It is hot, hot, hot! There was a foggy breeze at the ocean beaches yesterday so I'm hoping for the same today. Lunch is packed for the beach and DH's breakfast sandwich is in the toaster oven. We have to get to the beach early on weekends!

Hopefully DH does well at the beach. I did get some swim type diapers for him as it makes me nervous having him without anything these days. He wet the bed and two pairs of shorts yesterday. Sigh...

Have a satisfactory Saturday!

It was super hot here yesterday, the heat index was 115! Today a cool rain is falling, and I'll probably wear a light hoodie when I go out. Weather whiplash!

The swim diapers are probably a good idea. Cleaning up after adult incontinence is a hugely unpleasant task.

Yesterday we had friends over for dinner, which was intended to be on the deck, then a soak in the hot tub. Instead dinner inside, but eventually it cooled down a tiny bit, enough to move the fun outside.

This morning is quiet, we'll probably go to a movie, Farewell is getting good reviews. 3 more days of staycation for my husband, 30 more days for me!

Weather whiplash here too! From 90 and super humid yesterday with everyone's grass dying from lack of rain to 70 and 5.5" of rain so far today. More coming. 50 mph winds, lightning, thunder... My veggie garden paths are under water way over my ankles. Thankfully the beds are raised and not sitting in water.

Our 25 days of house guests has finally come to an end. We need some new family guidelines about how many days in a row we can have people here. It's exhausting when you recharge by being alone!

5.5 inches of rain in one day?! Jeez Louise!

And 25 days of company for an introvert?!

Cecily, you are definitely getting into heaven!

I'm in Iowa City. Whew ... long day! Hot here, too. And I'm pooped!

The very best part of the day: Shel and I had a great phone call on the way here. She sounds wonderful. Her voice is still strong. We talked about everything I could think of to ask and that she could think of to say.

She told me she plans to post here today or tomorrow and let us know about as many specifics as she knows right now and can anticipate (which may or may not come to pass, of course).

I'm telling you ... If, when my time comes, I can be as gracious and good as Shel is right now, they will simply HAVE to let me into heaven and ignore everything I've thought, said, and done up to now.

That girl is a blessing to us all.

Love to each of you.

Ann

P.S. I just ordered a thin crust pizza to be delivered, and I'm about to have a second glass of wine. :) And it's OK. :)

Thank you so much for the update on Shel. Today I was ticking off how many days since her last check in. Thinking of you always dear Shel, and following your advice to have some fun.

We saw the movie The Farewell. Beautiful reflection of what it means to be part of a family, living in two worlds when you are an immigrant, grief, and the bonds of love. I recommend it, bring tissues. I don't like to cry at movies, but I did drop a few tears; people near me were sobbing.

Dinnertime check in quickly for me - feel terrible I havent been able to post but had an insanely busy weekend

We did some gardening yesterday then headed to visit DSD and her partner. DH and I had made heaps of different pies so we filled their freezer, stewed cherries, lamb chops and 3 variety of pies. We went to her work and she cooked for us. It was a delicious lunch and really special. We then hung out with them and went back to their house for dinner - lots of laughs and beautiful memories. Got to bed at 1am after 2.5 hour drive home

Today we got up and took off after 5 hrs sleep to collect 6 new chooks. Then back to clean my mini - as it was being collected at 10am for a service. We finally finished the front garden and then moved onto trimming the side of the house. Trees and branches as high as the house - so lots of carting big branches etc. Then moved soil to new garden bed outside our window. Needed to put up posts and wire to keep the dogs out. I will plant out during the week after work and then mulch. We are back inside, showered and cooking dinner then I think it will be blob couch time

I hope you are all well x

Will read back over posts tommorrow morning

Take care all

Shirley
