Oh, geez, Devon ... tooth pain is wretched. I'm glad your dentist can deal with this comparatively soon.
Bonnie ... I've been thinking about you as you make your way a second time into retirement. I remember vividly what you said a year or so ago, that "retirement is the ultimate enabler," or something close to that. It's a big change this time too, I bet. Sure wish Kansas and Missouri were closer. Wait ... they are! :)
Shirl, enjoy Disneyland! I love Disneyland soooo much. Have been there many times (I lived in Los Angeles for 20 years). IMHO it's much sweeter, more magical than Disneyworld, which is too Disney-corporate and mega-overwhelming.
This morning I'm going to yoga class again (I didn't die on Tuesday), followed by lots of errands.
Yesterday my yard woman was here for three hours to help mow and weed. Wow, that lady can work! I am definitely grateful for her.
I'm getting pretty jazzed about my October trip to France. I'll fly to Frankfurt, then bus down to Strasbourg in the Alsace region of France, sightsee around there for several days, then hop on a canal barge with 19 other people for a slooow weeklong cruise (days of walking and biking through Alsatian wineries, followed by good French victuals and excellent wine). Then I head to Paris for a week of exhibitions, museums, shopping, more good food, and lots of walking. I am so very grateful for France and interesting companions!
Today's musical theme comes to you with LOVE from the incomparable Sam Cooke: "What a Wonderful World"

Your October trip sounds fabulous! I wish I could trip plan but I feel like I have to wait and see what happens with DH in his new home. I should be booking my first Florida trip but keep delaying.
We saw the room DH is likely to go into when he moves yesterday. It has a lovely view of the garden and lots of light. It seemed like a lot of the people in the "household" were older or not able to walk (there are 3 "households" with 20 rooms in each). I probably shouldn't worry as that tended to be true of most every Memory Care facility I visited. Early onset Alzheimer's just isn't as common as later onset.
DSD flies home to a calm Jacksonville today. Apparently Dorian didn't do much damage there other than create some debris thank goodness. We get Dorian's remnants tomorrow night. In the meantime we are going to leave when the housekeeper arrives for some sous vide egg bites at Starbucks, some shopping, lunch with SIL at a waterfront restaurant over the bridge, then bus drop-off.
Have a thrifty Thursday!

Good morning! I spent much of the nigh****ching for news updates of a fire very near my dad's house (that I own, long story) in CA. The neighborhood has been under voluntary evacuations since yesterday afternoon, but my hope is with daylight will come more water and fire suppressant tanker drops and hopefully less wind than yesterday, though still close to 100 degrees. It's just stuff though. Sentimental stuff, but stuff nevertheless. No homes lost so far. Firefighters are amazing, putting themselves in harm's way to protect life and property.
Today is a gorgeous one. Though I may need a nap at some point, I must get out and enjoy it as lovely days will be in short supply as we move toward fall.
I'm doing pretty well on food by not having any in my house. Anything that can keep me from secret eating is good.
Hope the fire stays away! Talked to a long time forest fire fighter from California. He said there is just so much fuel on the ground for wild fires to consume. They are changing the way of forestry management around here. DS did a controlled burn earlier this year. I was worried about wild fire last year.

We're damned if we have drought and we're damned if we get rain (undergrowth grows thick then dies and turns crispy providing kindling to the oilier scrub oaks and oak trees).
There were moments today when it flared up and crossed the containment lines that we really thought it was a good possibility that we could lose the house. But the firefighters were unbelievable and were able to stop it and hold it in check with no houses lost. Seriously amazing work to watch (technology is wonderful, we watched live feeds from news helicopters all day where we could see the house and all our family friends' houses).
Dodged a bullet today!
Good golly, Cecily! Here's hoping your luck holds and holds and holds!
