Hey all! Not much to report today, but wanted to check in and say hi. I'm going to a celebratory gathering for my dad's wife's mom who passed away last year at 93. It's an open bar at a local, very cute bar that's been in town since my dad was a kid. Should be nice with good stories. They sprinkled her ashes in the lake this morning with their dad's too, who passed over a decade ago (they were waiting to do it together).
DianeO, the horse organization sounds wonderful! Liz, it's only natural that you'll have guilt about your decision on memory care. That's what thoughtful people do to ensure they are doing the right thing. You're doing the right thing. No one has a good day every day. MissB, I hope you recombobulate soon! BB, boy it doesn't sound like your DH's company handled that well at all. DianeS, drive safely and good luck! David, that's not mowing, that's deforesting! Shel, sending you love.
Spent my morning here with my BFF helping him with his theater organ. I simply do what I am told to assist. I have no expertise in theater organ repair, tuning or playing. He is a virtuoso in all three areas!
The Grand Lake was built in the 20s by Fox and was one of the few real movie houses with a stage and dressing rooms. In its glory days there were stage shows between the movie features and a house organist to play the intermissions. I went there as a kid in its waning years of the 1970s and 1980s, before it became a multiplex cinema. Luckily, the man who bought the business (and finally the structure itself) is a man who LOVES history and antiques. He kept the main auditorium intact! The two theaters constructed in the balcony can be dismantled and the structure can be returned to it's original state.
I am stewing a bit because while I was at the theater this morning, Ron was supposed to be at the DMV getting his registration sorted out. He was to have gone yesterday, but procrastinated all day. He promised to go this morning. Yeah, well, I got home and he hadn't even left yet. I was miffed. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate one last trek up to Sonoma and now he's the one lagging behind. Not cool! I was good and told him I was upset and that it was not okay to be so behind the ball when I had completely rearranged my schedule to accommodate him. So not cool at all.
I had other food/eating/body image related stuff to mention today, but I guess my Grand Lake story and my peevishness toward Ron are getting the better of me today. My lessons learned can wait for another time.
Wonderful Wednesday to you all!
Love that theatre - such a beautiful classic! Yeah, it is tough to keep one's cool when loved ones don't follow through.

A nice day. DH worked the weekend (retail management), so he has today and tomorrow off. We went to see the movie, The Last Black Man in San Francisco. I didn't dislike it, but I left confused. I'll let it sink in some more. We had a late lunch on a rooftop bar. Rather than a ****tail with simple syrup in it (I do so love those kind of drinks with fruit and little umbrellas), I had a glass of Prosecco. Everything logged, and unless I go off the rails in the next few hours, I'm feeling fine about today's eats. Tomorrow's forecast is sunny and in the 80s. Off to one of the 10,000 lakes we are so famous for. Our favorite beach has been closed due to water quality concerns, because of runoff from All.the.rain. So much rain. If it's still closed tomorrow, we'll try something new, which can actually be a good thing.
When DH is off next we, we are doing a staycation. Looks to be very hot next week, so probably more lake time. We are also making a list of places about which we always say , we should go there sometime. Hopefully we will indeed, go there. Looking forward to it!
Good idea to make a list! A bunch of us were talking the other day about when you can't think of where to go because you can't remember the places you said you wanted to go to some day.
