Another fun morning washing sheets and DH before 7 am. He's back down in a clean bed for a bit.
Yesterday SIL and I shopped and shared a lobster roll (filling only) at an old restaurant on the water. Cool wooden, shiplap place established in 1936. It was around the corner from where SIL, DH and their family used to rent a cottage. We may bring DH back on a weekday like yesterday as it was very quiet at 11:30 and we had choice seats on the outdoor balcony.
BIL cancelled today but luckily I was able to get seats at a "Memory Cafe" event for lunch whi*****ludes a jazz singer. Tonight we are going to a dinner support meeting at the Memory Care facility where DH is on the list. No cooking - yeah! It's a good day for indoor events as it is hot and muggy with a chance of showers this afternoon.
Tomorrow I travel to my financial planner to see how we can make this move happen. I hope I'm not being overly optimistic on doing this now. I have already identified the furniture I'm going to move into the room so it will be familiar for DH.
But for today, have a winning Wednesday!

First off ... Liz, you are doing what needs to be done! Good job. :)
Next ... AnneGG has made an incredibly inspiring and informative "9 Years Today!" post in the General OH Forum. It's really worth reading.
This morning my weight (at 2:00 a.m.) was up a pound, but I'm not obsessing about it - will just keep eating nutritious food and have one treat today. :)
And finally, here's some good news on the lawn mower front. Yesterday I went into town to meet face to face with the guy who manages the farm machinery repair shop where I'm sending my two lawn mowers for the first time. My goal was to start building a relationship with him so he'll take my mower problems as seriously as those of farmers who need their hay balers and tractors repaired. I told him, "Just tell me what y'all want - donuts, muffins, beer, cigarettes, anything - just tell me what it is, and I'll bring it to you!" Of course, I was teasing/flirting, but I also wasn't completely unserious! So we started talking, whereupon I quickly realized that my mother and his grandmother were first cousins, which means he and I are fourth cousins. We're both tickled to meet a new cousin, and I hope it means he will put me and my lawn mowers on the "Special Family Hurry-Up Service Plan"! Wish me luck. :)
And my "weed lady" who's such a hard worker cleaned all my porches and windows, and they look fantastic! Today I'll be working housecleaning and putting porch furniture back in place. Everything's looking much better around here. And if at least one of my lawn mowers gets repaired while I'm in Iowa the weed lady will mow at least once.
This afternoon I have scheduled a facial and an early dinner with another friend whose spouse recently died. I'm also finishing up some required reading and writing exercises for next week's writing workshop.
Today's theme: Keep doing what needs to be done.

Isn't that cool that you made a connection with the mower repair guy. The weed lady sounds like a gem too.

Yes, isn't that all good news! BTW, I dropped off a dozen of the town's best donuts this morning at the repair shop. Two hours later, someone came out and picked up both mowers. :)
As the old folks say, you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar! :)
Heck, you could make me do almost anything for a tray of top-shelf French pastries!

Took a page out of your play book today! When I went to pick up Goat, after paying my bill I handed Barbara, the office lady, cash for "the guys who did the work to get me to the dog show on schedule". I said, "I know it's not much, but they can get a few beers after shift." I thought she was going to cry and said, "Oh, thank you! No one ever does anything for our guys." Mike, the owner looked at me with the utmost sincerity and said, "The boys will really appreciate the recognition of their work." As I left, Barbara shouted, "Please come back!" I turned and told her, "You bet I will!"
This behavior isn't out of the ordinary for me, but your mower story reminded me just how important it is to recognize mechanics, plumbers, repair folks, gardeners, etc... for the work they do. For us more white collar, hobby RVers and hobby gardeners, these people save our asses ALL THE TIME!
Your doughnuts made it all the way to Pacheco, CA today!
Oh, Peps, that's SO cool that you did that. And thank you for sharing the story.
What a good exercise it would be to list all the people who "get us to the church on time," so to speak. Just yesterday, off the top of my head, there were:
* The young man who works at Walmart who went "behind the curtain" in the back and found a block of cheese they were out of in the case up front. It took him ten minutes to hike back there, search for it and find it, and hike back. And when he returned he was wearing a huge smile.
* The lady at the day spa who rummaged through a closet and found some Q-tips I needed to apply my makeup for dinner last night. And she wasn't even the lady who had done my facial.
* The guy who picked up my lawn mowers and insisted on helping me look for the reading glasses I'd dropped while picking up downed timber. We found them!
Our sincere words of thanks (to those who help us and to their bosses), smiles, hugs, food, and even cash on the barrelhead are excellent currencies of thanks.
I'm also reminded of something DianeS said not long ago: "Accept all help offered," which is also part of the equation. :)

