Woke at 1am with knee pain. Took some meds and waited for them to kick in. Waited an hour and took a a different kind. Waited another hour and added Tylenol and an ibuprofen. Pain would not let up so I got up from my heated bed. Got in my recliner. Took all my morning meds and went to sleep for about an hour.

The orthopedic doctor s pain meds ran out a long time ago and I have been using up my stash supply. Good thing is I think the pain or the pain meds take away most of my appetite. I am down 3 more. I tried on some clothes that I had put up and I am not even close to being into them. Odd that regain happened with me kicking and screaming and without much effort I am loosing for now.

Adalyn is feeling better. They finally did some bloodwork, a chest X-ray and some nasal cultures. Everything was clear. They gave her anti biotics and she recovers. Her mom, aunt and uncle were sick kids too. Maybe something genetic. Maybe she will grow out of it soon. She is forming attachment to one of her toys. She wanted to take her kitty to daycare but had to leave it in the car. She was so upset. I do not think they have seen her that upset at school. DD called back to see if she calmed down. She had. When she is well she makes us laugh. She dances to almost any type of music. She plays learning games on DW s ipad. When she gets to a certain part she wants me to watch. She get arms pointed in the air ready to dance. Bop bop. She will say. Then I dance with her from my chair. She loves bubbles. And coloring. And going in and out of her cardboard box house. And of course riding the tractor.

I always love these stories about Adalyn. You are so lucky Dave! Except for the knee pain. Is this normal? It does seem that knee replacements are a breeze for some and extremely difficult to recover from for others. I hope things get better soon.

Pouring rain here this morning! Justice wouldn't even go out under the golf umbrella, but it is supposed to recede in an hour or so. In time for yoga thank goodness.

Eating was not great but not terrible yesterday. I stayed in the time window for eating and didn't eat huge portions but ended up going out to eat for lunch and dinner with DS. Lunch was with his birth mom. Then dinner out with DH.

DS had said he was struggling seeing his Dad in the Memory Care facility so we took him out for the first time to a restaurant that DS has frequently taken him to. It was a success. BIL never showed yesterday (like that's a surprise?) so it was good to do something with DH. We did have to shave him and change him into something more appropriate to go out, but DH doesn't mind that.

If BIL doesn't show again today and it clears, I may take DH out for a walk on the beach with Justice. I'll go with a Justice regardless. It will be too wet to start bringing in the patio furniture which is my next big project here. Once that's done, I want to remove the worn carpet on the stairs and paint the treads. Then I want to paint the two guest rooms which are the only rooms we haven't painted since we bought the house 10 years ago.

Have a winning Wednesday!

How nice to hear that your first outing since DH moved to Memory Care went well. I hope that continues.

I feel lucky taking care of Adalyn. She does keep things lively.
Pain with knee replacement I am told is the worst orthopedic surgery. I was at the top BMI to have it done. That may be part of it. I am beginning to think something is wrong.

I think of you often dealing with memory issues. Glad that taking him out to eat was therapeutic.

Oh Dave, so sorry about the pain. Sleep is so important for healing let alone discouraging movement. Sweet Adalyn sounds a true joy. Some little ones really go through hard times but then somehow magically walk out of it and never have to look back.

Liz, thank you (cough cough) for drawing attention to hall walls. I don't even want to confess how many years it's been since I've painted them. Your enthusiasm and energy for such projects amazes me.

Sunny in SEKANSAS and think I can get DH out for walkies. Sweet potatoes and squash are graded and stored in the basement. I think he said there was about 90 pounds of the potatoes. Time to bag some and sneak them into unsuspecting homes. They for the most part remain good till about September next year.

Enjoy the day!

Haha, enjoy the thought of you and your dh sneaking into people's homes like some tuber bearing Santa, leaving behind stockings stuffed with sweet potatoes. Slide down my chimney, I love sweet potatoes!

That reminds me that August 8th is National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day. Maybe Sweet Potatoes have a similar holiday??

Dave that knee pain sounds wretched. What can be done? Such suffering shouldn't be tolerated by your doctors.

My daughter was the kind of kid who got everything. She still does. On the other hand, she was a bone marrow donor. (And successfully, the teenager *****ceived her marrow has been leukemia free for over two years!). Anyhow, apparently she has a strong immune system, and here's the rub, it's too reactive. Good for bone marrow and robust stem cells, but gets all worked up all the time to defend against run of the mill viruses.

I am told by my DIL the pharmacist, that the doctor already gave me more pain meds than most doctors write for. I don't know if it is political or not. My physical therapist says I will get better. I guess I need to quit whining about it.

David, my dad's wife had rotator cuff surgery last year that is also really painful with a long healing time. She absolutely swears by these cold therapy machines that circulates ice cold water through a brace you wear on the area. Hers was a shoulder one, but they make knee ones too. Might help some with the pain? It just sounds miserable.
