Water: 24 ounces
Sleep: 9 hours

I was exhausted yesterday. Dozed through most of it and canceled my appearance at the evening ****tail party. So glad I did. Last night I slept 9 hours without any sleep aids at all. And slept hard--with lots of dreaming. Shows how much REM sleep I've been missing lately.
Yesterday I also experienced the "HALT" part of addiction behavior in that the TIRED part of me motivated some comfort eating and even a little binge eating (compared to recent weeks). Fortunately, there's not much here to overeat on, so I managed to keep the day's calories just under 1700. It's interesting that during that couple of hours when I was overeating (late in the day) I still wanted to eat foods that rewarded my palate and didn't just fill my stomach, so there's a little bit more validation for the value of eating clean and well.
Anyway, as always, New Beginnings. :)
Today is yoga class, then errands and a trip to the plant nursery for chrysanthemums, a few shrubs, and bulbs to plant this afternoon.
BTW, I'm reading a lot about Chile lately, in preparation for the six days I'll spend in Santiago and in the Andes foothills prior to launching off to Antarctica. Such an interesting and beautiful place! I'm looking forward to that part of the trip as much as the snowy, icy place. :)
DianeO, thanks again for creating the secret FB group for us to fall back on if/when OH falters.
No musical theme today ... perhaps later. :) Have a good one, y'all.

Good morning! It rained cats and dogs here yesterday and as a result I was full of sloth. But today is just cloudy so I will drag my bones out and go hike somewhere. More rain tomorrow. Normally September is nicer here!
What is the same as prior years are the fruit flies. Gah. They're everywhere and you can't leave anything out or put any fruit/veggie scraps in the trash. I suppose there have to be some downsides to paradise or everyone would want to move here.
I'm still enjoying my smoothies for breakfast. I froze individual chunks of banana, peach, and avocado on a cookie sheet then divided into bags with some blueberries and spinach. It works out to half a medium banana, half a peach, a quarter of an avocado, about 20 blueberries and a small handful of baby spinach. Blend with unsweetened almond milk and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Tasty.
It's also time to start shutting down the veggie garden. It was loads of fun and provided a ton of food! But the end is a little sad as plants begin to give up the ghost.
Hope BB, David, and Peps heal fast, Shirley continues to have a great time on vacation, Liz finds strength in the coming weeks of change, Bonnie doesn't meet the snake that goes with that skin, DD continues to enjoy her students, Ann keeps getting good sleep, DianeO finds her Vancouver eating/exercise mojo again, and DianeS finds a place to swim at home!
The latter reminds me of a funny story from my knitting group (which really is just a laughing and sharing group as most of us never knit there). One of the women recently retired from her law practice and is finding new hobbies. She was relaying how she was spending her time and mentioned "senior splash" in passing. Everyone there (all mothers except me) thought it was a hip new term for bladder leakage! No, turns out it is her water aerobics class for women over 50...
I'm feeling a bit down today. I think the explant was the right move. But I'm feeling a fool for the lipectomy/liposuction. She only removed 500cc of fat, and from internet browsing, that's quite low. Even for the skinny minis who seek lipo. And I can assure you I had ample amounts to "donate." So now I'm feeling like I traded in a higher, newer, scar for nothing. And of course right now the swelling is pretty bad, making my stomach much thicker than my chest even given my "barrel chest."
My sister says I have body dysmorphia. Maybe she's right. But I'm feeling really angry that I continue to be the victim of this weight battle, so many years later. No matter how I try to cure it, it comes back and haunts me in one way or another. This was exactly my point about the limitations of PS. I shouldn't have done it. I can never be the person who wasn't morbidly obese. Maybe it sounds self-defeating for me to say I cannot ever look like my peers but I think it's true. I'm just so durn mad that I keep trying
Bonnie, your perspective is certainly different than everyone else's (after all, it's YOUR body and YOUR goals!), but maybe ??? you'll feel differently after the swelling goes down, the stitches are out, and recovery is over?
Mostly, I'm sorry you're having a tough day.

Sorry you are having a tough day. I get it. I REALLY get it. I went through similar after my blepharoplasty. I was convinced that the right eye did not turn out as well as the left eye. Well, in the end it turned out just fine. The right eye just didn't heal as rapidly as the left eye.
Remember, PS can't be about making your body like someone else's body. PS only helps your own body be the best body it can be.
Hugs.
Even procedures we choose are traumatic to the body. I find I feel really sad, out of sorts after any type of anesthesia, for days afterward. Be gentle with yourself, because your brain may be taking very normal concerns and amplifying them while it sheds the effects of anesthesia and trauma to your body.
Greetings Magnificent People
No weight today. Up early to take a much needed cold pill. I was out and about more than I wanted to be yesterday to get studio payroll and attend to other duties. Today I will stay home and rest up and try to get over this cold.
Ann glad you got good sleep. Your upcoming trip sounds great. And I heard an interview of the Acid Salt Fat Heat cookbook author on NPR. It was really intriguing. Maybe I will get the book. I have not been very inspired about cooking lately but maybe will get back to it.
Lordy Diamond, that snake!!! A big one.
Fruit flies suck Cecily. I found an internet remedy - make a trap of a jar with plastic wrap over the top and small holes poked in it. The jar should contain some apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap and I forget what else. They go in through the poked holes and can't get out. It does work. We have these other small flies that seem to be coming from the scented geranium plants in the front. Fly paper in use and we are going to chop those plants back since they are impossible to kill.
BB sorry you are having second thoughts on your surgery but its pretty normal and I bet you will be glad in the future. I had lipo many years ago and am glad I did. Yep you may have some body image issues (don't we all) but as you age it gets better. There is a now old book called Body Love that helped me deal with body image issues since I have always been flabby squishy.
New health club opening Monday in town. Gonna check out the pool.
Peps sorry for your dental issues but glad they are behind you. Keep smiling. And regarding Ron, I know another man who has to cath regularly due to prostate issues. He says it actually is very easy and is a relief from the constant issues faced otherwise. There is no doubt a support group somewhere.
My younger brother continues with his medical adventures. His disease affects 5 people out of one million. Very rare. He will probably start chemo therapy soon. He is pretty scared. Me too.
Time to get more coffee and remember Shel.
Anybody read Marie Kondo on getting rid of junk? I need something to help me with that.
Diane S
Not a member of the Kondo cult. But many friends are. ;)

OK, I've looked everywhere, and I can't figure it out ... where is the snake and whose snake is it?
