Peps, Peps, Peps !!! Bow Wowzers !! The tribe has spoken ! Such validation of everything you strive for !!!

The carb monster has taken hold here ! Cold rain and wind led to a shrimp & grits (and mimosa ) brunch out, after a weekend of indulgent eating. I need to wrestle clean eating back into place today. DH has a podiatry appointment in the big city (two hours away) today, and I have a cardio recheck in the same city tomorrow. Neither of us can shift our appointments and none of the people we trust with the dogs are available, and taking them with us, into a hotel room, wet as rats in all of this rain isn't feasible, so we'll make the trip twice. Eight hours of sitting in a car over two days does NOT support my motivation.

Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! 166.8. Geez, it was 164.6 just a couple days ago. Bad weekend eating.

Liz-how is Paul doing. I've thought about you often.

Peps-I was also wondering about Ella.

David-glad to hear pain is managed a bit better. So sorry for Adalynn. Becca was coughing all night long. Such a sad sound.

Diane S.-I can't imagine someone being robbed of a cane. I guess my gut reaction is how can someone be so awful to do such a thing. I guess that's not the whole situation. How bad must things be for someone who would steal a cane? Ugh that's all really awful. Good for you for volunteering

Ann-at first I thought you were in Chicago, then I read France!! Woohoo!!

I completed my first week as a SAHM. It feels like an eternity. And not in an entirely bad way. I mean we've been really busy. But the lack of total structure also feels a bit like retirement. Nothing HAS to be gotten done on one day. We do have one day of Mother's DAy out and boy I can tell you that is quickly becoming my busiest day. I already have fillings and colonoscopies, etc. scheduled!

Some of you may have seen on FB that we visited a pumpkin patch on Friday. Some of my mom friends said they'd be too young to appreciate it. And maybe that's true. But we went and I'm glad we did. Things may be different through 18 month old eyes but still fun for what it is!

I still am in the stage of grief where I guess I refuse to accept reality. It's so hard not to think of grandmommy because I have so many memories. Geez, I still had things in the fridge I was taking for breakfast with her. I want to call her. And these things make me remind myself that no, I will not. We did have a birthday lunch for her yesterday. It was nice. Almost as though she were there. I can't believe I have this whole life to live without her anymore. I know I shouldn't be so sad. She lived a long, good life and we have soooooo much to be grateful for. But what can I say when you love someone, you miss them when they're gone!

I am about good from surgery. I'm still supposed to have lifting restrictions but what can I say--I have two babies, there was no way! I'll be 1 month out tomorrow. I'm still not that happy with the lipo/scar revision but c'est la vie. I'm starting to think that I never would be. Ugh fool me once. But I also don't want to spend any more emotional energy on that.

152.0

Two pounds over my (what I thought was my absolute tops- but, Nope- there is always that one more pound....). DD, I love-love your attitude- not waiting to love and delight your bodyself with nicely fitting and looking clothing. Correct attitude as usual. Whatever we see in the mirror or our mind's eye is beautiful and worthy of self love and respect! That said, Diane, totally time for new undies!

Blue Hubbard Squash! Haven't heard of that since I don't know when; a truly worthy and delicious treat. Wish they would grow in Kansas. Heck, I wish they would show up in the stores!

Back from walking with Swann, the Welsh Terrier, (does that breed EVER wear out?). Three miles- and, "let's do it again, Mom !" DS is away on business for the next ten days, so we're sitting the pup. Part of his travels will take him out to western Colorado for an interview- don't know just how I think about that

I'm so glad the Paris trip is everygoodthing you are expecting it to be, Ann. Cecily, am anticipating wonderful travel experiences for you, too.

To all---enjoy the day. There here and now is always the best place to be, wherever !

Good Morning All - woken to rain on the roof and its cold brrrrr. Good day to stay inside and work. Getting my hair cut and coloured tonight - picking up mum on the way so she can get a haircut at the same time. Have leftovers from last nights dinner so wont need to cook. I used some of the cooked chook and threw it in the pan with capsicum. mushrooms, beanshoots, onion, peas, corn & bok choy then added hoi sin sauce and some spices. It was delicious - served it in lettuce cups. DH really enjoyed it too. I cooked up the last of the rice noodles and popped into the leftovers so there is enough for tonights meal. Loving being back and able to cook again - silly how I missed it - Im sure it will soon become a chore but for now Im loving it

Work was as I expected. A ton of stuff to be done. I am refusing to stress and am just plodding along. Worked 10 hours yesterday and still had over 300 emails to address plus pages of follow ups flagged but it will happen. Likely take me a week to sort it out. Several clients rang to welcome me back - one in particular had waiting for my return till he placed orders so a portion of my day was spent doing that. Onwards and upwards

I better run but will try and check back in later. Love to you all.

