  7. I learned/relearned: Fall is absolutely the BEST season !

I was able to do lots of mowing ! I think it is so pleasurable to me because I place straight lines on my lawn ( l, -, /, \) and they STAY right where I put them for longer than anything else (dog toys, laundry, clean dishes). I get to see my yard up close and appreciate all of my hard work from every angle, as I plot and plan new projects. The exercise is a bonus ! I talked DH into trying a Tai Chi class with me this morning. We have a big benefit dinner at an Equine center tonight... our first event as a married couple !

Ceci, congrats on the excellent Fergus news ! You are a great mommy. Liz, thoughts and hugs to you as you settle Paul into a safe, caring next phase of life. Peps, how soon will you know if all of your visits paid off ? Is there less of a stud fee for the guy basically shooting blanks ? Shirl.. I am in absolute awe of the planning and organization that had to had gone into this over the top adventure ! Kudos ! Love and hugs to everyone !! Have to run !

Good morning! It is 7:45 and DH isn't up yet (though I was up at 6:30 anticipating that he would be). We are going out to dinner so it is good that he is sleeping a bit later.

BIL showed up yesterday with lots of cookie packages for DH. DH won't remember that he has them so I'm not really sure what the benefit is. BIL clearly has not been listening as he thought DH was moving tomorrow not Monday. He was very insistent that I said it was Sunday (I didn't).

Nothing on the agenda today until dinner so after I get DH cleaned up I'll probably pay bills, pack, and maybe escape for a long Justice walk.

Have a super Saturday!

Weight: 140.0
Protein: 100
Carbs: 95
Veggies/Fruits: 9
Water: 24 ounces? (I forgot to pay much attention yesterday)
Sleep: 7.0 hours (that's after 7.5 hours Thursday night, so YEA again!)
Exercise: Sunrise walk (30 minutes), gardening (1 hour)

My weight's bounced back up to 140, thanks to THAT ******G BREAD THE DENTIST'S STAFF FORCED ME TO BRING HOME! Which was actually quite delicious. And I enjoyed it very much. But as Astronaut Jack Swiggert famously said in Apollo 13, "IT IS NOT MY FAULT!"

Moving on.

This must be the season of Festive Benefits to Support Good Works. Like DianeO, tonight I'm going to a benefit; this one supports our local hospital. The dress code is "Western," so I'm wearing double denim, cowboy boots, a fancy leather western belt with my name written on the back--yes, it's 50 years old and once again fits--and too much Southwestern jewelry. It'll be an evening of dinner, drinks, dancing, drunken over-bidding on auction items, a fortune teller, a cigar bar, and me looking for reliable advice on how, how much, and whom to hire to fertilize my lawns and fields this fall so that next year I will have even thicker grass to mow.

And yes, DianeO, I also mow in all those directions (but on alternating mowings) and feel the same way about those lines that you do. Those lines are a big damn deal!

Liz, although your brother-in-law may have some good qualities, he sounds like a natural-born asshole.

After some yoga@home this morning, I'll run a few errands, then later mow along my neighbor's side of the road ... cause it'll make my place look better, too.

Doing good. Feeling good.

Youtube has numerous mowing playlists, some with unexpected tunes like these: "Mowing the Lawn Songs."

Off to tai chi. Diane I look forward to hearing about your experience with "moving meditation". I mow very little, once the lawn mower caught on fire when I was mowing and dh is still traumatized.

