Friday 7-12-19
I have a big box that the outside AC unit came in. I remembered making space ships out of boxes as a kid so I cut a door opening and some windows for a playhouse for Adalyn. She loved it. I got some video that I will try to post on another platform and do a link here. It made me laugh.
So hot yesterday. And humid. Zapped the energy right out of me.
More later, David
Ann- Colonoscopies are no fun. I waited till 54 to have my first one and they said I was so clean i would never need another one. That is my story and I am sticking to it. The YMCA pic made me laugh.
BB- The meh feeling will get better. Best I remember you felt this way after Becca. Remember hormones of birthing are messing with your mind. And you have more to keep up with now.
Bonnie- I love the quotes. Gives me something to think on. The lake setting sounds wonderful.
Cecily- I hate lines and crowds. I do like scallops and the food sounded great.
Devon- I have found that driving a trailer is difficult because I am constantly looking for pull through parking. I am pretty good at backing in the yard. Driving Large Marge will become even easier. The more you do it the better you get. Nice necklace.
DianneO- Recent good book about veteran struggle and sacrifice as the guard our republic. The dead drink first. It is an audible original. One good line was We were so young when we went over there and so very old when we returned.
DianeS- Hoping the dog show went well and that you had a good time doing it.
Liz- You are in my thoughts in the caretaker mode. Alzheimer's disease is so cruel. Glad you got some shopping therapy.
Miss150- The medicare thing is so messed up. This is one area that I believe a single pay system would benefit the people. I have worked as a nurse in Indian Health and VA healthcare systems. What I saw was much better care than the private sector.
Shel- Looking forward to your check in today. You are in my thoughts through out the day.
ShirlAus- Lots of cooking. Hope family time is great.

Still thinking about the right metrics for me at this point, but the above will do for right now.
Today's going to be all about "doing what needs to be done," which means some serious mowing, laundry, and house cleaning.
But for now ... off I go to meditate.
Sending love to you all, and hoping that you do today whatever it is you need to get done, whether that involves beaches, meditation, hugging babies and dogs, mowing or simply feeling gratitude.

P.S. David ... the "once clean, always clean" colonoscopy advice doesn't hold true in my case. I reckon I've had 7 colonoscopies since I was 40 (because of my mom's colon cancer diagnosis when she was in her forties), and this is the first time I've ever had ANY polyps at all, i.e., I've been clean every time until now. Just sayin'. ;)

- Intentions: Seek balance & relax, rejuvenate, & recalibrate !!
I have been given cart blanche for my gardening/landscaping volunteer time at the Equicenter. There are three levels of terrace outside the massive kitchen, down to the inground pool level. The budget and focus go to maintaining programs and the haying and gardening to support those programs. There is not a budget for general beautification, so that has slid since 2011 when the owners left. The masonry and wrought iron fencing is beginning to be compromised by weeds and overgrowth. I decided to start with the top level of the terrace, people could be enjoying as an extension of the kitchen. I discovered and uncovered some wonderful sculpture and drains during the two hours DC was cooking, all the while listening to horses nicker. Bliss ! THEN, the Vets and Chopped chef had set a place for me at the table... salad, fresh pea pods, sliced potatoes, and multi-color carrots from the garden, as well as apricot ginger chicken and a fruit tart. Herbs and spices as well as fruit was also garden grown, horticulture being another Vet program. I was truly veggie first for once !!! Eyes rolled back in my head !!
Liz- The street fair sounded wonderful ! Hope your outdoor shower has been resolved.. we couldn't have lived without ours on the RV or the one we had in SC.
Cecily- It would be hard to endure restaurant lines, even if scallops were at the finish line. Make sure your neighbor gets to see your bruise one more time ! Wow ! Good luck with finding deer resistant plantings.
DD- The feta cucumber salad sounds wonderful ! When my girls were little, we lived in the tidal pools at pocket beaches in Maine ! I could get them some shade, the water was warmer, and no sharks!
Ann- Positive thoughts for a good outcome from biopsy ! My last colonoscopy resulted in two pre-cancerous polyps and a repeat colonoscopy within three years.
David- Congratulations on the HUGS ! Well deserved ! Hope the 30" grass has been tamed !
Devon- Can't wait for updates from the road in Large Marge. You'll love maneuvering her v. trailer ! Sounds like the dogs will have everything and more !
Diane- Good luck on your shows ! Still eager for a deck picture !
BB- You've got this ! Your hormones will settle soon. Racing around meeting the every need of two little ones can be overwhelming !
Shirl- The pea ham soup is a favorite on a chilly night !!
Miss 150- I'm going to pick your brain about Medicare options. Thirteen months to go for me ! Congratulations on your re-retirement !! Every day can be an early morning walk !
Shel- So fabulous to hear your voice yesterday. Looking forward to your post today !! You are enveloped in love 24/7 !!

Question: How's the "Daily Eats" posting working out for others?
Comment: I'm happy to share my eating records (would probably be screen shots of My Fitness Pal records) IF others would find that helpful.
However, it's harder for me to follow and respond to comments in two daily threads.
As always, others' mileage will surely vary.
Thoughts?

Daily Eats is working well in that it is helping me be accountable for my choices. I'm not going to lie and say it influences my choices, because it does not, but it helps me be very aware of what I am putting in my pie hole! LOL! I also learned that I found myself foisting my own preconceived judgements about my eating on to you all. That was a great Ah ha... I told the shrink how I left off an item from a Daily Eats. Getting into with her helped me realize that I was projecting my own judgement on to the members here. Another layer of onion peeled away...
Yes, I think your Daily Eats would be beneficial for me. It is enlightening to see what others eat and don't eat. Also being not quite 8 years out, I find the reminders from those successfully managing weight helpful.
I like to keep my musings on the regular daily thread.
