VSG Maintenance Group
9/23/19, Monday
Well, it's Monday on the east coast... Another hour and a quarter to go here on the west coast....
Ron and I had a MARVELOUS dinner with Shirl and her DH, John. We had a delicious dinner on the terrace of The Dead Fish with the Carquinez Strait and Bridge as a backdrop. We sat down as the sun had just about set and enjoyed the bay breeze, conversation, forming a stronger friendship. Honestly, meeting Shirl was like getting together with a cousin I hadn't seen in years. Shirl "feels" like family. Her energy is sincere, calming and very nurturing. As far as I am concerned, y'all should be very jealous of me! I am so delighted to have had the chance to meet another member of this group, live and in person. I'm really quite lucky. I've now met Shirl, Diane S, and Spencerella. (Still occasionally kicking myself for not getting together with Shel last year when she was in the area, but hindsight is 20/20, as is said.)
I will post a pic of Shirl and me here, but the rest I will put on our Tribe page. I didn't realize until looking at the pictures how closely hued our clothes were. We kinda, sorta matched! LOL!
My weekend was pretty busy and a lot of fun. From 2 pm on, yesterday was spent going to, enjoying and traveling home from the wedding in Bolinas, CA. Bolinas is a super teeny tiny town near Stinson Beach in Marin County. The wedding site is known as the Peace Barn. The rope swing was an added bonus. I will have you know that only 3 people - Ron, me, and my colleague's husband Jake - were impetuous enough to take a turn on the swing. I couldn't not swing on it. I don't understand why more people don't take advantage of such spontaneous opportunities. Today was up and at 'em, off to the vet hospital for Ella's blood work, then picking up lunch for the dog show team, schlepping to the dog show, having loads of fun catching up with friends, home again, and then off to dinner with Shirl and John. Our dinner was the perfect crown on a delightful weekend.

Our ceremony went off without a hitch, except for the literal one ! The justice was fabulous to work with, and loved all of the modifications we asked for (i.e. taking the word obey out of the vows, talking about leaning into the other's strengths while continuing to grow as individuals) and even said he planned to permanently incorporate some of them. DDs were very supportive and friends and family are eager to begin ongoing celebration.
Love the color matching in your choice of clothing Peps and Shirl... I really thought it was intentional !! Yes, we do envy you two and you have raised the standard for taking advantage of random opportunities to make significant connections. Up early, as neither of us could sleep ! Eager to take the time to drop in on my 90 year old mom and to include her in our joy. Love you all !

What a joyous day yesterday was for our group--with the West Coast meet-up and a New York wedding. Like a Super Moon, a Summer Solstice, and a Solar Eclipse all on the same day!
And now it's Monday, a new week, and the first day of fall.
The big deal around here is that the "good" greenhouse re-opens this morning for business (after an end-of-summer hiatus) with new fall plants. This week's big gardening project is to get them all in the ground.
Happily, it rained last night, so planting will be easier.
Yesterday's birthday dinner with my sister's family was lovely. It's so comfy to be with family who know you like no others know you. Yes, family can sometimes raise issues, but yesterday was issue-free.
This eating mindfully thing continues to be so useful. I really, really, really want this mindset to remain available to me as a tool. For me, that means doing a better job of tasting food. Yesterday at the afternoon-long birthday celebration I ate what appealed, but no more than was appetizing or that assuaged my hunger.
Only twelve more sleeps before I fly to France.
This morning's music ... "Autumn in New York" with Sarah Vaughn

A sack of roasted chestnuts from a street vendor at Christmas time in NYC still ROCKS MY WORLD! Makes me feel like I've fallen into a 1940s movie. :)
Isn't it fun to be one of those people who can be TRANSPORTED!

Good Morning All
Waking up with a big smile on my face after meeting our very special Peps last night. Feeling very blessed. He is a warm and very engaging person who is super easy to talk too. Beautiful from the inside out.It was like meeting an old friend and I am sure that will remain. We hope one day to host them in our home town. The conversation flowed and the minutes raced by. Special memories
Our last day in San Fran today so up early to head downtown. Cable cars re-open today then will do the hop on hop off bus and last of the sites we want to see. Then its home to pack & weigh the bulging suitcases as we are Vegas bound.
Diane O - super happy for you both x can feel the pure joy in your words
I will check in later. Have a fabulous Monday all

Super busy day today but I love the updates on weddings and meet and greet dinners!
I had a grand total of 3 hours of sleep last night, so have spent most of the day staying busy so I could keep the adrenaline going. I went food-shopping at 7, washed the outside of my skylights with my new 25 foot pole at 8, washed DH at 9, made an appetizer for dinner out tonight and tomorrow night (same appetizer, 2 different groups) in mid-morning, cleaned myself up, made lunch for DH, went to a Memory Cafe with DH in early afternoon, and packaged some frozen meals for myself in the future late this afternoon. Time to feed the dog and go to the neighbors for dinner. Whew! I stayed awake!
I hope you had a mostly good Monday (I know it was a tough one for BB).