Good Morning All

Sipping tea at the airport. Time to say goodbye to Vegas and hello to LA. I see a quiet afternoon on my horizon.... much needed. We have booked a lovely hotel downtown so want to soak it in before we fill our final days. Tommorrow is Universal Studios then Monday is a 7 hour highlight tour ending at Santa Monica Pier- we will go collect our bags and head to the airport for our 11.45pm flight home

Havent been able to weigh but put on pants this morning & they feel loose. Past few days I have eaten more veggies & feel 1000 times better for it

Diane O - I also mow like that. Even on the tracfor with the slasher. Love the neat lines. Yes this trip utilised all of my admin management skills but has been worth every minute

Leap- Continue to heal x sending you good wishes

BB- Hoping things are starting to settle down a little and you are finding some peace knowing that your beautiful grandmommy is watching over you and your beautiful family

Thanks for the encouragement to not get involved in the roofing debacle everyone. On a different front, dh and I did decide that I will offer to drive them to their Florida home in January. We can leave on a Friday afternoon, and get there by Sunday. I could use one or two sick days, as we are allowed to use them to care for elderly parents, and fly back on a Monday or Tuesday.

So the other night I was lounging in my favorite place, my bed, drinking tea and watching the local news (sorry Peps, there is a flat screen in my bedroom). I turned to dh and said, do you have any sweets hidden in this house? I'd really like a little something. He answered no. A minute or 2 later, the doorbell rang. He sighed, probably another company asking if we want our roof inspected. I said, maybe it's a kid selling candy. Turns out it was a girl selling popcorn for Scouts of America. (Charming side note, her goal is to be one of the first girls to earn Eagle Scout). I bought some delicious salted caramel corn!

Today we went for scones and clotted cream again. Delicious! A fancy grocery store donates their expiring food to the St.Vincent DePaul thrift store next door. Since it's a write off for them, St. Vincent's can't sell it, so they put it out on a free table. So what's on the free table? Jars of CLOTTED CREAM imported from England. Not very many people were familiar with it, as they gathered around while I explained what it was and how to use it. The ladies at the store are urging us, take some, take two... So now there are jars in my fridge.

So I ask you, why does the Universe want me to gain weight? And also, I will probably buy a lottery ticket today.

Free clotted cream and free homemade dentist bread. It is NOT our fault!

Does that mean all the free food I get at school is not my fault then either? Oh, joy!!!!!

I have very little to write about weight and weight loss this week. My mind has been otherwise occupied.

Ella will have an ultra sound in 4 weeks to determine pregnancy. If she's not pregnant after this effort, I think I will call it a day with her. Even the vet said he can't imagine that Ella would not be pregnant after the heroics that went into this breeding: 3 stud dogs, good semen from two, and perfect timing as far as ovulation and fertility on Ella's side. So, if she is not preggers, then it is meant to be and I will move forward from there. Now the waiting begins.

I do not like mowing. There! I said it! It's pain in the ass. Could also be that I've never really had a great mower. I'm also obsessively anal about edging and that is aggravating because I take so much time to do that aspect of the job. Now, if I had one of those sprawling east coast lawns, I might feel differently. But out here in the arid west, my little patch of lawn is tended by the weekly yard man. It is well worth the $40 I pay him each week for his mow and blow services! It's one less thing I have to do around the house.

I have a heavy grooming weekend. 2 dogs today - a Wire Fox Terrier and an Airedale. Tomorrow is one Airedale. I was grooming this morning thinking to myself, yes, this is why I am "retiring". I so enjoy having weekends to do as I please rather than grooming other people's dogs. Doing my own and the pups I breed is one thing, but being a groomer for general terrier owners has lost its appeal.

Several hour pause to groom.....

Several of my clients are trying to romance their way back into my grooming kennel. It's cracking me up! About an hour ago I got a text from the client who had her dog groomed this morning (the Wire Fox Terrier). She wanted to come by so she could give me the gift of smoked meats with the specific request to reconsider my elimination of their dogs as clients. Gotta do a little better than half a smoked duck and some pig tongue! LOL! Another client I let go last year called today to worm her way back in... No. I am flattered, don't get me wrong. I find it funny though that the ones who are complaining the most about wanting to stay are the ones who seem to be the least appreciative and most difficult to schedule and accommodate.

Hopefully, as the dust settles on my recent changes, I will be able to concentrate more on my own effed up'd-ness around eating and do some CBT work sooner rather than later. Either that or go back on the meds... Eh... I don't think I want to do that either. ...
