Cranky Mr. Allen seemed to have helped my crew whip themselves into better shape. We still have a ways to go, but every little bit helps. I am once again the great enforcer today. I have 24 students, 17 of whom need lessons in self control to one degree or another. Makes for a tiring day.

When I am tired and cranky, my go to comfort is crap food. Not so much soft carbs, but sugar and chocolate. My weight sky rocketed over night up to 266. Hasn't been that high in months! Not sure why, but it doesn't really matter because that is a warning sign that I need to dial it back. I felt fat and bloated yesterday, so maybe there is some water retention going on.

Good news is that I planned for today. Breakfast and lunch was prepared ahead of time. That always helps.

I read something the other day that has stuck with me, but it pissed me off in a way, too. I suppose it hit too close to a personal truth. Anyway, the saying went something like this: If nothing changes, nothing changes. Well, I get that. I do. But it still annoys me. My Veruca Salt self wants to have it all and "I want it now, Daddy!" It's true. Perhaps it's a good thing I know that. The other good thing is I have made an effort to not envy and resent the people who outwardly have what I want in the physical looks department. I'm more focused on being the best I can be and minding my own damn business rather than concerning myself with the good fortune of those men who appear to be naturally thin and fit.

Diane O, yeah on the truck. Hope you enjoy it. I had a Dodge Dakota in the same color about 25 or so years ago. I liked it very much, too. It was not practical for me and dog shows, so it got replaced with a Toyota 4 Runner. But I do have a spot in my heart for pick ups! I have had 2 over the years. I can't imagine life without some type of utility sized vehicle.

Emotions are on high alert today. Will be interesting to see how I manage the welling up of awareness today. Yesterday was managed with food. I intend to change that today.

To everything (turn-turn, turn) there is a season (turn-turn, turn). Devon, YOU are the season these kiddos will experience- pass through; you, the soil from which they will get their nourishment and enrichment. Not every student is privileged to be planted in such a rich and nurturing garden as you are. Good soil produces healthy growth, but for some, maybe most, it will take the whole season. Let them grow in their time. Next spring, oh, what a garden you will have! Carry on teacher.

Weight: 141.0
Protein: ?
Carbs: ?
Veggies/Fruits: ?
Water: 0 ounces (!)
Sleep: 7 hours
Exercise: Yoga in the park (15"), walking in the park (20")

YEA for new trucks and other vehicles and, "Hey, let's try something new, why don't we!"

My weight's up a bit, but it'll be down again soon.

The short weekend trip to The Big City was very good--I got upgraded to a suite at my favorite boutique hotel, saw a wonderful play by an avant garde theatre group, had an amazing hamburger for dinner and some delicious chocolate pot de crème, and enjoyed a sweet visit with my niece who's going to college this year in The Big City.

I also slept great at the hotel (inspiring me to upgrade all my bedding here at home--could not hurt, eh?), got in a little Monday morning exercise at the park, bought a new daypack for my upcoming hiking/biking holiday in France, had the BEST "Geek Squad" service visit EVER at Best Buy, resulting in so many things fixed and upgraded on my new iPad and my old laptop, so joy! And I had an excellent therapy session with my shrink.

On the way home, I stopped at my CPA's office and signed my 2018 income tax returns. Last night, I didn't get home until after six o'clock, so was pretty pooped. This morning I slept in a bit, but still made it to yoga class and ran errands before coming home to replicate a salad I had in The Big City yesterday (roasted and sliced chicken breast, sliced apples, pecan bits, blue cheese, and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing).

Jeez! that sounds so productive that this post could almost be mistaken for one of Shirl's! ;)

Seriously, I'm doing and feeling well, but, as always, it's wonderful to be back home. :)

Although it's not Monday, here's a Monday song by the first cool fat chick I ever knew and some of her cool skinny friends: "Monday, Monday"

Greetings Dear Ones

No weight today but I didn't pig out at the secret restaurant last night. Ordered a buffalo/beef burger with fries. Could barely eat much thanks to sleeve being on active duty. Plus I ate some almonds before I went. Had a nice time and beaucoup leftovers for tonight.

Still sniffling with this head cold. Hot packed my face last night as the sinus headache is the worst. It doesn't help that I have been trying to throw out stuff and clear my desk area in the great room - thereby releasing clouds of house dust.

BB we are all so sorry to hear that you lost your Grandmommy. Its so wonderful that she got to meet your girls and that you had such a wonderful relationship with her and many years of good memories. Glad her passing is peaceful. Such losses remind us what is important in life. Please rest up and take care of yourself. Your grandmother would want that.

Hey cool truck DianeO. I can just see you out off roading. Speaking of which, we rented a jeep wrangler back in Nebraska. I could barely climb in and out of it!

Peps, cranky is kind of an epidemic these days. Must be that full moon a couple of days ago. Solution: Hug a dog.

Liz thinking of you at this transition time. You know you are doing what is best for all. One step at a time I guess.

I went to check out the new health club yesterday. Extremely nice. Huge pool. Not sure what else but its a great big building. Can't believe I didn't notice it being built in our dinky town . Its not cheap and they don't partner with Medicare silver sneakers. We shall see.

Take care all. Diane S

Agree with DianeO. This weekend, a friend said, "Every time I worry about 'spending the money on myself,' I realize it's finally time to spend the money on myself."

New guest rolling in today. Two couples, my dad worked with one person in each for years. They're nice people and the visit is only 3 nights long. Perfect length. It's warm and pretty her today instead of the heavy fog of yesterday. So at least it shows off the house nicely!

Fergus found a raw bone (clearly cut at the butcher) somewhere in the yard and has been happily chewing on it all day. Ick, but he's thrilled and it doesn't have any meat or marrow and hasn't been cooked. Figured it was okay.

Other than getting my hair done, not much happening today. First guests are here, so off I go!

Very late checkin for me. Back after another days shopping. My goodness we have hit the shops in a big way. Had to purchase a 4th case but happy. Even with the exchange rates so bad its still a lot cheaper than home....

Tommorrow we are negotiating public transport into San Fran- have Alcatraz booked for 10 and will do cable car ride and likely Lombard Street

Weight is holding steady- not sure how but not complaining

BB- you are in my thoughts x much love to you all

Cec- give Ferg a hug for me. Missing our 3 fur babies. Enjoy your guests

Diane O- nice truck. Im still struggling with the size of them over here. The price of our petrol would make them super expensive to run. We currently pay $8.90 aud per gallon!

Ann- welcome back x glad you had a good time

Diane S- sorry to hear your cold is still hanging around. Sending healing vibes

Peps- Sorry to hear you are feeling irritated. Hope the rest of your day was better . So looking forward to meeting you on Sunday x

Hello to anyone Ive missed. Sorry! Harder to thpe & post on phone
