VSG Maintenance Group

Our dinner with friends was fun last night though it rained all day so we had to eat inside. DS made fantastic grilled salmon. DH was quiet but enjoyed it and stayed up until about 8 (late for him).
Today we are sailing mid-day, then out to an early dinner with the same group.
Speaking of sailing, hopefully the smaller sailboat departs from the backyard on Sunday and the other one within the next week. It will be a relief to have them gone finally.
Have a windy Wednesday!

Good morning! I was up far too early today to catch my flight to Baltimore. I am sitting on the plane, taxiing to the runway for takeoff. My left index and middle fingers are pulsing from nerve pain. I stopped to get a small cup of coffee after getting through security on my way to the gate. The young lady was obviously new, but friendly and sweet. She did not secure the lid on my coffee and when I picked it up the lid popped off and the scalding coffee poured all over my hand. Instead of dropping the coffee I put it down on the counter. Those extra seconds of contact with my skin really burned the heck out of those two fingers. It's been an hour and my skin still feels like it's burning. Ow! Needless to say, my thirst for coffee waned significantly after getting burned.
I wrote a post last night, but stupidly left the page before posting it and lost it. I was too tired to recreate it. A quick recap:
Monday, I spent 10 hours at school. I sorted, purged, and organized. I now really only have the niggly things to do - labeling workbooks, making sure all supplies are at the ready, and map out the first several weeks of lessons. The mapping is not so time consuming. It is the implementation of the map that is the time sucker. Yesterday was a planning day with my cohort. After the morning, though, our newest team member went off to work on her own. She has a second and third grade combination class. We understood her need to work solo to get some things taken care of that were pressing on her mind.
Food: I have not been diligent regarding the quality of my diet, but have been making sure not to over do and have kept all the Piggy It Up parties at bay. Last night we went out for a late dinner (after trying to park GOAT at Auntie Kathryn's - did not work.... BOOOOOO! Long story there, too. Disgruntled hubby!) I ordered a sandwich I like quite a bit - grilled chicken breast, jack cheese, avocado, bacon, and pesto on a sourdough roll. I did not want the roll and contented myself by eating the innards only. Quite satisfying! I should have ordered a small salad or some fruit instead of the fries, but at least I only ate a few fries.
Got up so early, I forgot to weigh. Yestrerday's weight: 263. Not where I want it at the end of the day, but not horrific enough to be upsetting.
Liz, I don't know about the sail boats, or if I did, I have forgotten. Are they boasts that you and DH own and no longer use?
Lots of good pickling advice was doled out. Bonnie150, I loved the pics of the family recipes, especially the recipe journal from the 1870s. Very cool piece of family history there! Pickles are like sauerkraut - so man versions depending on the area. My mom once told me that she knew of at least 70 different versions of sauerkraut! I grew up with my mom's regional recipe and to me all others pale in comparison! LOL! I have a feeling pickles are very much the same.
Glad I called my aunt yesterday! She had forgotten I was coming and made plans to go visit my other aunt on Thursday. So, we rearranged my visit. I will spend tonight with my aunt and uncle and then go sire shopping.
I will be back east until Saturday. Not sure what my check in will be while I'm in Maryland and Delaware.
Happy puppy daddy hunting to me.
We have a sunfish and a 17 foot ODAY daysailer which DH used to sail (prior to Alzheimer's diagnosis). They have been in the back of the yard gathering water, mold, etc. since we moved here full time in 2014 and had the addition built (with a back garage door so the boats could be pulled through). For a long time DH would fixate on them in the yard and say he was taking them out to sail (which he was incapable of and I can't sail).
Last year I thought I had people to take them but they never did. This year I refuse to have them stay another winter and want them gone. We are giving them away to people for free - they just have to get them out of the yard (both are on trailers). One is a friend and another is some old family friends. I pushed the issue and said they had to be out by mid-August or I was listing them for free on Craigslist (or whatever).

So sorry your day started with a painful burn. I got stung by some kind of supped up fire ant my first day in Mexico and it hurt like a ....well you know. It's frustrating because even though the pain is localized to a small area, it's impossible to ignore and distracts you from everything else.
I love how you described your sandwich. In the play we saw last night, the characters describe sandwichs to each other towards their goal of creating the perfect sandwich. The playwright said dreaming up the sandwiches was her favorite part of writing it.
Your plans for the day sound entertaining. Does your DH still go out on boats, or will he be at daycare today?
My DH is off today and tomorrow. Plans so far include him making us brunch, some trip related errands, maybe some beach time.
Last night we went to a play at the Guthrie theater in Minneapolis. It's name is in spell check, so it's well known. :) It was the last play in this season, we'll buy our tickets for the next season soon. The play Floyd's, debuted at the Guthrie. It was clever, thought provoking and the performances were outstanding. It was a beautiful night in Minneapolis, we had a ****tail on patio before the play. Afterwards, we, and half the audience walked a few blocks for fancy ice cream. Just a very nice evening.

DH is coming - it is a big schooner and he will enjoy the sail.

Cleaning the shop. Needing to run some boards through the planner and that will make a mess. Then I will have to clean that up. Wanted to fast again today but not doing a very good job of it. Got the tires on the work van yesterday. Shock no doctor appointments for a week. Yea.

Greetings all
No weight today but left a major download in the potty.
Liz glad you are having dinners and get to sail. And that you are getting rid of unused boats. We have so much unused stuff its ridiculous.
Not much going on here today. Just waiting for SIL to make memorial services decisions. Its already changed about 4 times due to kids schedule, unavailability of minister, church being in downtown Lincoln near the football stadium which totally rules out most fall Saturdays, and on and on. I would feel really bad for SIL, which I already do, except I think she enjoys planning this stuff and its a distraction. So it's ok. She is now planning it for the weekend of my high school reunion. Oy vey.
Yikes Peps, I hope you got some ice on that hand. Coffee kid should have gotten you some. Enjoy stud shopping.
DD sounds like a good time. Guthrie indeed.
Its overcast here today which is good as people are griping about heat.
Methinks dog Chip needs a trip to the ocean.
Diane S
Or MAYBE you need a trip to the ocean with Chip???

Missing Ann, hope you're just busy writing!
I took a walk today and didn't get to the dog bath I was planning for Ferg. Tomorrow perhaps?
I harvested a ton of green beans and gave a bunch to the neighbors. Anyone know how to freeze green beans? Do I have to blanch them first? We have a Foodsaver I can suck the air out with.
More storms coming tonight. I love a nighttime lightning storm!
Off to go make dinner. Grilled chicken and, you guessed it, green beans!
