I didn't like the book and couldn't fini****! Funny how you have to not only be in the mood for some books, but they also have to hit you just right... I also have to care what happens to the characters and I found them too unlikeable to care. I enjoyed the movie more, but wouldn'****ch it again. I did think her dictated letters to Manjula were great

Thanks, Cecily.

And I love her letters to Manjula, too. :)

First time this year I "overslept". Woke up too many times last night. I think the intensity of the dog energy was interrupting my sleep even though the boys were quiet. Ace didn't start shrieking in frustration until I got up at 6:58 (which is waaaay late for me on a school day!) At least I was not late for school.

I got a sub for the afternoon, so I am home with the dogs for the moment. It feels decadent to be sitting at home with the dogs. I'm not complaining one bit, though. Just feels luxurious and indulgent. Mmmmm....marvelous!

Today is Ella's first breeding. We'll be all done by Friday. Yay! Ace should be back to his more regulated self by the weekend, too. Lucky seems to be taking it all in stride. He knows is mama smells good, but it is his mama and she already gave him the what for last week, so he's been keeping a wide berth.

Had a great workout again last night. I have already met my monthly exercise goals. It is nice to be on target with almost a week left in the month. Sort of nice knowing that the rest of the exercise this week will be like icing on the cake. My strength really seems to have ramped up a notch over the past weeks. I'm liking that very much.

Food... Oh, what can I say... I know what to do, but am somehow unwilling to commit to what it takes to push past this current laissez faire attitude about my eating. Diane's posted quote about resistance telling us there is more to learn is still bouncing around in my head. I sure hope the teaching point is not lost on me!

Shirl's in Vegas! Viva, baby, Viva! I actually don't love Vegas. What I love is the concentration of things to do and places to EAT! LOL! When I smoked, I also liked that you could smoke anywhere. Now that I don't smoke and haven't for years, I hate the smell of stale smoke. Fresh smoke can still on a rare occasion smell somewhat pleasant. That stale in the curtains, in the rug, and tabacco stained wall smell just makes me feel icky! That is the casino smell and I just don't like it at all. Blech... Nothing like a former smoker, I guess. Ron, who has never smoked, has even less tolerance than I for the smell, so maybe I'm just normal. Anyway.... lots of good entertainment and lots of top rated dining experiences available in Las Vegas. If you have never been, it is certainly worth a trip. I haven't been in probably 10 years at this point.

Books.... I should read one. Haven't finished the book I started reading in August. Need to pick it back up and get it done. You ejakatid ladies do so much fine readin' it puts my lazy azz to shame. Seriously, you all do inspire me to read more. I do not like reading so much on my iPad or my old NookBook from Barnes and Noble. (Never had a proper Kindle.) I like the convenience of reading on a device, but I read better with a real, tangible book in my hand. I can also read for a longer period of time when I use a printed, low tech version. The backlit screen of a device seems to tire my eyes more quickly than a printed book. Maybe that's just me, though.

Ann, watcha going to do in France? Special plans or goals? Diane O. any "honeymoon" plans? I know it was a low key shotgun wedding, but a honeymoon is ever a bad thing!

Glad that knees are healing, colds are on the mend, and mourning is helping the healing. Happy Hump Day to all!

Good luck with Ella x Hope all goes well

I agree re the smoking. Not finding that pleasant and the fact you have to wander thru the betting areas to get anywhere. Good marketing. I am loving how much there is to see n do here. Its a town on Steroids where anything goes.

Certainly a fabulous experience. We are seeing Kriss Angel & Le Reve Circus whilst here. Did Bodies & Titanic Exhibitions yesterday before our night Helicopter ride along the strip. Whats that saying Go Hard or Go Home ?

Jeez, I had no idea you could still smoke in Vegas casinos.

No idea!

I read on a Kindle Paperwhite. My last purchase was a refurbished one and was very inexpensive. It is not backlit so reading on it is a lot like reading a paper book (the light on it lights from the sides onto the page). I get all my books from the library.

I love the canyon. In my younger days I hiked down and back up several times, spending many nights down there.

Shirl, y'all are really doing this trip right. Seriously. You came, you saw, you conquered!

Respect!

Gorgeous! The Grand Canyon is at the top of places I'd like to see.