Busy day today: I went to yoga for the second time (my shoulders had recovered from Friday my first time back), a support group meeting, visited DH because BIL cancelled (what else is new), and now I'm waiting for the neurologist to call for a check-in appointment about DH. This will likely be the last time as it will probably be easier to work with a PCP who deals with late-stage dementia going forward.

After that, I'll walk Justice, then DS and I are taking SIL out for her birthday (which BIL also cancelled out on after making a point of making sure he was included). We changed to a nicer but further away restaurant since BIL isn't coming.

There is a woman in DH's unit who is always yelling and calling for the nurse (constantly!). Yesterday we watched the Patriots football game and she kept calling out the down and number of yards to go (over and over again). She was correctly reading it from the TV. Today I found out that she is 100. Amazing!

The call is late - hopefully it happens soon. I tried to call there earlier to confirm but couldn't get a human on the line in 6 tries. I left a message but didn't hear back. So maybe I was wrong about it being a call and was supposed to be there in person? I don't think so but I did the best I could to determine if my appointment note was correct.

Have a mostly good Monday!

I asm home and have tried to catch up on ready posts.

BB - you will feel the loss for a long, long time. That is okay. It will ease up and then only come in waves, but you will always miss your Grandmommy. An old teacher once told me what her grandmother told her about dying: "Adelaide," she said, "When I die just think of me as being in the other room because that's where I'll be. When I'm in the other room now you can't see me, but my heart is still always with you. That's exactly how it will be when I am dead. You won't see me, but my heart and love will always be with you." Those are the words of a wise grandmother!

Diane O. - shopping fun, but lots of driving - not so much!

Ann - guess you have gone French on us for the time being! But, I ask, does Strasburg really count as France? It's so GERMAN! LOL!

Sorry about work, Shirl. Always hard to go back after play time - especially after such wonderful playtime as yours and John's!

Liz - glad you have travel plans sorted out up through mid December. I'm guessing you'll be back in Mass. for X-mas.

Leap - continue healing and I hope Adalyn is feeling better ASAP! No fun to be a sick toddler!

Ceci - when are you back in CA? Soon, right? Then how long in NZ?

DD, Diane S., Bonnie150, HI LADIES! DD - I feel for you on the conferences! Blech! Bonnie 150 - a pound or two is no big deal. Just rein it in a bit and it will come off. But I get where you're coming from - especially with having had regain before. Oh, you think Welsh don't tire! HAHAHA - try a wire fox terrier! Diane S. - Gallery, gallery, gallery! LOL - it's become your retirement career!

Well, I'm still a bit on cloud nine. Dottie accomplished what very, very few dogs ever do. She earned all her points for her championship in 3 shows in three consecutive days. The highest award a dog can receive before it becomes a champion is 5 points at one time. That's called a 5 point major. Lucky, and now Dottie, both earned their championships by winning three 5 point majors. UNHEARD OF that littermates would both have such impressive track records. They both were also Best of Winners (meaning best of all the non champion Airedales) at the national specialty 2 consecutive years. Dottie got a lot of recognition this weekend. Can't help it - I'm a proud, proud doggy daddy!

These photos were taken on Friday when I went to see Dottie on after her first big win. All she cared about was Daddy appeared out of nowhere!

I am exhausted, but have a dental appointment, so off I go! Happy to be home.

Aww, such sweet pictures of your doggo. Miss my canine companion so much when I see a picture like that.

So happy, happy day here at our house. After 4+ months of coaching, encouraging, and yes, sometimes nagging during his job search, DS got not one, but two job offers in the last couple of days. One of them was from the company that originally offered him a job in August, then rescinded it. Well, if you liked it, shoulda put a ring on it, because he got an even better from a different company. They will keep the offer open until October 11, which is awesome, because he had an interview with a company closer to home, that he is also very interested in. They told him they'll make a decision this week. Whew!! If only I could describe all the hours I've laid in the dark in the wee small hours of the morning, through elementary, middle school, high school and college, wondering what was going to become of him... he never takes the most direct route but he eventually gets there. Being a student never came naturally to him, and despite being identified as "gifted" there were so many setbacks in college. Some of them, we told him, if this isn't for you, we understand, you can take a different path. And each time he struggled to get back on track, and he graduated. And now, he actually will have a well paid, professional job in his field ~ packaging engineer. I'm giddy :) and proud of his, and frankly our, perseverance. He did it, we did it, high fives all around!!!

Posting only to say howdy. Having such a good time. I'll be posting more pix on Facebook.

I can't say my French here is very necessary, since the French want to speak English to me. But I am glad to understand so much more than I did before my classes in la Nouvelle-Orleans last winter. And I'm braver about uttering the basic phrases. :)

À bientôt!
