Yesterday woke up at 3:45 and COULDN'T get back to sleep. So got up and made coffee with half and half. Halfway through, I realized I had fasting bloodwork scheduled at 10:15. I googled it and I had broken the required fast with both the coffee and half and half. I realized that I am not able or willing to go more than two hours from the time I get up without coffee. My old PCP, back in the civilized world, did bloodwork at 7 AM. When I called to cancel my bloodwork, I let them know that if 10 AM was their earliest slot (the Dr. does his own draws), they would have to make other arrangements for me. Waiting to hear back. I may be looking for a new PCP. DH has a total hip replacement scheduled for 12/03. Thanks for all of the IP ideas.

Peps, your frequent references inspired me to order Get Serious. I'm just getting started, as I have four other books in progress, in addition to IP cookbooks. Congrats on work out milestones and Ella's preggers symptoms ! Doggie DNA testing coming up ! BB, DD and Ann... love the snapshots into your lives through vivid FB pictures !! The pumpkin patch, wine tours and countryside of France (and the glorious hot tub) all looked amazing ! David, love your Adalyn posts too ! Those sunglasses ! Happy anniversary and the thought of more surgery to force the knee...AGH. My ortho said the ultimate range of motion possible pre-surgery could impact post surgery ROM without drastic manipulation. I'm with Shirl in her boat, holding off as long as I can. Shirl, it's a good thing you had that fabulous vacation to draw upon, as your reserves can be quickly depleted being the strong one for everyone else. We'll be strong for you ! Ceci, hope your vampiring is done !! I hope you are as pleased with your Cuisinart coffee maker as I am with my dual set. There is a 12 cup carafe drip on one side and a single k cup option on the other. I'll bet you are missing Fergs, and that he is being loved up and spoiled ! Liz, good for you with the yoga. Have fun traveling and visiting. Love hearing about the open houses ! Diane, you beat me to the gym !! Nice ! Glad to hear your brother is better !

Good morning! I'm down another 1.2 pounds today for a total of 4. So glad I skipped the movie popcorn! I'm eating a lot of vegetables, fruit, complex carbohydrates, some pistachios, chicken, eggs, and beans. The not so good things are lots of my sugar free french vanilla coffeemate and diet coke. I'm picking my battles at this point. Those things are better than ice cream, bread, and peanut M&Ms - my bingey foods of choice.

Today I am cleaning up my house. My exploded bags are still all over the place and my friend is coming to stay this weekend. I think a walk is needed too along with laundry, and a grocery trip.

You give me hope Cecily, that if I get my act together and eat the foods you describe, which are foods I actually enjoy, I'll feel better. It worked so well for me this summer.... And Diet Coke, well the only time I ever lost a significant amount of weight dieting, I drank gallons of diet pop (or soda for you non Midwesterners). So in my study of one, it didn't stop weight loss. I'm sure it's far from an ideal food, but like you say, choose your battles.

Aaaaand in yet another example of how Instagram is invading every corner of your iPad/iphone and spying on what you type (and I think what you say as it's happened with verbal conversations I was having in the room with my iphone), I just got an ad for Prymal Coffee creamer that purports to be a healthier version of sugar free coffeemate as it's sweetened with stevia. The interwebs are a creepy place.

It's unnerving. We have many examples of posting or just discussing a topic, and getting some kind of ad later. The weirdest one was: We have a chandelier from MIL s house stored in our basement. DH had his phone in his hand, using it as a flashlight while we discussed where to buy a few missing crystals. Several hours later, my DH received a pop up ad from EBay, for, you guessed it, antique chandelier crystals.

Oh my gosh, that's creepy. I had something so similar happen! My dad's wife was telling me about this back thing you lay on with plastic spikes (think bed of nails) she had ordered that supposedly has back healing properties. My iPhone was in the room. I had never heard of it and not 10 minutes later got an ad for one in my Instagram. We both turned off Siri after that.

Good morning! Yes Diane, it seems they should be able to do a blood draw a little earlier. The last time I had a fasting blood draw, I forgot and had a chai latte. We decided to go ahead with the draw. My triglycerides were very low, not sure if the half cup of fairlife milk could affect that? I hope not because the number made me so happy :)

Not much on the schedule today. I really slept in (wine tour?) and it felt incredible. My husband took today off also, so we are going to go see the movie Judy today. Tomorrow is my friend's wedding.

Next week my dh and ds are driving to Madison Wisconsin to look at apartments. He'll be about a 5 hour drive away. He can well afford to get a decent one bedroom, unlike when I got my first post college job. Are ****roaches a rite of passage he is skipping? If so, I am happy.

Shirl, thinking so much of you and your family. Like everyone else, I'll add that you will need to make some time to take care of yourself, you are deeply mourning too, and need time to cope with all those feelings.

I don't have a good book going right now. Any suggestions?

I will be interested on your take on Judy. I have seen it. The reviews are very mixed. I came away liking it more than I expected. I am a huge Garland fan (I know, too sterotypical....LOL) and have read many biographies on her life. There are inaccuracies in the script (some pretty significant ones, too), but I am pleased that another group of people will be introduced to her work because of the film. Amazon actually sold out of her Carnegie Hall album - even after jacking up the price ridiculously because of the demand. Pretty cool, IMO.

True to stereotypes, mine being straight, white, woman who came of age in the 70s, I am a huge fan of Boz Scaggs. I don't know much about Judy Garland beyond the things most people know, as she really is a huge deal, isn't she. And of course, she was born in Grand Rapids, Mn. That being said, I found the movie very poignant, very moving. Both DH and I are curious as to what in this story is authentic, and what was dramatized. I thought I read that her daughter Lorna was unhappy with the movie, but the article didn't describe why.

The gay couple she meets is fiction, but is representative of her inclusive nature. (She also publicly danced with "colored" service men in her travels to support US troops during the 40s, 50s and 60s). She was very much an advocate of the underdogs of society and despised racism, sexism, etc... She was never fired from the Talk of the Town and finished her run there as originally contracted. The audience singing to her to get her through Over the Rainbow is pure fiction, too. However, there were some reports and newspaper articles citing patrons pelting her with food from the tables when she appeared on stage late and under the influence. She didn't marry Mickey Deans until March of 1969 (3 months before her death) which was after the Talk of the Town run finished. He was much more an enabler than her hero. He did not walk out on her and was living with her in a small flat when she OD'd. Lorna was 16/17 at the time, not 12 as it seemed the actress who played her was. Joe was 13/14, not 6 or 7.

Showtime has a documentary that is debuting tonight. Here's an article that takes umbrage that L B Mayer's role in Garland's life is not more thoroughly explored in either the documentary or the biopic. It's a good, short read with some interesting snippets of info if you are new to the Garland legend.
