It is raining and super windy out today! Justice used to refuse to go out in this type of weather completely but now he will at least go on a quick step outside under the golf umbrella. And then right back in. We are in the sunroom with the gas fireplace on and he is quite happy curled up in my lap.
Well, the garage people didn't show within their window yesterday so I called and rescheduled for Monday (after wasting 2 hours). They didn't know where their guy was and apologized as he was supposed to call if running late. Anyway BIL showed up and I went to lunch with he and SIL. But he still didn't go see his brother even though he was within two miles.
But SIL and I did go to visit DH and found him once again changing into his pajamas after the afternoon activity. I got him back into his clothes and the three of us spent quite a bit of time going through old photo albums. He got tired after a while but it seems like a good activity for visits.
DS and I had a long conversation last night. Remember I mentioned that DS was shocked that I was considering selling my home and going into a condo in a year or two? He still is somewhat singing that tune suggesting that I keep it and rent it out which of course defeats the purpose of lowering my maintenance responsibilities. I emphasized that it isn't a money issue and I will probably pay about the same for a condo in the location I want as I would be able to sell my house for. Anyway he said it had started him thinking about buying a place and whether he would want to stay on Cape Cod. He is thinking that in a year or so he might look for something less seasonally oriented than the restaurant business here and perhaps with better hours and stability to support his goal of having a family. Such as managing the food services at a large university. Interesting...
My other SIL and her daughters arrive later for a two day visit and DD is joining us tomorrow. Tonight we are having $6 burgers at DS restaurant.
Anyway I hope those of you on the west coast have electricity today. I'm going to try to stay dry. I haven't been able to get my mail from yesterday yet because it floods by the mailbox. I guess the boots will have to go on in a while.
Have a thoughtful Thursday!

Greetings All
I am grateful today that the power came back on in the middle of the night. Such a mess. Starbucks had no cream for coffee today (totally unacceptable) but I found a mom and pop coffee place that did. Grocery stores gave away or tossed lots of perishables. My favorite health food store is closed. Everyone is angry and wants answers. Today there is no wind and yesterday was not a lot. Peps you might get the outage today. Our power comes from inland but there is a power plant on the bay just south of here but somehow it was not possible to power this area from that plant. Zillions of dollars in losses and everywhere today huge delivery trucks are about. So life goes on and we are no worse for the wear. I tried to upload a picture of our camp stove but that failed.
Liz stay warm and dry. I am glad that cir****tances are not forcing you to make decisions quickly. Maybe your son could work in hospitality in an area that is less seasonal. There is certainly allways work in the industry.
DH is off to lunch with friends and I am enjoying a quiet moment.
DianeO glad your heart issues are ok. Regarding the hiatal hernia, my DH had to have one repaired 10 months after his vsg. The hernia was not apparent during vsg but dr. Cirangle said he was seeing more show up some months after vsg after weight was lost. His theory was that fat kind of held everything in place and when it went away, things could move around more. So dh had the repair and it has held for years now. Hope you can just get a repair if needed. GL
Take care all.

We got some wind today - finally. My house and school have been powered through the widespread outages. For that I am thankful.
We were to have a club meeting at the Folger Estate this weekend. Believe it or not, Folger (as in Folger's Coffee) was the first President of the California Airedale Terrier Club back in 1909. The city in which the estate is located was gifted much of the land and the stables. They have restored the stables into a mega luxury stable for the Woodside wealthy and made the land a park. I was looking forward to the meeting, but because of the power situation the meeting has been cancelled and will have to be rescheduled for some time next year. I feel sorry for the woman who put so much time and effort into planning this meeting. Really, there is no reason for all the power outages, except that PG&E doesn't want to shell out the hundreds of millions it will take to improve the state's energy infrastructure.
My weight was down a smidge but still holding at the 100+ number. Booooo! Getting ready to take the bull by the horns....
Great workout last night. I'm feeling it already this afternoon. That is a good thing. It's the right kind of sore. Talked with my trainer about weight. She is skeptical that I have even 70 pounds to lose, but she does like her men beefy. That information is good for me right now. The idea of having to re-lose 100 pounds is daunting. I know it an be done, but damn.... I'm feeling just a tad sorry/not sorry for myself and a bit shy of motivated. Gee... Ya think? Isn't that lack of motivation part of why I'm where I am in the first place? I know, only a part.
Superintendent and her cronies came today with lunch to get us to chat. I went. I had nothing to say. I said thank you for lunch and when questioned about having no input, I smiled and implied all was well. I have not the energy to be a driving force against the immoveable object that is the district. LOL!
My group of students is really quite exhausting. I can tell you already that this bunch is a bunch I will not miss. Some great ones, of course, but as a whole... Ugh..... They are tough! The talking and the energy is just amazing!
Slept in yesterday, it was surprising. It is cooling off here. 90s last week and possible 20s in the next couple of nights. I winterized the Airstream. May even put it up for sale. And work more on a 500 ft tiny house. Speaking of sales, DS and DIL sold their pharmacy yesterday. They have worked hard. No children. I think they are going to travel after the transition of the sale. It will probably take a few months. Other than her mom and us they have no real tie to being in small town AR. They may use the farm as a home base but don't plan to leave completely. We told them to have fun while they can.
DianeO, I am glad about the cardiac reports. Reflux yuck. I too have had increase in reflux. I normally take Zantac at night and I eat tums for the calcium. I don't usually get reflux. I am thinking it is the increase in narcotics. They slow the gut way down. Oh well. The orthopedic doctor is pretty stingy with the pills so I am hoping the reflux will go away.

Hello tribe! Liz I was wondering if the weather was going to be as crazy in your area as we were seeing predicted. I just read a news story saying air traffic was going to be snarled because of a nor'easter.
And California's woes, infuriating that it's man made.
Weather is a big topic here today also.Temperature forecast to drop precipitously tonight. Snow flurries forecast for the northern part of the state. I wonder if that's heading for Cecily in Michigan.
DS is looking for apartments in Wisconsin. When he accepted the job, they answered back, if the start date we gave you isn't enough time to relocate, let us know. I really like everything my son has told us about them so far. At dinner tonight, I said, well you're leaving us again. He answered, it's time Mom. And so it is ...
I'm five weeks into the school year and I still haven't got my eating groove that I established this summer. This can't go on. I don't feel good when I'm not eating good quality food. The older I get, the more impact inferior food has on my sense of well being. So why do I keep having to learn this over and over?

Good day today. I finished cleaning out my veggie garden and cleaned out the smoker (yuck). Then we had the neighbors over for raclette, which I cooked and shopped for. Like swiss fondue but you pour the cheese over the top. Yummy! My back is killing me from being on my feet and working hard all day.
I have one bag packed and lots left to pack! Flying here private, I didn't worry about how much I brought, but flying commercial home is proving to be a packing challenge as I have 4 suitcases of various sizes and just me to maneuver it all. I think I'll try to get three home and have my dad bring the others when they fly back. I think the airport cart will be my friend. I hate leaving stuff here because I never remember what I left and bring another the next year (this year was hairdryers) or I find I miss/want whatever clothes or shoes I leave behind.
Tomorrow is more packing, shopping for a gift for my friend who watched my house for me and tidying up my house so I don't leave a huge mess.
The last couple of years I shipped stuff to Florida and back home again at the end of the year. I didn't bring any bags on the plane because I had to manage DH. Perhaps you might want to ship some of it? It only took 2-3 days to arrive. Also, I took pictures of what I left in Florida (at the suggestion of friends there).
