I have a new favorite book, a cookbook: Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking by Samin Nosrat. It is changing how I buy and store foods and season and prepare them. Even my salads taste so much better. It feels like my palate is waking up and like I'm learning the language of taste.
Yesterday was definitely spent in the slow lane. I didn't even exercise. Today I will, and I'll cook and mow and work on my France packing and pre-trip to-dos list.
Let's all have a satisfying Saturday! :)
Reprising cute boys, fancy clothes, and so much horn! "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire
And since it's the weekend, a musical bonus: "Saturday Night's Alright" - Rocketman version

Good morning! It is still grey and a bit windy here now that the leftovers of Dorian have gone by. I should be able to get Justice and DH out for a walk soon.
In the last couple of days DH has required a major cleanup three times (once at daycare). As he got off the bus yesterday and handed me the bag with his dirty clothes I'm pretty sure he said that it is time for him to go someplace where someone else other than me can take care of that stuff. Maybe I daydreamed that???
Today we are meeting for dinner with visiting friends who moved to California recently. That should be fun for me at least. Some people have a hard time feeling comfortable with DH the way he is now though I suspect they will be okay.
Eating yesterday was mixed - I did well with choices at lunch but had a couple of small pieces of pizza for dinner last night. I need to follow Cecily's example and get all the junky stuff out of the house.
Have a satisfying Saturday!

I bet you did not dream that! And that's a good thing.

Lounging in bed, drinking a chai tea and watching a local morning show. Today's high: 63! Thursday it was 82. The weather rollercoaster that is a bold north fall. Leaving for Tai Chi in a few minutes.
Ann, my non book reading son has recommended that cookbook. Definitely going to check it out.
Liz, I get that how comfortable people are with your husband's condition is an issue. Hope it's an enjoyable evening out.
DD, I think this cookbook is going to become this generation's "Betty Crocker's Better Gardens Cookbook." That was the standard bridal shower bookbook when I got married in the late 1960s (the first time). Reading those old recipes now is hilarious -- lots of "1 can of Campbell's mushroom soup, 1 envelope of Lipton's dried onion soup and dip mix, 1 can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk, 1 can of .... etc."

Dissing a true classic, are you? I still have that cookbook- well, in a form of sorts. Lost the front and back covers somewhere down the years and finally, removed the few tried and true recipes (how to know which ones to save, you ask. Why, I pulled the 3 or four greasy-est, splattered ones in the book).
I was given a Betty Crocker's Junior book for my birthday when I was, oh, maybe 11 or so. Long gone now save the memory of making deviled eggs with it. (Rude introduction to "Damned eggshells").
