Good eating day yesterday. DD and Adalyn came to the shop in the woods. I had almost finished slicing up a cedar long to make some 2x4s so I can get the top on the raised beds when they came. Adalyn will be playing with her toys and then all the sudden get up and walk to the pantry. She will grab a couple of cans and bring them out to play with. She is so busy when she plays and so OFF THE CHARTS upset if she doesnt get her way. If you fuss at her she will be embarrassed and try to leave the area. We do not want her embarrassed. I will say where are you going come here PopPop loves you. And then all is ok. As they were leaving it started to storm. I did get the sawmill and the mower covered but forgot to roll up the awning on the Airstream. I looked out the shop window and the awning was sagging from holding water but it was lightning frequently so I did not empty it until the storm passed. I was a good rain that cooled things off.
My window AC unit in the shop is going out. We ordered a mini split unit for it. It should cool it fine. I installed a 4 zone in the Searcy house. This one is a single zone so it should be a piece of cake. All except paying for it.
More Later, David

David... loved your popsicle story. Perfect example of big deal, little deal ! How many times as a parent did I expect things to be done the "right" or "efficient" way, using my filters ? I learned to ease up, and ended up with two science brainiacs who think outside the box more than I ever could ! Shel, thanks for resharing those amazing images ! I had saved it last year, titled Shel's Spirit Guide. I am so comforted by your Reiki Master friend's interpretation !! Liz, your deck looks fabulous ! Love the new carpets. I have been very happy with Wayfair. Ceci..hope Fergus made it through the fireworks as well as our two did ! Miss Bonnie, welcome back ! How sweet of your DH to suggest a walk ! Shirl, enjoy your glimpses of winter, as it will be short lived when you reach us here ! DD, hope you continue to ease into a restful summer routine. Diane, glad it was a bit cooler for the shows. Sorry you had to show a groggy pup because of fireworks precautions, but I'm sure she did her best for you ! Love hearing about DH's antics with tools ! PEPS, your 4th sounded like perfection !! Your workouts sound so killer !! BB loved the FB 4th Fam picture ! You are glowing !! Sorry if I missed anyone.
My oldest DD had just taken off from LAX for the first earthquake, and was in NY for the second one. She and her husband are collecting some things from both sets of parents before sending their east coast moving van off to Vancouver BC. They fly back to LAX Tuesday, and start their drive to their new adventure on Wednesday. Youngest DD will be home this weekend too, and starts her new job in Harlem Monday. She is looking forward to the subway commute as a way to read more pharm journals.

You beat me again. I need to check prior to submitting! Oh and I thought it was Sunday. LOL
We have showers expected later today too but I don't think it will cool off for long. It looks like the hot, muggy stuff will be here all week which is fairly typical in the northeast this time of year.
I am finishing my first cup of coffee and debating whether I should do hydrangea planting before or after my second cup. It is a muggy 75 already. I REALLY want to relax with Justice a bit longer and drink a second cup. I have a bathing suit on to jump in the pond after planting. I could get wet in the middle to keep me cooler...
The outdoor concert last night was quite good and DH did well though he was very tired when it ended at 7:45. This afternoon we go to our friends for a BBQ party - some friends from our old town, local friends and new friends will be there so it should be fun. I'm bringing a new portable cornhole game. DH can play it because he is still quite coordinated.
Have a satisfying Saturday!

Adalyn is a force, for sure ! It is never too early to begin to learn the concept of choice. You can't always control what happens, but you CAN choose your reaction is an empowerment that could help her navigate some challenges and frustrations. It sounds like you are already trying to catch her making good decisions and trying to distract when you see her winding up. Simply saying, "Good choice" is so powerful. You can build connections to that phrase, adding clarification as she is ready. "Good choice. You saw that PopPop had something sharp."

Definitely a force. There is a nursery rhyme that talks about little so in so. When she is good she is very good but when she is bad she is horrid. DD was visiting a neighbor. When she got ready to leave Adalyn started crying (normal). Then she bucks her back, grabs her moms glasses and bites DD. (Not normal). She is in therapeutic daycare for 5 hours a day. Hoping to identify a coping mechanism. DD is very good about staying calm.

Good with the food choices, 3 mi walk yesterday- weight up this morning--go figure.
Must remind my self- behavior+expectations and resulting scale weight do not always make sense- Beware knee jerk reactions...the scale is not God...take honest inventory, make adjustments if necessary and carry on accordingly.
I read somewhere- maybe from the Wash Your Face, Girl ? - that it is important to consciously make promises to your self, and then (as you would not fail to follow through with a commitment made to a friend or organization) KEEP that promise in action. To do otherwise is a breach of personal integrity and, maybe more importantly, disrespectful-
I am thinking of that idea this morning- Every time I say to myself, "I will or will not do this or that today...", and then fail to follow through, I disrespect myself- diminish and count my self of a lesser value and importance ...Promises -commitments I would honor re anyone else because my word is my bond- I will break to myself as casually as----well, to put it bluntly, I make my self a liar and count myself as not worthy of consideration,
In short, it is what I do instead of what I say that reflects my true estimation of self worth.
Yesterday I said that I intended to be more mindful of what I was eating...Today, however, I find myself projecting just how to take advantage of Kurt's absence (he and DS#1 are off to the city - Sporting soccer game) to eat- snack-go off plan -indulge a bit-THIS is a very old tape being played--secret eating opportunity-
What I am really doing is breaking a commitment to the person I should be true to.
I cannot call my self a person of integrity when my behavior does not match my word. I want to be a person of integrity.
