There is a ginger snap in there somewhere. I got a hold of some leaf lard, true blackstrap molasses, neighbors farm eggs, and using soft, Dixie Lily flour, made what is as close to true to the original tasting cookies from recipe handed down generations on DH's side of the family.
I remember my mother saying one time when baking an old family cookie, "same recipe, different cookie." The natural composition of foods does change over time.
Anyways, these were wonderful!