Liz, I'm so very glad you are following through with your plans. From my outsider's perspective it really sounds like it is time to make the move.
Ann, I will check out the main forum today. I rarely ever check anything out on OH any longer, except for our little group.
I have been counseling/supporting an acquaintance in Texas *****cently had VSG. I had forgotten some of the early on angst that comes with the surgery. His latest is that he's worried his sleeve is too big because he can drink water with ease. His surgeon had him do a barium swallow test and took "pics". He sent me the pics. His sleeve looks different from mine, but it does look small. I keep telling him to wait until you eat solid food - Then you'll realize how small it really is! Anyone else remember those days?
Had a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day yesterday! Ron and I quarreled, which set my mood for the day - depressed. Then we went clothes shopping. That was disheartening because of my current size. Honestly, even when I am at my thinnest, my body dysmorphia issues get in the way of my truly feeling good about how I look, so at this weight it can be a struggle even when in a great mood. Designers that tend to create for a younger, slimmer man (like Hilfiger and Michael Kors) no longer work for me - even in xxl. However, other manufacturers in the more relaxed categories like Island Republic and Clearwater make sizes a bit more generous and I fit into their XL sizes. So the lovely cornflower blue print Michael Kors shirt stayed at the store, sigh... But I have some nice work shirts to start the school year and I did get shorts that are flattering and comfortable for the rest of the summer and early part of the school year.
Ron and I finally "talked it out" over dinner on the patio. I felt better, but it took a lot out of me.
Trainer decided to have me do a total body workout yesterday that took over an hour. I was beat afterwards. I asked her at the end of my session if the workout was planned because of my upcoming vacation. She said, "EXACTLY!" Back, legs, glutes, tris, bis, and abs and shoulders! We hit them all!
Goat is repaired and will be ready to be picked up in a little while. They just have to replace the reverse light bulbs and hope that solves that problem of the reverse lights not coming on. If not, no big deal, we'll just deal with that later. A 15 year old rig is entitled to a few minor problems here and there.
Not sure when I will check in while on the road, but will do my level best to not go hog wild and piggy it up while glamping. Checking in from the dog show should be pretty easy, but after Sunday I'm not too sure what connectivity will be. I'm thinking spotty at best!
Bestest to all!
Greetings Fine People
156 today. No clue what I did to lose a pound but I will take it. I got into crackers at the gallery late yesterday and as a result was too full to eat dinner. Maybe that's it. Somehow afternoon cracker stuffing doesn't seem like a plan.
Liz glad you are moving forward on plans for caring for DH. Reality has a way of asserting itself. And yay to no cooking.
Well Ann, ya gotta do what it takes to get that mower fixed. Glad you found the cousin. And lucky you to have a weed lady. (on drive to Oregon there were lots of signs advertising "Weed" - not the same thing).
Another gallery afternoon. I have 3 this wee****eps me from doing anything constructive. Dh just got back from a walk. Mine will be in circles at the gallery I guess. Hoping for lots of visitors.
Got some organic sweet corn for dinner tonight plus a bit of ham. Sure is nice to not have to keep butt loads of food around anymore.
Thanks for reminder on patio furniture Liz. I need to get ours back up out of the yard and new cushions for the chairs. Dogs wrecked the old ones.
Good luck with the writing workshops Ann. Should be awesome.
More coffee then get busy. In that order. Diane S
LOL! Yeah, my weed lady doesn't offer that kind of weed service. And I probably won't ask her. ;)
Mostly because I brought home some product from Colorado. ;)

Good Morning - Popping in quickly before brekkie
Not a lot to share. Busy day at work then chores and picked up some free novels for my mum. Whole boot is full so should keep her out of mischief for a while
Going to get some more mulch to finish off the front garden tonight when I finish. And plan to finally sort the spices into the organisers I bought months and months ago. Not enough hours in the day. Might do some more cooking as out of Zuchinni Loaves - chooks only laying an egg a day so finally built up enough.
Liz - Big hugs - Hope the rest of your day gets better and you enjoy Lunch and Dinner out
Ann- Finding family :) Lovely. Hope they repair the mowers fast for you. You will be watching the blades of grass sprout and feeling frustrated no doubt.
Peps - Sorry to hear about the disagreement but glad you sorted it before sleeping on it. Look forward to seeing pics of your next adventure in Goat
Diane - Hope Gallery goes well. Must be nice to be home again
Shel - You are on my mind and in my heart. Sending you all my love n gentle hugs x
Cec, David, DD, Diane - Hello to you all and anyone else Ive missed
I best go sort some breakfast and keep working
