It's Thursday already and is going to be another scorcher here. The Street Fair was great. I spent more than I should have on some great deals on Lilly Pulitzer clothes and a necklace (also a raincoat and belt @ $10 apiece). I said I wasn't going to but then...
Today I'm touring another Memory Care facility. Even though I put the deposit down, I want to see what else is there. I may put deposits into more than one place. They are always refundable. I may go to the beach for a bit between that and the plumber coming to finish fixing the outdoor shower. I love that shower but it has been out of commission since we got home from Florida. Getting a plumber this time of year (tourist season) is a huge challenge.
SILs went to tour a couple of houses yesterday afternoon for SIL who lives 1.5 hours away but wants to move here. It sounds like she is getting serious about it. She is taking sick SIL to Boston for her appointment today where they will discuss the new plan for treatment (some type of chemotherapy). She cannot be on the immunotherapy anymore due to the pneumonosis and also the genetic testing results on her tumor which indicate that some EGFR targeted chemotherapy would be better.
Have a terrific Thursday!

Good morning everybody! The celebration of life for my dad's wife's mother was really nice. There was a great turn out. After, we tried to go to our favorite Mexican place for dinner, but the wait was 45 min to an hour (it was already 7:10). So we went to the next town over. First restaurant had an hour wait (it's now 7:30). Second and third restaurants had lines out the door. So we ended up at the really nice golf resort dining room 20 more minutes away. Gorgeous view and the food is incredible, but while it's always been really expensive, now it's REALLY expensive! The cheapest entree was $40. Most were $55-65. The most expensive was $100 for a 36 oz tomahawk steak (think the steak Fred Flintstone has put on the side of his car). I thought about how even though my capacity is so much higher, it still would take me a week of eating it for lunch and dinner to make it through a 36 oz steak. I ended up with seafood fettuccine. It was in a cream sauce, but considering I could only eat a small bit of the pasta and concentrated on the seafood, it wasn't the worst I could have done. I have never had better scallops. My eyes rolled back in my head! And big shelled crab claws and giant shrimp. Yummy. But eating at 8:45 is way too late for me.
Today I might go plant shopping to replace some of what the deer ate with hopefully more deer resistant stuff. If there is such a thing.
So one funnyish? story... We had the neighbors over for drinks and were sitting outside. My dad said he thought there were mosquitoes around, but they were small harmless flies. Right after he said it, one landed on my upper arm and my neighbor sitting on the couch next to me hauled off and hit my arm so hard everyone gasped. I yelled ow! It still stung an hour later, I had a red handprint, and being on blood thinners I got a huge bruise which is so dark you can see it through a light shirt. She was mortified as she should have been. Who does that?? I don't know this woman well enough to have her try to "save me" from a non-mosquito bite by hitting me! It's been two days and my arm keeps having involuntary twitches. Not sure if it's related, but I'm suspicious. I've never been hit so hard in all my life!
Daily lessons: Make reservations during the busy summer months and don't sit too close to your neighbors.
Your patience and persistence in finding restaurant fare is commendable! Number 1) I hate lines (you will see me at Disney World or anything like it- never -because of lines) and 2) I may have tried a second restaurant if it were, say, right next door- maybe... failing that, it's time to find a deli or home again, home again, jiggity jig (surly something will be in the fridge).
What would not be in the fridge--the wonderful seafood, esp the scallops. Sounds mouthwatering.
That lady needs to learn about personal space.
I wish everyplace took reservations. A lot of places on Cape Cod don't. We try to go at 5 for those and definitely make reservations where we can.

That salad sounds good! I'm at the beach too (at the pond around the corner).

The colonoscopy is over, and I'm back home preparing to spend the day dozing and eating "quiet food." But no alcohol for 12 hours, damnit!
The surgeon found two polyps -- my first ones ever. One is small, the other is large. He'll get them biopsied and let me know what the deal is.
I've been doing colonoscopies for a long time because my mom had colon cancer at age 47 (she then lived for another 50 years). I know that lots of colonoscopies turn up polyps, so unless the biopsies reveal my polyps to be cancerous, this probably just means I'll get to enjoy even more frequent colonoscopies. Oh, joy.
And that's the news from Lake Wobegon.
P.S. Liz, I'm really glad you're taking care of business. Cecily, please slap your neighbor for me. David, sorry about the 30" grass. Devon, your organ adventure sounds so cool. DD, enjoy that summer heat (want mine?). Bonnie150, my life isn't on cruise control either, so I understand. BB, I think you're doing just great. DianeS, I hope you're having a good dog show road trip and enjoying everything you eat. DianeO, those are gorgeous pix and stories about the vet support facilities. Shirl, you always awe me.
Shel, are you still on the couch?
