Eating is not good. Made a special trip into town just for junk food. Pretty much a recliner slug all day long yesterday. I am still in bed now. My DW asked if I was going to get up today. I am letting this knee rule me. We have rain. Wish I could share with the west coast. It has been a constant light rain for 2 days.
Peps - the sugar thing makes so much sense. Have not weighed in 3 days or so. I have been seeing the California fires on the news. Stay safe. Hope the air quality does not get bad again. Great puppy news. Sorry about the sudden loss of your uncle.
Cecily- I have been looking at solar panels lately to be totally off grid. It is fun to look. I will not buy them as our power is pretty cheap. And they provide great service. But California has lots of sun hours per day.
DD- exhaustion from working in a field you love really is a blessing. I was a workaholic a few years back. I sure do miss it.
Miss150- sorry you have been fighting with bugs. Maybe it ran it s course.
DianneO- hoping the procedure goes well. Reflux is nothing to play around with. RNY is a common fix. Before WLS I could count on one hand how many times I had reflux in any given 5 year period. Now it is regular but controllable.
DianeS- Glad you are making it to the gym. Maybe the trainer has found more options.
Liz- do you have to do much to close your outside shower? I used to keep an outside hot tub all winter. It was a lot of work. I would get in it 4-5 times a day to really heat up my back. I never really had to be concerned about freezing.
ShirlAus- Thinking of you and your family.

My eating is so-so. We went out to dinner unexpectedly last night because DS took a vacation day to see his doctor, so I had some bites of things I didn't need and wine...
DS has a double hernia repair scheduled for November 4 (same day surgery). I'm not looking forward to it because he is always especially nasty and grumbly when he comes out of anesthesia.
All the winterizing is done! I just finished stowing the last of the furniture. Winterizing the outdoor shower is pretty simple - just shut the water valves inside and open the shower valve outside. We have had the pipes break 2-3 times, but I think perhaps the outside drains weren't fully open (DH or DS did it those times). We will see if I did it right when I turn it on next year!
I may bop over to DH's place this afternoon when the Montessori kids go trick or treating there. DH should enjoy that. Tomorrow we are getting the rain so I plan to have a day of rest after my two days of working around here.
Have a super Saturday!
ETA: I just booked my second trip to Florida from mid-January to mid-February. I hope I don't have to deal with snowstorms when I travel.

Oh, Dave, chronic pain is such a sorry space to be in. Surly seeking the junk food is an attempt to somehow self medicate- sooth. So sorry the knee is kicking your ass. What is your health care team saying about this? When chronic pain starts affecting your mental wellbeing- well, not good. Take care, friend.
Finished picking out the walnuts- in the freezer waiting Christmas- It's one of two holidays that DH seeks out sweets, and chocolate walnut fudge is a given. Also roasted and portioned a deer neck for the cats this winter when it gets especially cold. On those frigid mornings we let them in and feed them an extra dose of hot protein. Laundry going, and, that's about it for Saturday excitement. Chilly and a bit damp- may take a walk later.
Salmon on the main menu for the day- if I stay motivated enough to prepare it- otherwise there's always the can opener and Chicken of the Sea!

Pre op I was augmenting with alcohol. The extra pain meds from the orthopedic was kinda here is a script for knee replacement. He usually writes for hydocodone but I am allergic. I got more pills than his normal and a drug that gets bad press, oxycodone. PT says all people are different. She says I will heal and be ready for another knee. I laugh and say still to early.

Eating is so good for me today, since I slept late, and am only on my second cup of chai latte.Haha! Maybe I should just stay here under the covers all day, with mugs of tea, and a good book.
I will however, be heading outside with my son soon to bag up the leaf piles my husband raked yesterday. Definitely worse chores to do than enjoy the scent of fall leaves on a sunny day.
Boz Scaggs was phenomenal. I enjoy the billboard 40s songs from the 70s like Lowdown and Lido etc but I really love his own blues songs and his covers of blues. He just released a blues album last year, so this concert tilted towards some real scorchers. In the 70s, he recorded a very bluesy number, Loan Me a Dime. I think 4 decades later, he sings it more soulful, more gritty than he did when he was young.
I am listening to Boz Scaggs now via Alexa - you reminded me that I liked his music. I feel like I should be in a small jazz club though.

I had a nice walk last night with my friend and dinner at a poke place. Yum. Today was brunch knitting with friends I don't get to see often. So much fun! One of them wants to set me up with her physical therapist, saying he's perfect for me except that he's several inches shorter. I'm a bit gun shy after the last short guy I dated, but his jerkiness had nothing to do with his stature. He was just a jerk. Then again, this guy could have a problem with tall women too!
Today is still hot. I'm inside with the air on re-waterproofing my rain jacket and laying out things to take. And binge watching a vampire/witch show. I think I may take a trip to Target to peruse their amazing travel size toiletry collection. Exciting Saturday!
Good Morning All - Hoping in as Im finally home. Got back from our Grandsons 2nd birthday party late last night. What a day - we had sunshine, high winds and thunderstorms - it was held in a park overlooking a reservoir. Thankfully DH and DSS got a rotunda and then DH raced out and bought tarps as a wind break. The food I made was well received and everyone had a wonderful time. Most of all our grandson.
Both DH and I have succumbed to bugs - not surprising given how much we have pushed ourselves the past 3 weeks. We are physically and mentally totally exhausted. He is worse than me and currently still in bed. I have a cough and slight sore throat - hoping to shake it with some decent rest. Of which has been sadly lacking. Today I am declaring as a complete BLOB day. No cooking and just rest. We have to move some steel from neighbours to our place but that should only take an hour or so. My knee has been giving me so much pain that the strong meds havent touched it. Its still swollen to over twice the size and I think will thank me for a slower day. I see a nanna nap in my future afternoon plans and couch time with netflix. My body wont know what hit it !
I hope to go back and catch up on what has been happening in everyones lives as I have truely missed you all a lot. From tommorrow I will be able to post daily again. Love to you all x
