Yesterday was a lovely day here in the Lower Midwest. We had a lovely yoga class, and boy oh boy, am I grateful for my yoga teacher! I'm also grateful that ALL the mowing is currently up to date. And I bought a fancy new (and not so heavy) Husqvarna weed trimmer for my weed lady who's grateful about that, too. Now everything is super-neat. I washed my car and planted some beautiful big dark red and rusty gold chrysanthemums. It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

On today's menu are a sunrise walk, some morning errands, a benefit luncheon for our college library, and taking care of the final travel arrangements for my France trip.

Tomorrow I'm planning a quiet at-home spa day with some fun cooking and food-prep for next week. On Sunday I'll drive to The Big City to see a matinee by a community theatre group, have dinner with friends, visit with my niece who's attending college there, and spend the night in a favorite boutique hotel. On Monday I'll do some shopping and see my therapist, then drive home. I'm looking forward to this little outing. Life!

Question: Does anyone use a CPAP or have a partner who does? I'm considering getting a sleep study to see if/how I can improve my sleeping hygiene.

Today's musical theme by our one and only Mr. Rogers: "It's a Beautiful Day in This Neighborhood!"

Prior to WLS,, I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and used a CPap. That was 10ish years ago and it was loudish and clunky and limited my movement with hoses and tubes. I tried the mask and the nose clips, but I sleep from side to side, and kept getting tangled up. I'm guessing newer models might be vastly improved. A sleep study is a good idea, because sleep apnea can hinder your health.

DianeO ... I also bought some new loppers yesterday for $23 at my local farm supply store (Hirsch). It's great to have sharp, new blades for all those limbs that stick out and stick me. :)

Sunday will be my 1700th consecutive day logging into MFP. I'm thinking that this is one of many things in my life I'm doing both compulsively and superficially. I log food when I need to and still input my weight daily or at a minimum, when it changes. When I weigh in Monday, the first AM home, I will have gone 12 days without a scale. I know I am STILL to reactive to the scale. Right now, I'm telling myself I have gained 8-10 pounds. I feel sluggish and frumpy. (Glamping is STILL camping !) I am fighting against the old "here comes the weight gain that was bound to happen eventually" tapes. My ability to judge how clothes fit, how firm I feel during activity, how much energy I have, my serenity level are all obscured by the damned scale. I'll get my 1700 days Sunday, and then I'm only weighing in and recording on MFP 2x a week, unless I've been above or below my target range for three or more days. I need some mowing time, and yes, some of Ann's new toys.

I really appreciate posts like this ... lets me know I am not the ONLY one who ruminates like this and reduces its power over me. Thank you!

A note on US cold meds... the better stuff can be bought from the pharmacist at the pharmacy counter where you pick up prescriptions. If you buy the stuff on the open shelves, it's not the strong kind and doesn't help much. The stronger stuff with pseudoephedrine they want to see your ID to keep illegal meth makers from buying it.

Shirl, Yosemite truly is one of the universe's most beautiful places! I lived in California for 20 years and went to Yosemite EVERY weekend I could get away. It is one of my six most favorite places in the world!

You're two lucky people and so smart to have made the effort to see both the Valley and the High Country. Respect!

Your pictures are absolutely beautiful! I'm sorry your cold is really kicking you and hope you can get some relief. As Cecily indicates, the stuff available by asking the pharmacist is much more effective than that on the shelves.
