Good morning! Today I MUST stay home and take care of business. Yesterday I stayed at the birthday party much longer than I intended :).
So today, normalized eating, packing, house cleaning...
And also resting. I felt a beginning of a sore throat Friday evening, and today, I can no longer deny I have a cold. Boo!

Hope the scenery is enjoyable where ever today takes you!
It's raining here, and I don't mind at all. Today I'm reading, writing and buying books online.
A few days ago I finished my book club's August selection, "City of Girls," by (cough!) Elizabeth Gilbert. I agreed to the selection before noticing who the author was. The good news is that it's a fast read. That's also the bad news. You could speed read it and not miss much. It is NOT, as they say, a fine wine. But it is (extending the metaphor) high-carb.
I'm about to start our September book, which we chose on the basis of favorable reviews by several bloggers and The Guardian. Even if you don't think you'd like to read the book, you might like The Guardian's review. You'll appreciate why I am more than a little tickled about reading it: It's a murder mystery set in a writing workshop. :)
BTW, this sentence in the review made me laugh out loud:
"The students are all competitive, worried that their tutor is underqualified, that her judgment is unreliable, that she is too old or too young, too posh or too poor, too sexy or not sexy enough, to understand them as deeply as they have paid to be understood."
And that's my contribution for today. :)
xoxoxo

Not a fan of Elizabeth Gilbert either. I will skip that book. I have not read Where'd You Go Bernadette, but meant to. Now that the movie previews are out, I'm torn. Cate Blanchette looks absolutely delicious in this role. I think I'll see the movie first, then read the book if the movie is entertaining.
Eating is back to normal today. I am queasy. Easier to not eat when you are queasy.
DD and Adalyn went to visit Bio family and brought back a fever and cough. Bio grand mother is a smoker and even though she does not smoke around them they always come back with a cough. I thought it was allergies. Adalyn is a lot cranky today. Come to think of it so is DD.
I have been listening to audio books. Found out that I really like history books. A couple have been 30 hours long. Listening to one about the civil war now. Sounds like a classroom audit.

Greetings Summer People
Well I am up to 160. Crap, I feel really fat. I know what to do but just can't seem to make myself.
Gallery duty yesterday. The Pandora radio failed so I listened to Brene Brown book, Power of Vulnerability. Very interesting and full of truth. But I feel like I have to listen again and study and take notes or I forget it. Listened more last night as the TV went out.
Yay Diamond, off to Ireland. Have a great time.
Ann glad you are feeling a little better. Glad the workshop was good and love the book quote. I thought City of Girls looked interesting but know nothing of that author. There is too much good writing out there to read fluff. Its like eating cotton candy. Not very good and rots your teeth.
WE finished up Stranger Things last night. Glad to be done with it. Must find more fun tv. Yep, we watched Schitt's Creek and its funny. We watch too much tv. Wonder if that pertains to my fat butt. Bacon for dinner didn't help. Must find something more healthy.
Who has an air fryer? One of my not fat friends was singing its praises the other night. Think I will get one as I am totally disgusted by my stove and all cooking in general.
Well off to the studio to hear the latest episode of my studio roommate's personal soap opera.
Cheers. Diane S
Diane, Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of "Eat, Pray, Love," if that rings a bell.

I retitled that book in my mind, Eat, Pray, Whine. Sorry if someone here loved it. Another book I could not tolerate was Bridges of Madison County. The idea that someone could consider abandoning their children and running away with someone they'd known for two days did not seem like a great love story. It seemed reckless, in a very dysfunctional way, not a carpe diem way.
