Living without MFP: This pre-vacation plan to eat only what I'm really hungry for is interesting. And it's working, i.e., I'm doing well with it. But it's so very odd! For the last few days I haven't used MFP to plan meals or record any food eaten. Again, I'm not anti-MFP, just trying to get into an eating mindfully groove before travel begins, since I never use MFP while on the road.
Butt Recovery: Yesterday, my chiropractor said I whacked my sacrum pretty good Saturday night. He did his magic (he's a combo physical therapist/chiropractor), and this morning I can move MUCH better with less pain. Yesterday I took only a single Advil (before bed) and will take none today. I'm quite leery of NSAIDs post-WLS.
On today's agenda are pre-trip house cleaning (so I can return home to a clean house), moving more than I did yesterday, and packing.
That's all I got. :)
Today's sound track: Edith Piaf, "Non, je ne regrette rien" (No, I do not regret anything")

Ann, your comments about MFP caused me to feel a pang of guilt. I have not been able to give up the site, as was my plan. I'm more obsessive than I thought about seeing that consecutive number climb. I have begun to weigh every other day, but I still want to get to twice a week, then once a week, as long as I remain in my range. Even though I've been successfully maintaining almost four years, I still occasionally wake up panicked that it has been a dream and I'm still morbidly obese. It's like I don't want to eliminate something that grounds me. Anyway, new favorite yard power tool / activity.... My leaf blower. Leaves are falling at an impossible rate, and they have been too thick to mow. I've become quite adept at the nuances of the slightest hand movements, and can direct those little buggers into the most wonderful pile to be efficiently raked up. Almost as satisfying as mowing !

Diane, I hope you don't feel more than a SMALL pang of guilt about not having given up MFP. Of course, you should do now what is best for you now (and what's "best" for each of us changes over time, as we well know by now). I'm such a huge fan of that tool and don't have plans to Deep Six MFP. Nor can I imagine not having the goal of weighing myself every morning, since I have a lifetime history of ostriching (and gaining) when I don't do that, so ....
BUT ... what I REALLY want to hear about is Your Leaf Blower! I was just outside plucking enormous sycamore leaves off the top of overgrown boxwood hedges with my inadequate little naked hands and thinking, "This is just ridiculous!" Which leaf blower did you buy? What are the specs? How much did it cost? Pix or it didn't happen!

Yesterday we had dinner with some friends. I got this email from one of the women this morning:
"I wanted to tell you how super you look!!! And what an inspiration you are.... keeping your fabulous looking figure and being so very fit.
As my son said to me once: "Mom, I always want to be in good shape because when someone asks me to do something (meaning a sport) I always want to be able to do it and do it well." You showed me the same spirit last night. "You go girl" as they say.
A big "High Five" to you."
I have been pretty down about how much I've gained lately, the ugly number on the scale, how tight my clothes are and what doesn't fit anymore, blah, blah, blah. Isn't it funny how different perspectives can be from outside? Here I am feeling like a cautionary tale and someone else sees me as an inspiration. Don't lose sight of the fact that no matter what we've regained or how we feel about our bodies, we're all still better off for trying to be healthier than when we started. And also it's a lovely reminder to take the time to tell people the positive thoughts you have about them as you never know how much it can improve their day and outlook.
So here's a big "High Five" to all of you too, my friends! I am inspired every day by each and every one of you.
The positive is always more encouraging than the opposite. I'm down about my gain too but we are all still in good shape and so much more active than we used to be.
