I get a message from the universe in my email every morning (TUT.com) . I really enjoy Mike Dooley. I want to share today's message:

When there is ease and simplicity in your life, it is because earlier you learned a lot.

When there is resistance and obstacles in your life, it is because there is even more to learn.

Great messages for us all to remember.

Today I sign the lease for DH's room. I'm going to take some measurements to make sure all his furniture fits. Because decorating helps my mood, I wrapped the table lamp in sisal because it didn't fit with the nautical theme of the quilt and pillows. It came out pretty well, but now I want to cover the brown ribbon on the shade with navy blue ribbon. Weird, but doing this stuff helps.

Last night we had a nice dinner with our neighbors and tonight we are going to a dinner with our previous support group. We had to drop that one a year ago because it was for early stage and the meetings in the evenings didn't work for DH. But we had made some good friends in the group and I will enjoy catching up even though DH won't remember them. Everyone wants a last supper with DH. We have dinner out on Thursday and Saturday as well. He will be accessible but we probably won't take him out until he is fully settled in.

We have done a walk to support the wonderful organization that we work with here on Cape Cod every fall for the last few years. This year I set up our own "team" since it is a bit of a turning point for DH. I established it last night, put it on FB, and it already is at 50% of the initial goal. Dementia touches so many people.

Have a thoughtful Tuesday.

Yesterday I climbed Sleeping Bear Dunes. They are massive rolling sand dunes along a trail that runs from Glen Lake to Lake Michigan. About 4 miles of sand. Whew! I can't imagine doing it when the sun is blazing, but a cold, windy day was perfect for it (minus the free microdermabrasion from the blowing sand).

For scale, there is a person in each picture!

Today I might do another local walk, then drive to pick up my dad and his wife. They are taking the sailboat up to the boatworks where they leave the boats for the winter.

Time ti get moving, I slept in too much today!

It's a bit late for me to be posting ... I "slept in" until 5:00 a.m. :)

Not much is happening here that you don't already know about. It is so much cooler - was 66 degrees here midday, with light rain. Need to get outside and finish the fall plantings, but I may be lazy instead. Not sure yet.

Yoga class this morning was excellent. And tough. Those two things usually go hand in hand. Finally got a couple of bad "low tire" sensors replaced. They were not cheap. But now everything works as it should, instead of making me nervous with all the "false positive" flat-tire messages.

I'm now reading another book club selection, "Where'd You Go, Bernadette." So far it is hilarious! Will have more to say about it soon. Very unusual structure to the whole thing (emails, letters, soliloquies, normal narrative, etc., which seems appropriate to the content. BTW, it's about a family planning a holiday trip to the Antarctic. Ha!

No musical selection today ... I'll pick up the slack tomorrow. :) Y'all keep having a good day.

While autumn is saying hello to so many other parts of the USA, summer is putting up a fight and hanging on for dear life here. We have severe heat advisories in place today, which makes no sense except that perhaps the powers that be consider 97 degrees more dangerous in September than 103 degrees in mid August. LOL! Seriously, the kids were kept in at lunch recess even though the temp here was only 90 degrees. Hot yes. Dangerous, not so much!

I am still a bit beat from my busy weekend and start of the week. It's not going to let up until tomorrow evening. Today I have a regular school day, a parent meeting after school, home to set puppy ears for a puppy newly acquired by a long ago client (no, I won't be grooming the puppy, just in case you were wondering), then a training session, followed by a trip to the vets for Ella's final blood draw before breeding tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.

Tomorrow I have to take the afternoon off to get Ella to the substitute vet for the breeding procedure (trans-cervical insemination, or TCI). This vet is 90-120 minutes away depending on traffic. We will spend a lot of time in the car tomorrow. At least the evening will be free. Thursday's AI breeding I will do myself and then Friday, Ella will go back to the vet for a second TCI.

Eating is okay..., sort of..., not really. Clearly, my resistance and self imposed obstacles to eating in a way that would help me reduce my body fat percentage indicate I have some learning to do! Thank you Diane for that nugget of wisdom today. Makes a lot of sense. I like it.

I want a nap or a really good amphetamine. Either one would work. OMG, I'm such an addict! LOL!

I'm sitting on my front porch on an unseasonably warm evening. The air is perfumed with the scent of fall leaves, and a raucous thunderstorm is rolling in. It's sensory theater.
