too big. It made me see that it's silly to get hung up on what the label says. So I passed on it. But another blouse, a dress, and a sweater all in XL fit great.

I want to like JJill, but nothing there ever fits right. All the XLs were too big in some areas while being too small in the arms (more my weird anatomy than their clothes). And I got a blouse at Nordstrom from the regular department.

Moral of the story, sizes are arbitrary. I will still have fun on my trip no matter what my labels say. And I need to and will keep working on my weight.

Just cut the labels off - said she - spoken like a true professional !!! And yes I have done this before

Main thing is you enjoy your trip and make special memories with your friends x

I am also 30, actually 35 pounds away from my range. I don't want to stay here, but I am still waaaaay better off than where I was at 8 years ago before my surgery. Buy yourself some nice things, and think about how easily they will sell at the consignment shop when you undergrow them. And congratulations on losing over 6 pounds the last few weeks. That's awesome!

I agree with being far better off where we are than where we were even if it's not where we want to be!

My stats are likely close to yours but I'm afraid to weigh (ostriching). My gain is everywhere but bugs me mostly in my hips, back, and thighs. My butt, arms and breasts actually benefitted somewhat. Thank goodness for VSG or I probably would have doubled that gain. It definitely helps keep the food volume down compared to preop. I also really don't want to have to buy a lot of new clothes. I have a lot of clothes I love but can't wear right now.
