BB, I'm thinking good thoughts for your surgery and you. I know you'll let us know when you can how it went. xoxoxo

During some of this lying around I have been shopping FB marketplace. DW is kind of a vacuum nut. I mean enthusiast. Anyway I found a gently used Filter Queen vacuum for $80. Looks new. DD picked it up nearby. I have found some like it on eBay for $200-500 but a new one on Amazon runs $3400. I may have lost it to DW but for now it is in the shop so it can be a shop vac.
Eating is still good. Cucumbers are still on the menu. Made 2 types of pickles before surgery. They turned out well.
Happy travels.
Peace, David.

SCORE! on the vacuum cleaner. And glad your pickles are good. :) And that you're moving and grooving on that new knee.

Happy Birthday BB!
Ann, you may recall that I had a lower facelift (neck and jowls). Then I had my eyes done (upper and lower). Both made a huge difference in how I felt about myself so were well worth it for me.
This morning DH was evaluated by the nurse for his Memory Care placement. She thinks he will transition well though we both expect there may be some initial difficult adjustments mostly around the change in who does his personal care. She is going to recommend that his room be in a "neighborhood" (unit) with at least one or two younger, more physically capable individuals.
This afternoon I took DH to a Memory Cafe where we saw a one woman show depicting Abigail Adams. It was really fantastic!
Now I am meeting with the head of our Alzheimer's Support organization (she is in our driveway). Busy day around here.
Have a marvelous Monday!

When I have time tomorrow I'll report in about my neck lift consultation. I am pooped tonight and may sleep in and then rush to yoga class. Eventually, you'll hear from me, though.

The last time I rolled over and looked at the clock before falling asleep it was 12:58 am. Not good. However, I don't feel terribly tired, groggy or grumpy this morning, so perhaps I got he sleep I needed to function today. I'm hoping tonight will be an earlier night. Strangely, I didn't have anything on my mind. I just didn't seem to fall asleep. I lay there in the in between. Not awake, not asleep, just aware. It is not a state of being I appreciate for any length of time.
Breakfasts have all been prepped for the week. I'm recognizing that the greatest number of calories I consume is between 3:00 pm and bedtime. I don't particularly have a problem with this, but there is something that is concerning about this to me. I'm not sure if it's a belief that the majority of my daily calories SHOULD be consumed at an earlier hour and I'm just "shoulding" myself. It could be that after work is the time I seem to want to stray from my healthy eating and bring sugar on board for the day. My goal for today is to keep sugar out of my system until after 9:00 pm. There is very little damage I can do from 9:00 pm on.
I am feeling a bit of relief for having made the decision about grooming and following through with the letter. I've had one negative, "What about me?" response from the person I expected.
As fate would have it, one of the clients I had planned on keeping (an octogenarian with an Irish terrier living right down the street) had her daughter in law clipper the old guy, so now I'm off the hook for that one, too. I don't have a single dog to groom this week because of her cancellation. I'm feeling a bit more freed up, even though "retirement" won't be until January 1.
Friday was not a good day at our house. Ron went in for another bladder function test. He had even less function than before, so the urologist called it done. Ron's bladder is basically non functional. That means he will need medical intervention to urinate for the rest of his life. However, since a full time catheter increases risk of penile cancer, his catheter has been removed and he must now manually catheterize himself 4 times daily. Naturally, he is depressed about this. It will take him some time to adapt, but I do think he will eventually appreciate not being catheterized 24/7/365. I treated him to a pedicure to celebrate his freedom from the bag! It's been 11 months, after all! On Saturday, he also wore shorts for the first time since last October. That was a good thing.
Have the shrink this afternoon. Lots to talk about, but I'm feeling chipper.
Oh, and here's something fun- I have a hard to fit shape (even when thin). I have been pretty disappointed with how jeans fit me. I did some looking and found a site that offers custom made jeans. I'm going to order a pair and see how it goes. They are reasonably priced ($75 per pair) when you consider I am having them made for me - right down to the thread and rivet colors, but more than I have paid for jeans in a very long time (because I'm cheap when it comes to jeans!).
Apologies for the novel, but I guess I had a lot to say since I really didn't post over the weekend.
I hope the jeans fit great - that sounds like a terrific price.
So sorry Ron has to deal with that. Two of DH's uncles had to catheterize several times a day when they were older. Be watchful for UTIs.

I know about the UTI's. He is being proactive and using Chlorhexidine before (and after) each catheterization. we also got an Isopropyl Alcohol Spray wash for the catheter. I'd prefer he use a new one each time, but the urologist said one per day is standard. Apparently urine is sterile until it hits the outside world. I guess that makes sense the only non sterile part of the body is the dermis and the gastro intestinal system.
Devon, I'm so sorry to hear that Ron's kidneys are kaput. BUT ... what they can do these days is so much more/better than once was possible. Best to you both on that front.
On the jeans front, that deal sounds marvelous. And I want to know where to get them myself! I wear jeans constantly (am a 501s freak!), so the bespoke ones might be just down my alley. Thanks in advance.
