Coffee AND Shel?! What's not to love! :)

Today will be incredibly busy full of appointments, errands, packing, and bill paying.

Not a lot else to say except to report, as promised, my weight before I leave for the beach tomorrow: 141.4

And as we all know, it's not our weight that's the critical metric, but how well we are loving and how wisely we are caring for ourselves. I've not been doing good on those two metrics the last few months. But it's New Beginnings time. Again.

Today I will love myself.

Ann

P.S. Yesterday a friend gave me a cake she'd made for me. It was her way of showing love. I thanked her sincerely for her love and the cake, and on the way home I threw the cake in a dumpster. It felt incredibly weird to do that. But given all my possible options it was the right choice. I don't think I've ever done anything like that before.

Thank you for that Ann. I need really think about "how well we are loving and how wisely we are caring for ourselves". I do try to do something enjoyable that I can't otherwise do every day that I have a little free time, but I'm really not caring for myself physically at all.

Speaking if which, today SIL and I are going to poke around the shops on the old Cape Highway (6A). I can't do that with DH.

DH is currently sitting half asleep in the chair right now waiting for the bus. I usually don't get him up until 7:45, but he chose to get up and rip apart the bed about an hour earlier so he has been sitting here for an extra hour. Sigh... After they pick him up I need to take Justice for the walk I usually do earlier, then get myself cleaned up.

Have a thoughtful Thursday!

Yes, Liz, it is harder than it should be to love ourselves, but that's where love should start.

I have this epiphany over and over and over. And over.

And over.

Yesterday was busy and tiring, as the first day of the school year usually is. It was a bit extra busy because I had the new cable company arriving at 4:00 pm to set up the new system. Finally decided to cancel Directv after the CBS fiasco. I had been wanting to change anyway due to lousy customer service and the prohibitive cost. The suspension of CBS on the service was just the final straw for me. I've had Wave for phone and internet for some time, and now have a complete bundle that includes Tivo and Showtime for less than I was paying for just Directv! That?s a win in my book.

My workout last night was another really good one. I like those days I am able to push myself beyond what I think I can do. I?m getting pretty good at relying on my body to tell me what it can do and when it has reached its limit. After my lifting session I knocked out a quick 20 minute cardio session to make it a full hour of exercise. Interesting to me that I?ve gotten to the point where anything less than an hour workout seems like ?cheating?. LOL!

Weight was up a pound this morning to 264. We are experiencing a heat wave and I drank a ton of water yesterday, had salty food and workout hard, so I guess I'm just not going to make a fuss over a pound.

Ann, you are so right about self care and self love. It is probably the hardest thing we have to learn. I don?t believe it comes naturally to those of us who suffer from obesity. I have to say that I believe I am getting better and better at those things, but it takes constant work. Example: Yesterday I set my alarm to LEAVE SCHOOL. For me, that is a huge act of self care!

Self care and self love bring up the topic of eating for me. I understand that I have intense conflicting feelings about food in this area. Part of me really believes that self care in the food department means eating healthy foods that promote weight loss, sound mood, and overall body, mental and organ health. Alternatively, I believe that food can also be used to soothe, calm, reward, placate, etc? and that I should not deny myself those foodly pleasures! It is definitely a feud akin to that of the Capulets and Montagues or the Hatfields and McCoys! My challenge is settling the feud and finding a common middle ground in which both beliefs can live in harmony and not in exclusion of one another. Not so easy when all or nothing thinking has reigned for so many years.

And that is enough food for thought for my brain today.

I love your thoughts, Devon!

And good on you for setting the Leave School Now! alarm. Really smart.

Makes me want to make a list of Ways to Love Myself.

We've been flying around Dublin for two days and loving it. Beautiful graceful city with good natured, charming citizens. Today is also our son's 24th birthday. And the luck of the Irish was with him, because today he got a job offer, his first professional job offer in his degree area. He accepted, and he will move to Racine, Wisconsin 2 days after we get home. Or rather, he'll pack up a car load of things and go, he'll have to do the full move later, as there's just not enough time to get it all packed and report to work by the 26th. Luckily he already has a place to stay, since one of his college friend's has an open bedroom and lives in the area. I'll be sad to have him move out again, but sadder if he couldn't find a job in his field.

Tomorrow we're off to Killkenny and Cork. Husband is doing a great job driving on the left while our son helps navigate. I sit in the back seat and relax. It's all working for me :)

So jealous! I love Ireland. I'm hoping to go with DD next year to celebrate her MBA.

Congrats to your son, DD. That's wonderful news for a young person. :)

I also love Dublin. And all of Ireland. I was over there in April 2018 for a week after a lazy transatlantic cruise from Florida / New York / Newfoundland.

Ireland is shockingly easy to travel to, with no language barrier once you arrive, and what's not to love about Dublin! I have my favorite parts of the city (near St. Stephen's Green). I really don't know why I don't spend more time there. :)

And boy, has Dublin changed in the last fifty years! The EU has been very, very good to all of Ireland.

Erin go bragh!

P.S. Your hubby is a better man than I, for I fear I'd kill myself and a dozen others if I tried to drive on the left side of the road.

Good Morning All, TGIF ! Been over and let out SIL's chooks and ducks and have a load of laundry on the line. Been working since 7am. This afternoon will be errands - have to get some shade cloth (for frost cover for the mandarin) and buy some Steel Tree Guards so we can get the remaining 4 gum trees in the front paddock before we leave

This weekend will be very busy. I have finished the slashing. We have cows to vacinate and drench - plus our little bull calves will be marked (poor boys). Picking up timber so we can start lining the shed once we are back. Have to also collect our trailer from BIL as it will be full of rocks to pop into the erosion by the seasonal creek. I want to give the mini house a thorough clean and vacumn the shed - as it will be all closed up for around 6 weeks. Have made a couple of meals for my other SIL so that should help them a little. Also taking one of our big Angus girls over to BIL's as shes going to market on Monday - shes the nasty one - very agressive so has sealed her fate when she didnt get into calf and trys to headbutt and crush you given any opportunity. Dont want nasty tempered animals on our farm - so shes off!

Collect DH from the train station at 9.45pm tonight- just need to stay awake till then ha ha ha - I have been asleep by 9pm every night up here - must be a combo of the country air and working hard

Ann - Have a wonderful trip :) Safe travelling and look forward to hearing all about it when you are back. I hear you re caring for ourselves. Its something Im not good at all! Always seem to be doing for others and pushing myself to care for everyone. Its honestly tiring sometimes

Liz - Glad you are getting out with your SIL today. Hopefully you have a great fun filled day

Peps - You sound hectic. I see you mention heatwave - Im sooooo looking forward to being warm again in a few weeks - I was on the tractor slashing 2 afternoons ago and was so cold by the time I finished I couldnt feel my fingers.....

DD- Congratulations to your son. Thats wonderful news. I love Ireland so much. Looking forward to seeing picture when you get back

Hello to all that follow - its time for another cup of tea and the next task on my work to do list

Have a wonderful evening all x

Shirley
